McGivern was great today, but it begs the question if he can perform like that from the start & for a full game?
Mangan looked poor. Ran his socks off but was not productive at all.

McGivern must start next week. If he can produce anything like the display against shrewsbury but for for 90mins then coley has uncovered yet another gem.

I agree that McGivern was great when he came on, I thought he looked dangerous at Grimsby, and was excellent for twenty minutes at Mansfield.

Shame for Mangan though. I thought Mangy struggled a bit in the first half yesterday, but in the second half he saw a lot of the ball from either wing and through the middle. Didn't seem troubled by close attention and seemed to look to play people in when opportunity arose. Second half MOM for me yestreday. The difference was though that McGivern cam on he was looking for the penalty box every time, and that is what we have missed since Gary went.

I would go for it from the start and play McGivern and Mangan against MK Dons. Was amazed when Mangan was substituted yesterday instead of McDonald. Sorry but I can't agree with previous posters as I thought he was as ineffective as Doherty used to be. His centres from open play were often rushed and always over-hit. I'd much rather see Mangan on the left - remember his great run and cross for Jagielka to smash in against Grays last year?
Move Rocky back and switch Edwards to full back instead of Ventre whose distribution is not good enough.

Mangan was completely ineffective, why would playing him out of his natural position make him any better? Rocky was brilliant in midfield yesterday, I thought he deserved man of the match as he bossed the whole midfield in parts yesterday. Jacobson gets stuck in and links up well with other players - he looks promising. Though I think he took a knock towards the end of the game which I hope isn't too serious. Ventre was strong as ever, there was a few wayward passes but it will be corrected with more experience.

After all the changes & confusion, I honestly believe that the tactics used & the performance displayed yesterday was the best since the start of the season; the lads seem to be confident and the team spirit is evidently back.

Bring on McDons.

Re: leighton mcgivern

The thing with McDonald yesterday was that when he got the ball he looked to get at his man rather than who he could sidefoot it to like Doherty did. He didn't look the quickest off the mark but he did have quick feet. Once he learns who he is playing with and what kind of runs they like to make then he will surely adapt to that. Mangan, McGivern and McDonald (MMM) would scare the proverbial out of defences with their fast movement and one-twos. Throw Todd on the other side into that equation and you have a lightening fast attacking force. That would be assuming we are going for the jugular straight from the off and it leaves no room for Mullin. But Mullin would be the option if and when we have a lead to defend. Two strikers off and Mullin for holding plus one defender/midfielder. I dont think that Mullin should be dropped particularly because I am a big fan of his, but we do need to learn to play a different game in this league as other teams have found us out - restrict Mullin and you restrict Stanley. He is also clever enough to fit into a new style of play should we want to replace Mangan or McGivern with him

I think some people are getting confused on here, Curtis McDonald was an unused substitute yesterday!

The lad on the left wing was Joe Jacobson, the same Joe Jacobson who played at Doncaster in mid week at Left Back.

Hopefull I've done this right and the pictures are attached below.
Joe Jacobson is the lad talking to Toddy in the first picture and Adam Dugdale is bottom left and Curtis McDonald is bottom right in the next pictue.
As you can see Curtis was not the person playing left wing for us yesterday.

Thanks for that.

McDonald looked good in the half time knock about at Grimsby. His first touch reminded me of Boco.

But he was unused there and (according to the BBC) yesterday.

I gather Jacobson was busy at Doncaster and played better than at Grimsby on the left wing yesterday.
