Request for **** ********
I have just finished my 5 mins on Radio Lancashire on the Fans Panel and I was amazed to be told by Phil from Radio Lancashire that he had received an anonimous text suggesting that John Coleman should go and make way for new management. I'll repeat here what I said on the Radio, John Coleman is a very good man manager who has the respect of many in football (eg Lee Mcevilly would happly play for JC anytime). The team has to be rebuilt after losing important players like Roberts and Craney and Boco is injured. So give JC a break and allow him to rebuild. He has a knack of finding gems so give him a chance. He needs support from the crowd on Saturday as does the team. Yopu have the right tto moan because you pay to watch Stanley, but you also want your team to do well so get behind them. Sorry for the rant... I feel better now!

Re: Request for John Coleman's Resignation
Anonymous text... not even got the balls to say who they are, disgrace.
No where need the time to be calling for Coley's head. |
Re: Request for John Coleman's Resignation
Fair point. I must admit i have been unhappy with some of the team selections (leaving certain players out etc) but the bloke's got us into the league and we we're doing ok until Roberts departure and now craney leaving has weakend us further (both departures being out of his hands) added to that the injury to Boco. Though i can't understand why Brown has been loaned out when we are threadbare. Coley will stop the rot, at the end of the day staying up is the main aim this season and we will build from there.

Re: Request for John Coleman's Resignation
No one else could do the job John Coleman and Jimmy Bell have done and will do at Accrington Stanley.

Did they do a 1471
The number probably had a Hereford or Barrow code. |

Re: Request for John Coleman's Resignation
Despite the recent losing run, I have every confidence in John Coleman and his team. Reading as much as I can about the situation, he seems to have been very philosophical about recent events and in my opinion, has talked a lot of sense, though I know that not everyone agrees with everything he says (which is natural).
This is exactly the time when we should all be getting behind the team - not calling for his resignation - and shame on whoever it was who suggested that !!!   I truly believe that Stanley will move well away from the relegation zone and finish in midtable at the end of the season.:D |
Re: Request for John Coleman's Resignation
Can't be a request from a true Stanley fan - he would've had the bottle to give his name if he was.
Many of the reasons for our recent run of bad luck are beyond Coley's control - Boco's injury, Cav's injury, Craney leaving, even Robert's leaving was probably more Eric Whalley's decision rather than Coley's. In the last month or so we've signed half a dozen new players. Surely they need a bit of time to settle in with the existing squad. It's totally wrong to even suggest Coley's resignation at this stage. Let's give him some encouragement and get behind him and the team. |

Re: Request for John Coleman's Resignation
While I certainly questioned his judgement on Saturday regarding the team selection, I agree that we shouldn't be calling for any resignations from the management. The teams been unsettled enough with so many changes happening in a short space of time.
|
Re: Request for John Coleman's Resignation
I hope Coley and Jimmy read our posts and realise that we're all united against the idiot who was too much of a sh*t house to give his name. Jimmy and John took us from the knowhere back to the Football League and taking 25 goals a season (Roberts/Craney) out of any team would be a real blow.
Give the new lads time to gel and get behind the lads over the busy Christmas period. Mav |
Re: Request for John Coleman's Resignation
I find it absolutely incredible that anyone should be seriously calling for Coley or Jimmy to be dismiissed - the same sort of bloody stupid knee-jerk reaction which actually occurs in the over-hyped Premiership whenever a team has a bad run. Coley always has, and always will have, to constantly re-invent the team given the operating conditions he has to work with. I think his (usually!) philosophical reaction to reverses is superb and his positive attitude to giving new players a stage to demonstrate their abilities is inspiring and shows a very mature and realistic approach.
Long may he reign! It's not the playing side of the business which is lacking. |

I feel sure that despite their recent form uplift, Macclesfield are definitely destined for the drop, and I have a hunch that Boston may well go with them (hope so ! :D ). |
Re: Request for John Coleman's Resignation
FFS!
We had just been relegated when Coley took over, 3 promotions later the man should NEVER EVER be allowed to leave PAdlock him to Eric's wrist I say. LAst year Charlton fans, a minority mind, thought Curbishley had took them as far as he could & should resign. He did & there is a good chance they'll play Burnley next season, in the Championship In Coleman, we trust! |

Re: Request for John Coleman's Resignation
i agree it is beyond john and jimmys control,so lets get behind the dynamic duo . come on stanley.
|
Re: Request for John Coleman's Resignation
forget getting rid - what we need is a stronger coaching staff. when we had paul and andy our defence was a lot stronger. since theres no window for taking on staff how about a couple of player/coaches - ok they cant play till jan but their influence, training and postive action could get the team going. it worked last season.

Re: Request for John Coleman's Resignation
That was exactly my point about Ged on the Players out of Contract thread. Ok so maybe he didn't show any of his former ability when he played for us but his credentials are beyond question. We know he would come to the club and I think with his experience he would make a great addition to the coaching staff to pass on his knowledge of the game onto our young team.
|
Re: Request for John Coleman's Resignation
i agree john and jimmy are ideal for their passion but we have always done better with coaches who are more defensive minded. it also means we have a balanced staff which as resulted in 2 key players being involved with bigger teams. we will never be premiership or championship material, and attendances will never be massive with so many well supported teams near by, but if we have a strong backroom staff set up we can build a strong team which could handle the loss of a few influential plays. we cant pay silly money for players but nurture them and you have a league team for years to come.
so forget about big name (and big price) players or roofs and bars, lets get back to basics and show that accrington can produce something more than nori bricks !!!! lets have a "NORI TEAM" |

Re: Request for John Coleman's Resignation
If I recall rightly the announcer at Chester welcomed Stanley back as one of the greatest names in football.
He was right. I get more Google Alerts on Stanley than I get on any other footy team subject. Surely that gives the club a lot to build on. |

Yes, but can we turn those Google alerts into £'s, fans or points on the board?.................:D |

It tells us that there is a lot of interest in Stanley. Even if it cannot in most cases be turned into people on seats there may be possibilities for branding and merchandising. MUFC excel at this but what percentage of their worldwide fan base visit Old Trafford every year? |
Re: Request for John Coleman's Resignation
Quote:
Most clubs can only sell their merchandise to their fans. But, like MUFC, Stanley is almost an institution in English football - so much so, that even people outside their immediate fanbase will buy their merchandise, just to have a little piece of "one of football's most famous names". The club was presented with a huge opportunity a few months ago when we enjoyed the sort of press and TV coverage that other small clubs can only dream about. "Accrington Puts The Smile Back On The Face of English Football" was one of the national daily headlines that summed up the general "feelgood" factor that the club's promotion engendered. Accordingly, the club should have been ready to cash in on this with a wide and attractive range of "championship/return to the league/44 years and we're back" merchandise. Instead, we were offered two t-shirts which were stocked in such small quantities that they soon sold out, never to be restocked again. Meanwhile, the ebay unofficial sellers had a field day. The club could have made a lot of money out of this, but that opportunity was a once-in-a-lifetime one and has gone now. However, Stanley should learn from their past mistakes by upgrading their merchandising operation with a greatly expanded range and high-profile advertising and marketing policies. With the attendances the way we are, we urgently need new sources of income and here's one that is staring the club in the face. Come on, Eric, Rob, do something now! |
Re: Request for John Coleman's Resignation
100% agree mister harris... but havent we been here before? not to say it shouldnt be aired again.. but has it fallen on deaf ears?
1) Have you still got the article you could post again? 2) am I the only one who cringes everytime I see this thread come abck to the top.. the title makes me cringe :( |
Re: Request for John Coleman's Resignation
Quote:
2) Totally agree, maybe I should have started a new thread. Yes, you're right, though, it's not the first time I've banged on about this but, to me anyway, it's so blindingly obvious that the club is woefully ignoring a wonderful money-making opportunity. I can't understand why they can't see it. Right, I'll shut up about it now (for the moment). |
Re: Request for John Coleman's Resignation
any chance you want to write up a follow up article??? :)
|
Re: Request for John Coleman's Resignation
No problem, John, I'll knock one together.
|
Re: Request for John Coleman's Resignation
Personally I think that nothing is going to change until there is a change of personel at the club. Everytime I mention this subject I get a stream of abuse back that I wonder if it's worth it. I am bored with the PMs saying the staff do a great job on limited resources because that does not wash with me anymore. The buck for the missed opportunity is the fault of Eric and Rob Heys and before any of you start about Eric this and Eric that I'm only talking about the merchandising part of the club. IMHO we have members of this message board who could have done a better job and brought a hell of a lot more money in to club, rant over.

Re: Request for John Coleman's Resignation
Bagpuss.. how come just about every post you make is slagging off the club or attacking the club... You seem very bitter
|
Re: Request for **** ********
Although Bagpuss has put the facts in a blunt form, he's not wide of the truth in my opinion. I don't doubt the commitment of staff at the club, but elements of the commercial side are woeful. I admit that the club is understaffed compared to other League clubs and i have some understanding why that is the case, but opportunities are being missing on a regular basis and there is a real need for the professional element of the club to permeate through all the ranks.
I've said this before, but we have a League 2 team and a Conference North club. |
Re: Request for **** ********
I dont think this is a negative thing - look on the flip side of it and you discover that for the last four years we have consistently and successfully punched above our weight :) maybe its time we put some weight on though
|
Re: Request for **** ********
I agree.. I dont think many would dissagree... I wasnt suggesting he was wrong.. just wondering why every post had to be slagging the club off.. maybe if he slipped in a couple of nicey nicey posts here and there :)

Re: Request for **** ********
I agree JC is the right man for the job, what i do not understand is why he is not playing some of the new signings, we have put Baines out on loan, why if he is not good enough then why did we sign him, my concern is that we will lose good quality players and 6 months down the road they will be performing for another club, our loss.

Am I bitter? Maybe, it still bugs me that I was overcharged for my season ticket and the fact that Mr Rob Heys attempted to silence me over allegations of gate fixing, but that is in the past. I will still have a pop until I feel things are improving in regards to the clubshop, if nobody complains then Eric thinks all is fine, which it is clearly not. |

i tend to ignore most of the spiteful comments you post on here but the above one is scandalous, please explain how i tried to silence you on allegations of gate fixing? i invited you to come up to the control room on a match day and see the counting system in action, and even cross reference it with the cctv cameras? how is this trying to silence you? you came back with some nonsense about having evidence of gate fixing which again i asked you to present to us as if indeed you do then the club needs to know about it? constructive critisicm is great and will always be listened to, whether you choose to post on here, write, phone or email. once again i extend the invite bagpuss, if you have a problem come in and see me about it? |
Re: Request for **** ********
bagpuss im with you, i cant remember who we were playing, but the ground was basically rammed. you could of fit about another hundred people in there max but the attendance at half time was said to be something like 2,300 the exact figure escapes me but you catch my drift, but not on this earth could another 1500 people fit in that ground on that night. people were laughing in the crowd when it was announced.
