Thank You Accrington Stanley

Now i've got home, dried out, warmed up, defrosted with the help of a nice chicken tikka vindaloo I would like to say thanks for a great day, free admission, good crowd, plenty of Guinness and 3 points to finish it off with.
Sure many will post behind me to show their appreciation for what you have done today.
Many of us would have paid anyway and will be paying next week, for those who don't usually go think of it this way, if you go next week you will have seen 2 matches for the price of one - still cheap isn't it :D
hope to see you next week.

Absolutely….

A fantastic gesture from the club, a fantastic game and apart from the odd juvenile dick, a good crowed. One can only hope that those who braved and saw through the weather and enjoyed an entertaining performance by the lads come back again and again. Thank you Accrington Stanley.

Well done Eric and the Board, a gamble but hopefully well worth it.

Stanley played with spirit this afternoon (the one they forgot to take to Rochdale) and had they not clinched the three points, I'd have still come away happy. Although Torquay appeared to be getting a grip towards the half time mark, the second half was a good ol' rollercoaster reducing me to a bag of profanity spouting nerves. As it is, I'm well impressed. I think it might be worth the pnumonia! Seriously, was so wet I was jealous of those sitting in the main stand and I bypassed the pub on the way home infavour of a hot cup of tea and dry clothes.

Thankyou Eric for the freebie today - your plan worked. :D

A great game and cheers Eric for the gesture. If i have one gripe (i'm aloud one gripe free game or not) it was with the idiots (best i can think of to describe them without swearing) who tried to ruin the minutes silence, safe to say unless we have anymore free games they will not be HEARD from again.

At least they got theire come uppance with them getting beaten at home by West Ham after leading 1 nil.:) Forget that lot though - well done to our lads today, all played as though they meant it and weren't gonna be happy with anything less than 3 points (which they thoroughly deserved). Bring on the Welsh next week - can't bloody wait ;)

Can't believe it! Me and Mrs H get back from a week's holiday in Rome late this afternoon. I turn on ceefax and find we've won with a late goal...great stuff. Then I see the gate....am I still suffering from the after-effects of too much vino?... have the people of Accrington suddenly realised they've got a football team?...finally, realisation dawns when I look on t'fishy site. A bold move by the club and one that seems to have paid off. But it's just my luck...the most atmospheric game all season (I would imagine) and I've missed it! Still, a great result! :)

You were not alone in missing the goal, every week i see people leaving early, come on, we're well known for scoring late late goals.
Hats off to you though for making the long journey up for the home games, especially as some of those who live walking distance away can't be arsed to make the effort.

DISGUSTED.
I have been on big grounds for big games in the past where a minutes silence has been totally observed with 75,000 people, I have heard of Burnleys so called fans disrepecting in the past. Probably mugs who attach themselves to that part of lancs or it was probably the first games they had been in their lives. I think if it was free every week we would start to see banning orders being issued. Its safe to say that they wouldnt of been there if it wasnt free.

Lancsdave,

The MAJORITY of Burnley fans who have been on the FES have been NO PROBLEM, however ther have been a few who have let themselves down over the years,ie the guys who 'threw' their so called mate OVER the wall of the Clayton End at a pre-season friendly:eek:  ......how He wasnt more seriously injured is beyond me!

We are NOT tarring all Burnley fans with the same brush ( although it can read like that sometimes)........merely the idiotic few mate!

Actually where we were stood, we had to put up with some rather unsavoury Blackburn 'fans', at least we did till half-time when they decided to go!!

You will always get Idiots no matter where you go, and I know that you dont need me to tell you that mate............just look at Doug and His famous 'gestures' :D :D :D :p :p :p

An early town charter from 1189 granted by King Richard describes it as ‘Hereford in Wales’. This charter also gave Hereford it’s city status.

What do we do? I think almost every Accrington Stanley fan would put their hand deep into their pocket for the club if they won the Lottery big time. But how much would be too much. What are the limits of sensibility?

On the back of KSH’s generous offer to pay us all in on anything over a tenner what would you do for the club on the back of a £1,000,000.00 win.

Obviously I’d stick 50k in towards the Roo (there’s no F in Roof) and would sponsor at least a couple of games in my own name and offer limited support for a development project of some kind, you know, “rehabilitate a Burnley Support” type of thing.

On a more serious note if I ever win the Cross bar Challenge I promise to give the Supporters club at least £200 of it, and I pledge a third of any 50/50 winnings to the Supporters club.

cheers Doug, thanking you muchly sir!

and if I win the lottery Doug I'll make you a life member of the OSC! I'll buy a tree to hang bananaman on, I'll build the roof and put a lot of money into the commercial side. Give the club the facilities to earn its own money.

build and furnish four catering stalls
extend the clubhouse to include proper sized clubshop, thus providing ....
a new office or two in the office block
double tier the offices to include extra hospitality in the roof trusses
buy accy amateurs ground (or at least just the car park) and start charging for car parking
move the bloody away fans to the Clayton End. Shove them and their damn coaches as far out of the way as possible from the pitch leaving managers and officials so that we reserve the right to boo them off
look at feasible ways of developing the Whinney Hill stand into a family stand and filling it
buy 2 or three minibuses and some community liaison officers to staff em and take back the town from claret and blue and white.
Provide free away travel for all season ticket holders on proviso that season tickets remain reasonably priced
send christmas cards to all OSC members!

then I'll be skint
