2br crossbar challenge

I'll pay it myself (hmm then again just in case) if anybody, at random from a ticket in the programme, hits the bar twice out of three attempts!!!!

see fishy site.

should be fun though. I reckon two out of the first three will end up upside down. New crowd killer competition - I hope its at the Accy end so we really jibe em if they are away fans!

I can see the Clayton End roof scheme replaced with a big net.

Nah, screw that... If they are away fans, make 'em run after the ball if it flys over! :D

Careful Macca, it was won a couple of times at the Turf last season :D

Blimey we should be used to it after Robbie Elliots kicks into the clayton end during half time when he was here [not many prospective new goalies in there tho:D

Our players don't even get close enough to hit the bar Doug, can assure you it was the fans. It's do-able :D

Are you saying that somebody actually hit the crossbar 2 out of 3 times?

I'm pretty sure it was done twice, maybe even three times. They even make you carry a giant cheque round for a lap of honour lol.

Re: 2br crossbar challenge

What's new? Stanley did this either last season or the season before, for about 4 matches - 1 hit from 2 attempts in the penalty area "D". After a few weeks, a guy actually did it, and won a half season ticket. Can't remember it being carried on after that!! But it was fun while it lasted.

VitalStanley 17-02-2007 19:24

Re: 2br crossbar challenge

Did it go down well? They did it at Burnley last season but they ditched it this season

Re: 2br crossbar challenge

Yes was quite god entertainment for 5 minutes. A lad came up missed the first one hit the second with a loud applause from the ultras! However the third shot missed so he didnt win the grand!

Red-Osbornello 17-02-2007 20:30

Re: 2br crossbar challenge

'twas funny. He really celebrated like a mad man when he hit it on the second attempt. Pressure must have been enormous! :P

StockportJack 17-02-2007 21:21

Re: 2br crossbar challenge

That second one had to be a fluke. He barely got it off the floor in the other two!

Scott_ASFC 17-02-2007 22:37

Re: 2br crossbar challenge

looked liek he toe pooked hte 2nd one but he did well though

Redraine 17-02-2007 23:17

Re: 2br crossbar challenge

When I started to read my programme I realised there was no ticket anywhere inside so went back to the seller who said "Oh they forgot to put 'em in - someone will come round later with them!" What the heck was that all about?
Of course I never got a ticket - anyone else got mugged like me? Certain I would have won the grand.:D

Zero 18-02-2007 03:29

Re: 2br crossbar challenge

I didn`t get a ticket with my prog either, but looked on it as a lucky escape from embarrasing myself in front of the Ultras.

It was great when his second shot hit, everyone`s attitude totally changed and were willing him to do it. Something to tell his grandchildren.

"shot hit" good job I didn`t do a typo on that bit :)

StockportJack 18-02-2007 08:32

Re: 2br crossbar challenge

How come they needed to film it for 'insurance' purposes?!

The County fans were laughing at first when he hit it straight along the ground, but when he hit it on the second attempt we were all willing him to do it and clapped him off.

It's a hard thing to do, the footballs they use are quite hard aswell so its toug to get them that high over that length a distance.

accymel 18-02-2007 11:42

Re: 2br crossbar challenge

I got a programme but i got no ticket either as much as a grand would be very useful, i dunno whether i was relieived as i'd be too nervous to take one & fluff up badly in front of everyone - phew :o

Kisser 18-02-2007 12:00

Re: 2br crossbar challenge

The programme seller should have given you a ticket when you bought your programme, but there was only me and my dad giving them out. They forgot to give them to the lads behind the goals! Hopefully it will be a bit better organised next time and everyone will get a ticket. I would love to give it a go - but wonder if Eric would let me on the pitch with stilletos!

You’d be alright in stilettos Kisser, it’ll help with the drainage, have you never seen the lads giving it a good forking. (sorry).

maccawozzagod 18-02-2007 13:08

Re: 2br crossbar challenge

The lad at the Crown steps was giving them out when it was quiet but nearer kick off when queues were forming it was too hard to rip them off quickly enough, so a few would have been missed there.

Redraine 18-02-2007 16:41

Re: 2br crossbar challenge

My seller was just inside the Clayton end turnstile and no sign of any tickets at all

Re: 2br crossbar challenge

Quality entertainment...!!!

Well worth the 540 mile round trip, spec when the poor lad was greeted with a rendition of "Strawberry blonde, your havin a laugh". Brightened up my day, result not so good tho'. Stockport look a quality side although I thought Stanley didn't really get hold of midfield and keep the ball untill Toddy came on and got amongst 'em a bit, Tony Grant wasted too many balls for me, but thats my opinion. Interesting to see Coley's comments in one of National papers admitting that he got his formation wrong, good on him.!!

We weren't looking at willies at all!!! :wacko8:

DO YOU MIND SIR!!!!!:p

We were discussing the unavoidable view of Rogers at corners and the fact that his shorts were inappropriately tight and displaying his rather scanty black underwear for all to see!!! Talk about paying £5 for £3 to be stuck up your bum!!!
Needless to say we took a rather dim view and turned away!!!:D

Good move and quickly dealt with. Well done to the staff

Re: 2br crossbar challenge

Definately a good idea, at least everyone gets a chance and no messing about for us sellers tearing off tickets.
