Apathy

How come users of this site want people to come to Stanley on a Saturday or a Tuesday or whatever day we play, when fans CANNOT be bothered to turn up to organised functions that have been well advertised. UKCowboy had made the effort to book an artist (Carl Shay) for tonight for a miserly £2 admission charge. Idea being to bring funds into the club we all supposedly love. To be honest, it was embarrassing tonight when only 16 YES 16 people attended to listen to Carl, and although we had a fantastic evening I really did feel for Pete, who had persuaded the OSC to try this out. Now obviously, this cannot be allowed to continue otherwise the OSC is going to have no funds left at all, but when others on this site and in other media have complained about the apathy of the folk of Accrington, we cannot support our own club!!!
I was disgusted with the turnout, OK so maybe we wouldn't have covered the costs on this occasion, but we expected more than turned up.

Rant Over

Maybe a poll for better suitability of day/nite would of been better TBH sunday night is not a great time to pull in the crowds being a busy domestic night for many with families!!

Sorry to hear it wasn't as expected:(

I've gotta say I had a whale of a time and it was actually 20 that turned up  ;) . Carl shay was excellent and many people missed a really good night

Carl Shay just isn't sexy enough darling.

Now, if you were to get some strippers on, female of course, and turn the place into a titty bar for the night then aye up, I think you might, I say just might Ashley lad, get a bumper crowd!!

You could use the changing rooms for private dances and maybe even the physios room for 'extras'.

Bye 'eck staveros, a think tha might of hit on somethin here!

Oldest trade known to man Mr Wilkes. Thanks Amos.

My pleasure.

Re: Apathy

Sunday nights are the best option available to the OSC at the present moment.

a) the artist is cheaper. It would have cost about an extra £80 to book somebody for a saturday and still no guarantees of people turning up

b) every other pub/club seems to have something on for saturdays or fridays and we would be competing with more established venues.

c) plenty of people still go out on sunday nights.

Twas a good night Pete, just a shame that too many people want to leave it others to organise and support such nights.

Sorry to hear it wasnt a good turn out Pete, as you know we had genuine reasons or would've been there. Glad to hear that those who did go enjoyed the night though

If I lived closer to Accrington, I would be very happy to come to the events organised by the OSC, but I am over 200 miles away and have to be at work on Monday mornings in London. ;)

I was at the Swindon match though.

Aye, well done Pete, was a good night. It was a shame that people didn't show up, but I'm like Harwood Red, I enjoyed it. Although she wasn't driving afterwards... that part of the evening was just as entertaining on the motorway :D

Re: Apathy

Whilst I appreciate not everyone is in a position to come on a Sunday night due to distance eg yourself Urban Spaceman, others such as Southern Red and Jimbo of course (mustn't forget Jimbo) to name but a few and I also appreciate that not every supporter will want to come, the fact that only 16 or 20, whichever is the correct figure, turned up is just not right. The OSC and in this case Pete went to a lot of time and effort - all I am saying is lets get behind the OSC because the funds are for the club (with what went behind the bar last night). Staveros, whilst I am sure a stripper would be nice not everyone is wanting to look at a chest be it male or female (might be wrong on the male one though - if the chippendales had been on - well)

I had a good time last night. Thanks Pete for organising the event, it's a pity that more people didn't turn up.
