Looks like Rory can't keep away from Accy, now in the same league, just a little lower down. He has joined Rochdale...

Dale sign winger

ROCHDALE have signed winger Rory Prendergast from Blackpool.
The 27-year-old left-winger has signed a one-year deal at Spotland.
He told Dale's website, www.rochdalefc.co.uk: "I'm delighted to have made the move and I'm looking forward to playing first-team football again."

bearing in mind that we are not overblessed with talent at the moment I am surprised that we were not linked/interested in him.

Again I am surprised that people opt to sign for teams like Rochdale and Bury who are perpetual strugglers at the foot of the football league. We lost out on on Murray to Rochdale and Bishop to Bury. I know that they have nice stadia but have they no ambition?

Prendergoose would never come back to us, nor would we sign him. It's by mutual agreement.

Rochdale have also signed the hobbitt known as David Perkins from Morecambe. Throwing those two into the same team could cause problems, anyone remember Rory doing a hong kong phooey style tackle on him in the Marsden Trophy defeat at Christie Park? Could be interesting :)

again I ask why we cant attract these players? Perkins has interested Coley for a long time and I know that Rochdale do not pay fantastic wages either, which is why they always struggle on with a young team.

We can't sign players when the bosses are in Spain can we. There won't be long left in the transfer window when they get back. We will probably end up with nobody and have to settle for loan deals. The other clubs at the bottom of the league are experienced in getting out of trouble and they are all signing players to try to secure their safety. We, on the other hand, have no experience of this, and it looks like we are going to rely on the players who have got us into this mess to get us out of it again. We are yet to see signs of ambition to stay in this league or even get further. We are supposed to have made a six figure bid for Donaldson which was turned down, surely we can use this cash to lure a decent defender and/or midfield organiser to the club, or was the bid made knowing full well that it would be turned down. Rochdale are next to the bottom of the league - they don't have trouble attracting players. Boston are nearly skint - they don't have trouble attracting players. Torquay are bottom of the league - they don't have trouble attracting players. Why do we have trouble attracting players ?

Here's the stuck record answer: the lowest salaries in the league, the lowest gates in the league and the worst ground in the league.

Also the fact that, as Macca says, the other clubs quoted are perpetual strugglers, shows that their buying policy is not working. Maybe Coley will not settle for second best or pay over the odds and break the squads salary structure which could cause resentment and create poor team spirit. One thing Stanley seem to have by the bucket load is team spirit, we can't afford to upset that.

Who can prove that we pay the lowest salaries in the league ?

Stanley average home gate 2240 - Boston 2200, Macclesfield 2087.

Obviously their buying policy IS working, they are still in the Football League. Perpetual strugglers and perpetual survivors.

Lets look on the bright side, loan deals work look at Mannix, a bit of bad luck on the injury side but imagine if we had bought Mannix, we would be paying an injured player instead he goes back and we have no outlay. Why should we buy? gut reaction because thats what done, or a genuine opportunity to sign another Craney or Brown? If they arn't about then save the money and use loan deals that way we are not stuck to just January.

I take it Jeff that you are quizzing why they are in Spain as it's a question that I have been thinking about. To me the management should be here in England doing their best to bring in some new blood. We have to stay up and if that means paying that little bit extra it will be worth it. People say we are ambitious but I'm begining to doubt that as other teams are showing far more interest than us which is very worrying. The two signing that Rochdale have made could perhaps have been ours, at least it would have shown that Eric had made some money available for real signings and not that joke offer made to York as a Google Page Ranking exercise.;)

the trip is a fantastic idea if it helps with team bonding which is what we are going to need from here on in. It will also have helped them feel rewarded for the 4 out of 6 points they have just given us. Surprised Coley went though cos I bet Eric wont sanction international rate mobile calls! This break could just make our season as far as the players are concerned

I agree with Macca, the lads are going to have to battle between now and the end of the season and a change of scenery, a few beers and laughs together will help mould the team into the unit we will need to succeed.

I must admit though, that I too am a little suprised that Coley is with them the full time (do we know for certain that he is?).

I think the team have been together long enough to have bonded. If they haven't bonded by now they never will, Spain or not. As for a reward for getting four points out of six, don't you think that they will have been paid bonuses for that. Actually it's ten points out of the last forty five available, not four out of six. The most important thing is staying in the league, we need new players (even Coley has stated that), we cannot get players if the management are in Spain, by the time they get back there will be nobody left.

For the record Rory said he would love to come back to Stanley if/when Roberts left;I suspect his name wasn't even on Coley's "wishlist".
