Thankyou very much Hereford...

...because due to their show-stoppingly 19th century facilities, there will be NO full match commentary on the game.

Everyone involved has literally pulled up trees to make the coverage the best possible, but due to some insurmountable problems (and despite the best efforts of the MOST helpful staff in the Football League) it proved to be impossible to plug our broadcast gear into THIN AIR!

So I'm afraid you'll have to put up with superior-quality mobile phone updates...

Once again. thankyou very much Hereford United... :mad8:

Instead of moaning about HUFC facilities, which incidentally, are light years ahead of your slum, why don't you get off your whippet worrying asses & support your team.
Tinpot,as ever.

Fortunately, our 19th century facilities include COVERED accommadation for up to 2500 visiting fans. Also, before you mention it, the toilets were upgraded during the summer and the catering facilities improved. In the event of an eclipse of the sun, our floodlights are bright enough for the spectators to see the whole of the pitch. We also have had a couple of games when we have been unable to receive commentry from away games but this seems to cause little distress because our fans actually go to the games.

Enjoy.

KarenFaz 27-10-2006 12:08

Re: Thankyou very much Hereford...

There are rules that every new club which enters the Football League have to abide by when it comes to press facilities. And although it may not seem it to some, Stanley are lightyears ahead of Hereford when it comes to the technical media facilities that the Fraser Eagle Stadium has to offer to its press.

Not everyone can get to football matches week in a week out due to work commitments or being abroad and radio stations give those people the chance to follow their team no matter where the listener's are. I'm sure if they could be at Hereford on Saturday they would be!

Stanley are lucky in that they have upto three commercial radio stations following their results week in and out, not including the BBC.

When we were in the Conference Stanley had two commercial stations following them this is compared to NO commercial stations covering the likes of Hereford. Unfortunately for them this is a bad thing as they play a key role in both the publicity side of things for matches, news and coverage!!! Which in turn creates extra revenue for the club!!

Kaz

P.S Your stands may be covered but from last season one end was condemned (according to several stewards) and the other was blocked by MASSIVE and I mean MASSIVE stantions holding up the other stand to the point that you were ducking and diving throughout the match to see anything happening!

As noted on other threads the fans in league 2 have come on here and have had valid comments and some banter, in fact as mentioned more the once how nice compared with the fans in the conference, then ................. Hereford Utd........whats changed in the land of sheep sha gging and inter family marriage, same old inter breed were better then you etc etc. Oh remember, who won the league?

Re: Thankyou very much Hereford...

your stand may be covered but its pretty pointless when you cant see the majority of the pitch!!!

the main differences is that at our club we have meetings to deceide which areas to develop, you just have meetings on which areas to condem

I've been trying recently to find the radio stations of the team that Stanley are playing, just in case it's being covered on their local station. So far i haven't managed to find any live feeds for ASFC away games, but i'll keep trying.

BBC - Hereford and Worcester - Sport - Sport Audio: Hereford United

Re: Thankyou very much Hereford...

"whats changed in the land of sheep sha gging and inter family marriage, same old inter breed were better then you"

....and you're concerned about the quality of the banter?

Give me strength.

For the record, the covered terrace to which you refer is not "condemmed" it simply is subject to regular safety checks which cost money. It is simply not worth getting a certificate issued every time the ground is open particularly when our seated accommadation is a pound or two cheaper than most League two clubs charge to stand...and there are no pillars in the seated area. There are support pillars in the standing area. However, this area holds around 450 and rarely accommadates more than 200 or so visiting fans. Now then, if you want to stand behind a piller, that's up to you but most intelligent people wouldn't.

Have you considered the possiblity that a bit less radio coverage might actually encourage fans to go to the games? The media facilities at Edgar Street comply with the league rules. It is also worth mentioning that The League sold the rites to live broadcast to PremTV and maybe we are trying to support the League contract rather than undermine it?

So whats dan on about then. he led us to believe it was the poor facilities at the ground. I think we have been used to have a go at hereford.

Re: Thankyou very much Hereford...

BBC Hereford and Worcester own an ISDN point at the ground, which they are lending to Radio Lancs for the match. Every ground, down to about Conference North/south has a local BBC point. According to Hereford, that is the only facility in the press box.

So because 2br aren't BBC, we can't use a BBC point and there are no other options.

So sorry to those who might've listened because we can't do commentary, sorry to anyone offended by my initial flippant post and sorry for opening my gob in the first place.

If it is going to cause so many problems, I'll stop using this messageboard to inform people about the coverage.

If I had to express an opinion or a choice I would want to listen to b2r’s commentary. Dingle lover’s aside, my reasoning is that the best Local Radio coverage available to any passionate <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comStanley </ST1:p</st1:City>fan is provided by Dan and is recent side kick Karen. :) Nothing against Cotty or that nice chap Mr Dibble. :D

I've missed a few games this season due to work commitments, I'm such a part-timer armchair fan!!

Oh well, turning up to Colchester on a Tuesday night, getting back at 4 in the morning knowing I had to turn in for work at 7, must not be as committed as turning up to Hereford.

Although, I did actually go to Hereford, just through luck of finding a lift a couple of days before the game.

I absolutely refuse to use trains, ever!

Now then, if you want to stand behind a piller, that's up to you but most intelligent people wouldn't.

That would explain the mass of barb wire to the side of your main HOME stand then that if you stood next to was below head height and very dangerous right next door to a confectionary bar, also highly enjoyed seeing a rat (and trust it was a rat, not a hamster, Dan will verify me running out very, very quick) in the Ladies loos on the home end, how on earth you have got a safety certificate is beyond my comprehension. Says a lot about your fanbase that you don't need that third end doesn't it!!!!!! Can I say at Stanley there is 100% nothing blocking your view apart from if you're unfortunate enough to have Jase standing in front of you in his red afro wig!!!!

Have you considered the possiblity that a bit less radio coverage might actually encourage fans to go to the games? The media facilities at Edgar Street comply with the league rules.

The media facilities at Edgar Street DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT comply with league rules at ALL!!!! 'They have been in the League before' so why should they update their gear!! Hold on a sec, does that mean Stanley don't have to update their gear neither seeing they have been in the League previously too, one rule for one, another for another!!!! As for less radio coverage you wouldn't know the bonuses of having radio coverage as NO ONE covers you! Maybe you wouldn't be as cocky if you knew the positive effects there are in having radio stations covering you!

It is also worth mentioning that The League sold the rites to live broadcast to PremTV and maybe we are trying to support the League contract rather than undermine it?

PremTV are a separate deal that commercial broadcasters do not have anything to do with that's like saying BBC or Sky can't broadcast if PremTV broadcast, that's rubbish!!! You are undermining League rules by not following them in the first place!!!!!

Sorry for the rant guys!!!!!

As a fan, one who has been to edgar street in the past, I can honestly say I never ever want to go to that place again.

Karen it doesn't suprise me that you met the local wildlife while you were in the loo's the state of them when I went was awful. I only hope they charged the rodent to come in!!!

Nor does it suprise me that the radio facilities aren't really up to scratch after seeing the rest of the ground. If I recall rightly last season Dan did his updates from a seat in the stand, in the middle of the Hereford fans!!!

Please shoot me if you ever find me anywhere near Edgar Street again.

Jesus, you don't give up do you. For a visiting supporter I'm curious to know why you were in the home end? I also find it curious that you should question the size of our fan base and it's connection with wether or not we open the home section in the Blackfriars end. Firstly, with a capacity of 7000 without the Blackfriars we do not need to and secondly, it's got stuff-all to do with you anyway.

I really have to admit I have know idea what you're talking about with respect to the barbed wire unless you're referring to the wire that prevents people climbing the floodlight towers?

The Football League approved all facilities before the season started. I just wonder if your personal rant about not being able to broadcast is more to do with you making money out of it for yourself?

If you saw a rat then I'm sorry. They are living creatures that have legs to walk on and while I agree it is not desirable I'm afraid they do exist..even in Accrington.

Now please grow up.

I was expressing a personal opinion just like what you were doing and if you don't like what I say I apologise. Also if it's got 'stuff-all' to do with me why are you taking the time to reply?

As for making money out of Hereford how???? Please, please tell me as would love to know how travelling 630 miles through the middle of no where is going to make me money in any which way how? The fact is a commercial company who broadcasts or not has no monetary value for anyone anyway it's a commercial radio station.

And it was not the floodlight barbwire that was hanging so low it was separate on the wall and it was brought to my attention by one of your fans making me aware of it!! 'Be careful not to rip your coat on that' was the comment I believe by a great old man who was very down to earth who we had a natter with for a while.

As for growing up I believe my points have been very valid and to the point I haven't been attacking or name calling just making a few pointers just like you have done to us.............

Whilst I agree with you, a rat is not something you particularly want to see right next to a confec stand in a toilet where women were taking children to use!!!! And in the Football League is not something I have seen in any of my travels in the football league or even in non-league football.

My 'personal rant' as you call it is backed up as you can see by a number of fans and to be honest was in answer to your reply previous where you got your facts wrong I was making you aware of that fact so how is that personal, this is a forum, I'm not being negative just expressing my views on your amenities and what you could improve on. Which I am sure you will do on here come March!!!

Think you'll find its a club promotion where folk go along to the ticket office at least 24 hours before kick off & pick up vouchers which entitle a free child (under 10) to accompany a paying adult.
Yes,the league rules do allow that although you are welcome to check.
