Invasion
I live in Stockport and watch Stanley every home game. Many of my friend sfollow County and they all say they are coming on the 17 Feb.
They have nearly 3000 season ticket holders and have sold their allocation of 1400 allowed by Stanley. Obviously many of their supporters dont have tickets but they are still making the journey. I hope that there isnt any trouble. It could be the first game I have ever been to where the away support was higher than the home support. |
Re: Invasion
what about Bury on boxing day? that was close as they sold 1400 and had fans in and about the other stands
|
Re: Invasion
What about Chester in the season they were promoted from the Conference? That was embarrasing.
|
Re: Invasion
I don't think we can get any more embarrasing times, the Club is one big embarasment. We can't get players ,we can't get a Roof. we can't get a striker. we can't pay the wages required to get players of the calibre to keep us in the League. No wonder the Gates are going down, as Eric never heard the saying you have to speculate to accumilate, at least give us a roof to watch in the dry, at what ever level we fall to, or we will be back to gates of 600, again

Re: Invasion
Can anyone explain why the away fans are ticket only, yet the home fans are pay on the day?................to my way of thinking it would surely be better to make it an 'all ticket' match that way the club would have a possibility of at least reducing the amount of away fans that may attempt to get into the 'home 'ends? It would also make Policing/Stewarding an easier task and reduce the possibility of 'trouble' (not that I envisage any btw!)............Just a thought :)
|
Re: Invasion
The home fans are not all ticket probably because they wouldn't get sold, and the Clayton end would be half empty. I have no problems with away fans mingling with us, after all we have been doing that for years.
|
Re: Invasion
Hear hear! So much the sweeter for we few home supporters when we do 'em!

I work with a load of Bury fans , and the concept of half an all-ticket game was new to them :) . Stanley, innovators again. |

Re: Invasion
Loved it M8. Won't be too long afore I am back in NZ, probably within the next couple of years and for a hell of a lot longer. Came over for the Lions tour last year - though I have to admit not to watch the Lions - Too embarrassing.

Of the clubs mentioned with regard to having a larger away support than home support, the difference with Stockport is that they aren't the most pleasant of supporters  |

Lets face it, all other fans are pap compared to us anyway, they're just so jeaous of the quality of our football, and of course people come far and wide just to hear the roar from Clayon End :)

Stanley are not an embarassment. They are a legendary club with real achievements made on a shoestring budget that are currently going through a phase of questionable form and structure. Don't be embarrased, be proud always! It's ok to be disheartened but embarassed?!!! That just seems wrong, sorry... As for the County fans, erm they're rougher than Judy Finnegan... |

1. stadium is crap 2. cant buy new players 3. pay crap wages 4. the club shop is crap 5. the bar is crap 6. there isnt even a dietcian at the club 7. the players dont watch videos of the oppostion ( these are basic things) 8. coleman is tactically inept i could go on and on |

2. Go on www.accringtonstanley.co.uk and press the resfresh button :) 3. How much you want us to pay? chelsea paying players 100k a week+ and still not walking the league 4. Blame Boggles :p 5. What do want it to look like? pink and glitter around with reclining deckchairs?? 6. Why would we need a dietcian? never had one before so why now? 7. Im almost sure they do 8. Been unlucky with 5 or 6 longterm injurys and nobody can say at start of this season if we finished 3rd from bottom they wouldnt have taken it. |

2. Can't buy new players - we have just bought Sean Whalley 3. Pay crap wages - how do you know that we pay crap wages ? 4. The club shop is crap - we have three outlets selling Stanley goods, if you think Stanley's shop is crap have a look at Macclesfield's 5. The bar is crap - what is wrong with the bar 6. There isn't even a dietician at the club - you seem to be obsessed with there being no dietician at the club, how do you know there isn't 7. The players don't watch videos of the opposition - again how do you know what the players do 8. Coleman is tactically inept - Please explain and give examples Quote:

Re: Invasion
in reply to you baldy,
1. the stadium is awful it puts of fans returning when they are getting p*ssed on 2.we havent bought anyone its a loan 3. im not talking chelsea wages but if our average wage is 27k an the rest of the leagues in 56k it not hard to work out where the players are going to go 4. the club shop is crap that is fact 5. i actually meant we should have a bar at both goal ends too 6. we have never needd a dietcian before but we havent been in league football for years and things have changed, could you see any prem team without a dietcian? no because little things like this make the difference 7. the players dont actually watch videos of the oppostion ask them in the bar 8. yes we have had injuries but i still dont think coleman is the man to take us forward |
Re: Invasion
im not slagging the club off im saying the problems thats holding the club back BECAUSE i want them to progress

Re: Invasion
i dont think i need to carry on what others have said do you kimberly?
We are a small club in a big league yes we have problems, at least there not the problems that teams like boston and mansfeild have who arent worried about how big their club shop is, just worrying whether they will still have a club next season......you fancy swapping boots with them???? The progression on the pitch has been huge, the progression behind the scenes has been steady. Rome wasent built in a day! |
Re: Invasion
Although I don't agree with everything KC has to say, they do have a perfect right to express their frustration. I know where they are coming from, because I have never felt as frustrated with the club as I do at the moment.
All too often people express their views on here and are shot down by the same old responses. What a boring place it would be if that stopped people from expressing their true feelings. |
Re: Invasion
All true TM but I reckon Kimberley-Clark's still on one because Mangy isn't in the starting line-up - that's all he usually bangs on about. Also, I believe KC is a relatively new supporter, and so has not seen how much we have progressed from a few years ago with regards to the club shop etc. Progress may be slow but it is happening
|
Re: Invasion
Kimberley Clarke....I find your impatience astounding. I am speechless.Your points may well be valid, but the tone of your post portrays a type who "Wants, wants wants, moans, moans, moans and would never be happy even if all your bleetings were met.Accept the fact others have pointed out in that Accy has done remarkably well in the progress stakes and are walking before running.
|
Re: Invasion
Expressing your points is one thing, but like AccyMad says, we are a smll team in a big league...
The progression made by Stanley in the ast few seasons is immense IMHO. Just because we have got promoted into the official league doesnt mean drastic action needs taking, if we can survive in the league without a massive stadium and fancy looking bars & stores then I personally couldn't care less. What would you rather have, a Stanley League 2 team, or alot of glamour? |
Re: Invasion
Quote:
"Stanley fans" being so down on our own club are embarrasing me. I bet the bored Hereford fans are having a right old chuckle at this crap. I'll be honest, I wasn't born in Accy and I've only been going to Stanley for about five years but I hope I never become that cynical. |

Re: Invasion
OK so KC likes to use the word "crap" to describe the state of Accrington Stanley. There is a simple solution if you are so disenchanted... support another football club. The true supporters stick with the club through thick and thin and try to find positives to move forward. Eric Whalley would love to have a stadium and all the facilities of clubs like Bury, but he does not want to run the club into financial difficulties. Better a Football club that can grow steadily rather than a supernova that shines brightly for a short time then disappears. Just my opinion, and like KC we all have opinions
|
Re: Invasion
Sorry, but I thought Kimberly-Clark was a paper mill in Barrow, and you can't get crapper than that (no pun intended).

I am apoplectic with rage that such disgusting grammatical errors are creeping onto this site. Please remember that we are a League 2 side now, and that misuse of the English language should be confined to the Conferance and below!

I was always taught that the past tense of spell was spelt - spelled was bad grammar or wasnt even a word that existed - one of the two - cant remember now...

Re: Invasion
From the Oxford English Dictionary:
spell • verb (past and past part. spelled or chiefly Brit. spelt) 1 write or name the letters that form (a word) in correct sequence. 2 (of letters) make up or form (a word). 3 be a sign of; lead to: the plans would spell disaster. 4 (spell out) explain clearly and in detail. Oggy and Jimbo are both correct. |

Re: Invasion
I came up last week to watch you play chester and meet some lads from Nelson that I know and who watch you a bit.
So I stood on the home end of your ground and was surprised at a few things Chester could learn from your club. You keep knocking yourselves but with such small crowds you cant have a super stadium it would not be cost effective. Still your stewarding is really good and nice to see them with a laid back roll as at chester they think they are the law. Your snack bars are Great your addmission is great and your small band of fans are the most friendly I have ever come across and i have been to some places. maybe a small roof would be nice for you but there is a roof down the touch line on both sides so at least you have one if it rains. I really hope you stay up and carry on building and looking at accy you atre on a par with Macc when they first arrived in the league and look what they have done over time. Good luck and Keep the Faith. |
Re: Invasion
nice to hear an objective view for a change. Even the most diehard fan struggles to see the good things when life is a struggle, and it is certainly that at the moment.
A non Stanley fan can stand back away from the bad things and see what is good at the club. Remember where we came from. |
