What happened to the Ultras today?
I've gotta ask, why the silence today guys, you normally give it your all for 90mins but there were long periods of total silence today on the Clayton end...........any reason?

Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
The drum makes a hell of a difference.

Re: What happened to the Ultras today?

Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
There was a text it said "No Drums today boys please cos we don`t want any complaints while were waiting fert planning permission"
IMO anyone who doesn`t want to hear the drum so much should hurry along the roof so as to deflect it onto the pitch. The Ultras were really fired up for this and it was a real kick in the teeth, no one could be arsed with any banners or getting songs together. It`s credit to Stanley`s play today that they got them fired up and saw something to cheer about. When the Ultras are giving their all to max out the atmosphere and our own club robs them of their greatest tool it`s hardly surprising for some of them to be muttering "Why do we bother ?" I myself would have dearly loved to be able to shout some more but I`ve got a rough neck and a 4 gig weekend, I think a few people probably got rough necks and the drumS would have helped that on nicely. (Trust me I`m a doctor) Anyway lets hope it`s sulk over soon and extra rowdy for Rochdale. |
Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
So You are telling us that a 'text' message saying 'no drum today' silenced the ULTRAS!!   .............and made them 'SULK'..............OMG
I'm sorry guys but IMHO that is so childish, especialy in the light of certain members of the Ultras coming on here and tearing strips off anyone who deems to disagree with JC's management' or the Teams performance......and then telling us all to get behind the Team and sing 'em to victory................c'mon you cant have it both ways!!!! |
Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
Why should it always be down to the Ultras? The Clayton end as a whole should take more responsibility and follow their lead more than they do. Yes, the Utras are usually very vocal, but on the whole the Accy crowd is very quiet - mind you, I am deaf!:)

Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
I stood at the corner of the Clayton End and the main stand for a change and was pleasantly surprised to hear a bit of noise coming out of the main stand again, not much but a start. It might only be a few people but sooner or later the free admission schoolkids will join that and there will be a group.

Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
Cause we turn up to the ground with flags and drums and get treated like criminals by the bouncers at the gate...ffs this is our home ground, we got treated better at Darlington!
Coley comes out in week saying make OUR home like a fortress....But then we cant have a drum because of some planning permission! Its up to the club now...what do they want more...alienate their fans or keep the locals happy? |

Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
After we'd equalised for the second time yesterday, the atmosphere was immense. I was on the Whinney Hill side as normal and there was a surge of noise coming from all round the ground. It's a shame it's not more like that, more often.

Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
People seem to forget that the majority of the 'ultras' are very young. They're allowed to behave like naughty, sulky children from time to time.

Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
I was coming in when I saw the lads having there bags searched. I didn’t say out at the time but I thought what the hell are they doing? Why search people who are well known to the club and form part of the backbone of the clubs support.
The board needs to talk to its employees and contractors and tell them to get a grip. Does the club and fans know that these people are working in small groups and even alone to make it better for everyone? Get behind these people please without them we wouldn’t have Photographs, A Supporters Club, A Fanzine, Banners and Flags, Drums. None of these people our doing it for themselves, There doing it for the Fans and the Club. |
Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
I was refused my car onto the car park as I didn't have a pass????? 1:45 (15 minutes earlier than the cut-off) and after one steward waved me through I was told by Alan that no pass no come through and its packed anyway. No it wasn't and as such I wasnt carrying all the stuff for the Supporters Club such as membership books, badges, cards etc. As well as various catalogues that I needed to show people for trophies, and merchandising. They'll have to wait.

Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
Typical of the club; somebody there has forgotten we are still a small club and has decided to be a bit heavy handed;I reckon it's got more than a little to do with the pitch vandalism.

Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
I don't think I was quiet :o

Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
As I said elsewhere, the fans don't matter. Sad but true! (if you don't believe me, ask Russell Whalley)

post 1 It shouldn't be a case of do you know who I am from anybody, but in the light of the bag searches etc for the Ultras, and myself not getting access to the car park even though there was space and I offered to obtain the relevant pass - even though not required, there needs to be better consultation between certain parties. We ARE a small club and every single person that passes through the gates is as important as the next one. We MUST learn the lessons that treating people in a disdainful manner will get us nowhere. They MUST learn that certain people are allowed certain 'privileges' and should not be treated like common criminals. Whether that means giving out passes or whatever, we must not allow people to feel like they are not wanted. Many of us have been at this ground for a long time and we know the rules. How many people do the stewards have to throw out? What kind of a problem do we have at home? or away? Get with the flow bouncers and stop creating an atmosphere where there isn't one. |
Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
I had a bit of a run in with one of the security staff on the Clayton end turn stiles as they wouldn`t let my son que to pay cash at the consessions turn stile so i asked why and they said this side is ticket only, so i said is it hell its for people paying cash as well but they wouldn`t have it and made him que in the full price que, until he got there and was told to go to the other turn stile, at which i just smilled at the guys and said i told you, what gets me is if they are employed by the club how the hell do they not know which turn stile is for what, and not only that they were not the most pleasent of people even though they were in the wrong.

Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
if any member of the supporters club feels they have a grievance they can put it into writing and I will pass it on officially ........
of course if anybody else has a grievance they can also put it into writing and send it themselves. |

Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
Mick has sorted the problem with the drum, eric wants it on the ground...we will now be bringing the drum to all home games and away when we are allowed :)
Mick has also assured me he will have words with the bouncers about how they act Well done the club on sorting it :) So a return of noise at all home games :) |

Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
Sadly some minority supporters have been abusing the entry to the ground by sneaking alclohol in at the home end. It is not a case of the club capitalising on your money in the clubhouse it is an offence under the 1985 Football Grounds Act-Alcohol as clearly shown on the regs board at all turnstiles. As usual this has unfortunate repercussions for genuine fans. Because of the reputation of some of our recent visitors security has been stepped up & some of the security lads are new to the ground. I have been trying to encourage along with Mick a friendly face of the stewarding & security team, who are principally there for your safety & well being. However sometimes when you have been abused by certain sectors querying your home life etc, as I have witnessed from again, a minority, feelings can rise & the lads are only human after all. The stewards have been through a learning curve with the rise into league football & some of the actions are due to this rise in status. We are under pressure to get things right from both ends as we are regularly inspected by Lancs Co Council & have also been undergoing assesment for NVQ qualifications-taking time out of our own personal time to attend courses without pay! In the main we know & do stress that the home fans are great & can be relied upon to behave, but your co-operation in assisting our work in entry to the ground is appreciated & sshould you have any issues as in this section of posting please let me or Mick know. We may not always give you the reply you may want but as stated before, we have a great responsibility in ensuring all genuine fans can safely attend, hopefully enjoy & go away from the ground at the end of the day safely. Sorry if this is long winded but there are two sides to the coin.

Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
Good post big al but the problem of Russell Whalley said it all, certain people think the fans shouldn't have an opinion and treat them like something stuck on the bottom of their shoe.
|
Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
and also the searching of bags of fans well known to the stewards or the refusal of entry without a pass (never needed one) to the car park for the chairman of the supporters club?

Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
Pathetic, If RW ever takes over i would not step foot on the ground. They don't give a monkees for supporters thats why we dont have a roof, bar etc, and now we cant get an atmosphere (drum) or a pint in the clubhouse before the game. What really makes me laugh aswell as the warners arms doormen stood on turnstiles( why do you think town centre nightlife is dying) is the ban on bottle tops. When purchasing a soft drink minus the bottle top, i get an explanation of it could be used as a missile. WHY are we allowed to take coins in our pockets then? far worse than a bottle top. Just makes me laugh.
|
Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
I agree with ish but the bottle top is not the missile - it is the bottle with the top on, which makes it far harder and far easier to throw. I accepted that rule - although it sounds daft, because every other ground bar Mansfield seem to enforce it.

Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
Do me a favour Jesus was a red and buy a bottle of fizzy pop, drink about a third, put the top back on, then shake it vigorously, so it becomes solid feeling, then hit yourself over the head with it and see if it hurts!!!
Thats why they don't allow bottle tops, coz in that state a fizzy drinks bottle feels like a brick. |
Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
But flasks with coffee in feel like being hit with a sponge? coins, lighters in the eyes or face would not hurt? what about all the loose stones and pebbles outside and at the back of the clayton end. Do me a favour sparkie stick to ladies soccer talk.

Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
Glad to hear that people are listening JT. Let’s hope that a dialogue we the club continues to improve matters and that the fan base is shown continuing respect and visa versa.

Re: What happened to the Ultras today?
You only mentioned pop bottles Jesus is a red you did not mention any of the other items. And I quite agree with you that other things are just as offensive, but as form deputy cheif steward of ASFC then I felt it nessasary to inform you of the dangers. If you want more info I'm sure Mick Schultz or Big Al will be only too happy to talk to you.
Now going back to the Ladies football talk. . . . . . did anyone see Leanne Sandersons goal last sunday for Arsenal . . . . . . No ?!!!! Dust anyone?!!!! |
