Roof (boring)
Is the roof stated in various local papers that was to be put up at the end of january invisible or are they tom peppering again. There is NO excuse the funds from the players sold should cover it because they havent spent a penny of that apart from the tinkers putting a bit more gravel/rubber down for 100 pounds. Its not alot to ask for in the year 2007. Someone is Tom peppering. Dont make promises and no-one will keep chucking boring subjects like this out. Its our money not erics. So give us our roof - in my lifetime prefrebly.

Re: Roof (boring)
I dont think it was stated in any papers, but various people had been told in dec/early january by people in the know that the roof will go up hopefully at the end of January and they could be quoted on that.
My understanding of the current situation is that an application was made for funding to whomsoever it would be towards the cost of it. This funding is likely to be granted as per the taylor report, or football trust blah blah etc etc. These bids are not considered on the grounds of how much money you have or have not but rather by whether you are entitled. I dont know whether we have the money or not but I do know that if we erected the thing it would not be paid for retrospectively, but if we wait until such time as they grant the money, or better still, send the cheque, it would be irrelevant how much money we have in the bank. If it is gonna cost 200k and they may pay 50% then we would save 100k by waiting a few more weeks/months. I want this roof as much as anybody for purposes of noise making, but if it means we get to keep a hundred thousand pound then I would be willing to wait. This explanation is by no means 100% accurate as it is a reading between the lines job but it would explain things. The club could and should keep people inform, as you rightly say (ish) it is our money/investment/club and we would like to know what is going on, but sometimes things are not as black and white as they seem. The problem has only arose due to mismanagement of the situation for far too long and now nobody believes anything that anybody says about owt. The roof will come and the Ultras will raise it. The most interesting point about ground development will be met by how many seats we must add within three years of getting into the football league. There are some stats on confguide (cant be bothered to find em now) that state FL rules are there must be either 1500 or 2000 seats available. I think we have 900 (?) so something will have to go up somewhere. If we stay up this year then the plans have to be almost ready by the start of next season to allow time for building works to be completed in time. Hopefully we stay where we are this year but by this time next season the next 10-15 years of stanley future will be mapped out for all to see and this can only promise exciting times ahead |
Re: Roof (boring)
Thanks for that Macca, makes sense to me.
However, how now got the mental picture of a seated Clayton End, albeit under a roof. Wouldn't go down very well with people, but would be cheaper than redeveloping Whinney Hill. :( |
Re: Roof (boring)
ooh buggering eck!
I remember in the conference they had plans drawn for developing that side for a cost of 400 grand and stated it was a guarantee should we go up to the FL and that it would be covered by the Football trust, I dont know if anything has changed.... |
Re: Roof (boring)
A redeveloped side stand which could be part-segregated as/when necessary would mean we wouldn't have to turn away visiting fans on the rare occasions when someone wants to bring more than 1400 ...... or a granny who needs to sit down.
So much to do and so little money :( |
Re: Roof (boring)
A bit of nit picking Macca mate, we have 1200 seats in the main stand at present but you are right when you say we should have more withing 3 years, I thought it was 3,000 but may be wrong. I too thought the whinney hill was up for redevelopment when we got into the league. As for away fans who need to sit down, they come into the main stand at the changing room end

Re: Roof (boring)
the club might have said the end of january, but once again they didn't state which year!!!!
Learn to be indiferent to it its much easier. |
Re: Roof (boring)
Finally found it, this gives the entry requirements to the football league, probably a bit more but for the lazy buggers I have nicked it
http://www.confguide.com/newsArticle.do?id=826 Three levels of requirement are defined: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- qualification criteria 4000 capacity with ability to reach 5000 500 seats with ability to reach 1000 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- admission criteria 5000 capacity 1000 seats with ability to reach 2000 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- membership criteria 5000 capacity 2000 seats -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Qualification Criteria present the level required for promotion. Any club that believes it will be in a position to qualify for promotion from the Conference must submit, by 1st March in that season, evidence that it can comply with the Qualification Criteria. The Admission Criteria is a level that must be achieved by 1st May of the club's first season in the Football League. Any club not meeting the required level by 1st March will need to demonstrate to the League's satisfaction that it can comply by 30th April. Failure in this instance would lead to loss of all points and therefore automatic relegation back to the Conference. The Membership Criteria is the full requirement to remain in the league. A newly-promoted Conference side has until 31st May at the end of their 3rd season in the League to achieve this requirement. floodlighting Each division of the league sets a minimum floodlighting standard. For Division 3, this is 350 Average Lux Value assessed at a large number of points around the pitch, with a minimum at any one point of 210 Lux. This is part of the Admission Criteria, so must be met by 1st May in first season after promotion. |
Re: Roof (boring)
so to put into English for the lesser educated
by the 1st May this season we need to have 1000 seats (got) with the ability to produce 1000 more (definitely space) and capacity of 5000 (got) to gain the admission criteria. by 31st May 2009 (the day Boco's contract expires?) we need to have 5000 capacity (will still have) and must have 2000 seats (anybody's guess) or we will lose all our points and thus be relegated from whence we came. So assuming we stay put this season we have 27 months to add 1000 seats. Like I said the next season will be a pivotal one for the club and could shape the immediate future. It will be exciting and no doubt as much of a white knuckle ride as this one. But hopefully will have much more off the field news for the fans to talk about. Cant wait |

Re: Roof (boring)
Just another quick point for all, the floodlights are being upgraded end of this season to comply with lux ruling.
|
Re: Roof (boring)
floodlights have been updated this week in fact the work men where there on Tuesday adding some extra lights which will increase the flux level

Re: Roof (boring)
Does the news that Whinney Hill is to be made into a stand mean that the roof is being put on hold for another season or two. Does antbody know if we received this money promised, the club said in Accrington Observer end of January work would commence. Does anybody have an answer?

Re: Roof (boring)
the cowshed roof will be recycled into a clayton end roof.
