Any idea what positions they play Mr K?

Hope it's two defenders, a midfielder and a striker.

Re: New signings will be

If there is any good news at all re:signings, the club should make it public as soon as possible. It's all very grim at the moment.

KIPAX 23-11-2006 11:16

Re: New signings will be

I agree.. but your back to the same thing.. they cant say someones signed until the forms have been signed.. the newspapers can... like the telegraph broke the story re craney....at the time the telegraph went to press he had NOT signed for swansea but obviously would..

What your suggesting is the club tell us if somehting is in the pipeline and to a certain extent I agree.. but suppose it then falls through.. not good

So the club cant release the info until its deal done.. the papers can

Fingers crossed its deal done before tea time :)

Re: New signings will be

Joe Jacobson - Born 17th November 1986 in Cardiff, 5' 11" tall, defender, one game for Cardiff against Barnet in the Carling Cup this season losing 2-0.

Curtis McDonald - Born 24th March 1988 in Cardiff, 5' 10" tall, midfielder, no appearances for Cardiff.

Adam Dugdale - Born 12th September 1987 in Liverpool, 6' 3" tall, defender, one appearance for Crewe against Rochdale this season in the Johnstone Paint Trophy drew 1-1

JEFF 23-11-2006 14:17

Re: New signings will be

David Mannix- Born 24th August 1985, midfielder, played four reserve games this season.

Quote:

David Mannix is a player of immense potential. He possesses a great range of passing, is two footed and a great competitor and is a regular member of Hughie McAuley’s reserve squad. He will play a number of games for the Under-18 team this season in an effort to build up his fitness after being plagued for two years by a serious knee injury.

Under-18 Academy manager John Owens said: “At Under-15/Under-16 level David was such a shining light in central midfield. He is a very strong but gifted midfield player. He has a range of passing, good ability on the ball and a tremendous prospect. He then started the Under-17 year and got injured with a bad knee pre-season. He needed a major operation in the USA which was a pioneering operation for someone so young.

“Without the injury David would have been one who would be playing regularly for the reserves and making tremendous progress towards being the next Academy player through to the first team squad. We hope with David Mannix the problems he has had with injuries is just a large hiccup if you like.”

JEFF 23-11-2006 14:21

Re: New signings will be

So - two defenders aged 19 & 20 and two midfielders aged 18 & 21, none of them with much experience, but Coley knows what he is doing. Personally I would have preferred an experienced defender or midfielder to organise and motivate the team, but this is what we have now until the January transfer window.

Re: New signings will be

With these loan signings and our already youthful squad (Eliot, Proctor, Mangan, Harris, Boco, Ventre) I reckon theres a strong case for us being renamed Accrington Stanley U21s! Mannix looks like the standout signing...if only because he's the only one with his own caption on the official site

Hopefully they can play a bit, and Coley's the man to imbue them with the Stanley never-say-die spirit!

Pleasing news to wake up to.But they are only here for a month(??? ) so what happens after that-back to square one?

Doug 23-11-2006 16:27

Re: New signings will be

Why I am a little nervous, if not a little confused about this situation. After the month is up is there any likelihood that one or more of these lads will sign? Can we afford them? Is it the knowledge that this was going to happen put the lads out of sorts this last month or two? Either way I’ll be behind them and the club, I’m not a tactician, I don’t want to know about the politics, but I do want the club to move forward…….

Re: New signings will be

Boco will be back... but we will only have a few players to pick when they have finished the loans..... oh and brown and Rikki Bains, but he hasnt even featured in the team... worrying

Nothing to get confused about Doug. Stanley are a selling club and with gates of 1700 we'll never be anything else.

There are two types of loans: long-term loans (for a whole season, eg. Rob Elliot) and short-term loans (typically for one-month).

Short-term loans can be extended to last up to three months with the original club being able to recall the player after 28 days have passed.

Any player can be taken on a long-term loan or his short-term loan converted to a long-term loan provided (i) he was less than 23 years old on 30th June; and (ii) the loan must commence before 31st December.

There are also limits on how many short-term and long-term loans you can have during the season, with a limit of four short-term loans at any one time (as is the case at the moment).

So, with the four loanees we have acquired today, we have their services guaranteed for 28 days. After Coley has had a look at them during this period, he can:
  1. extend their loan periods for another month (though they might get recalled by their clubs in this period) with the options to either try and sign them permanently during the January transfer window or extend their loan period for one more month before letting them return to their original clubs;
  2. sign them on a long-term loan before the 31st December; or
  3. let them return to their original club after the month has elapsed.

Re: New signings will be

The ones who have only recently signed for their clubs aren't coming to us with a view to a permanent move are they? just for a bit of match practice. They fill some immediate gaps, but I presume in January we'll be assessing the likes of Foyle, Baines, Byrom & seeing who's going to be here long term, as well as spending the Craney/Roberts money on more experienced replacements

maccawozzagod 24-11-2006 08:33

I think now should have been the time to assess the likes of Foyle, Baines and Byrom.

I know this was discussed in an earlier thread, but is Andy Tretton likely to back in the team after Christmas ? We have a special interest here as we sponsor his kit ! :D :D :D

Hope your recovery is going well Andy ! :)

I know we've never heard of any of these lads, but then again who'd heard of Gary Roberts or Rory Prendergast before they signed for us and they did more than ok so I'll reserve judgement till I've seen them play.
