Like a Morgue?

Coley apparently thinks so and is once again pleading to the apathetic Accy public.

Well whats his excuse for any other home match when we have made noise yet we still dont get a result?!

It didn't work against Rochdale on Saturday (i know it was away, but still)

Re: Like a Morgue?

I have to agree with Red-Osbornello, if the fans didn`t lift them on Saturday i dont think anything will.
I couldn`t make it last nights game so can`t comment on last nights crowd, but if Whalleys was our first real chance all night then i`m not surprised they wern`t singing that much.
The players have also got to want to help themselves to stay in this league.

Re: Like a Morgue?

Hmmm... Coleman blamed the players not listening to him for Saturday's performance, then he's blaming the fans for Tuesday. If he keeps going perhaps he'll eventually hit the really reason for our general 'tinpottedness'.

How can he possibly blame anyone or anything else, he's the manager!

Haven't we been here before?

It isn't Liverpool, people don't live and breathe football. Those of us that do are giving Stanley everything we've got, the club has to help us to bring other people in. This messageboard has suggested all sorts of things to get more people in, but the club have done too little, and maybe too late :(

Please excuse my ignorance but I thought Stanley was packed out these days? When did people stop going?

In the 1950s.

Seriously, though, we struggled to attract punters when we were playing attractive football and winning titles. We're not going to attract fans the way we've been over the last few months.

Correct in both cases.

[ Sorry TM, the really reason (sic) ?]

I was concentrating on spelling tinpottedness correctly. ;)

I thought that there was a fair bit of singing on the Clayton End last night. It seemed to wane as the evening wore on because the team didn't give the fans anything to sing about. The morgue-like atmosphere was caused more by the fact that the ground was semi-deserted...yet again. It's a somewhat worrying fact that if you look at the three lowest gates for football league games over the last five seasons (1384, 1304 and 1234) they're at the FES...and we've only been there a season!

Re: Like a Morgue?

This is terrible!!!

We all have opinions, of what should have happened and what should happen in the future, however I am not sure that we can influence an outcome, believe me I tried and accepted failure gracefully.

IMHO we are now in the lap of the Gods!!

If we stay up, and I would sell my soul to the devil if it made the difference, I just hope the lessons are truely learnt.

All we can do is turn-up on mass and sing our hearts out, like our (footballing) lifes depended on it............cos in reality it does!!

God look kindly upon the patrons Of Accrington Stanley Football Club!

It was ok for Mangy and Leam last night. ;)

Re: Like a Morgue?

I also think we lost fans just for the fact that we became a league team, people dont mind following Stanley along side say Burnley, Blackburn, Man U etc when we were a non league team, but people dont usually follow 2 league teams and i think we lost fans for that reason alone, i could be wrong but there used to be more Burnley and Blackburn hats and scarves last season than what you see now on the terraces.

Re: Like a Morgue?

Coleman should be disgusted with that comment, if anything he should have done the decent thing and admitted that he has taken us backwards this season. The support on Saturday was outstanding and the players and management let everyone down. I have had my fill of his excuses, time to go Coley you have lost the plot.

I came late last night ,due to being at ameeting but was turned away by two stewards, Ithought we are desperate for support.

Re: Like a Morgue?

Davey if that happens again you need to go to the old pass gate where the players go in, there are always people who do the turnstiles around there and they can usually help or at least get hold of mick. The majority of our current stewards are unfamiliar with our lowly little club (and also with helpfullness and politeness!!!) They wouldn't know to send you round to that gate.

I have to agree. Who signs the players, who picks the team, who coaches them ? It's not the supporters. Following the latest ineligible player(s) fiasco I think it's pretty obvious that changes need to made somewhere.
Captain Catastrophe says in this week's 'Observer' he was disappointed not to be picked on Tuesday, the gaffer told him 2 games in 4 days would be too much for him. The gaffer should have been brutally honest and told him after the display on Saturday at Rochdale he was lucky not to be looking for another club.

Does that mean he will be in the team tomorrow at Swindon. Coley will probably drop Almeda, switch Edwards to centre half and bring in Cav, who will play all over the pitch except where he should play.
