Beat Macclesfield and we stay up.

Just get down to the Crown Ground on Saturday.

No excuses. Just get there, please.

Let's show Paul Ince who the real Governor is.

I'll be there but beating Macc doesn't mean we stay up.
It would put us on 50 points. 2 wins for Boston would put them on 51.
Could be squeaky bum on the last day of season yet...

Re: It couldn't be simpler

Beating Macc would mean they were 3pts behind with vastly inferior goal difference to make up in the last game. Boston wouldn't matter

Macclesfield would have to win their last game by at least 13 goals!

All very well but this isn't exactly the best place to pick up stragglers  99% here already come to every game they can :)

Re: It couldn't be simpler

Everybody get a load of theose posters printed off (use college/work/schools/ neighbours if you can it's cheaper), and start canvassing town. With Wrexham winning last night, this match is even more important. This IS the biggest match in our history, stuff Woking, Torquay etc. they've been and gone. THIS is the match that could give our tiny Lancashire cotton town another chance to host League fototball next season.

I know it's preaching to the converted on here......but PLEASE everybody do your part to encourage somebody to come with you. One last rallying cry from the townspeople is needed, and every Accringtonian can play their part.

ON STANLEY ON!!!

Re: It couldn't be simpler

I wish I could be there but sadly, it is impossible this weekend. However, I'll be there in spirit and following on Sky Sports.

Oggy has it exactly right - beat Macclesfield by any score and it should be all over. :D The thing that Stanley have over Macclesfield, Boston and Wrexham is a vastly superior goal difference - 11 goals better than Macclesfield, 13 better than Wrexham and 17 better than Boston. We cannot rely on Torquay beating Boston on Saturday (though they might do that) - and Walsall slipped up against Bury at home last Saturday in a big surprise. Whilst the Saddlers might well bounce back and thrash Wrexham (which would ease the pressure on us), we cannot count on that either, though Walsall have the incentive of still being in the running for the title (should Hartlepool lose at Rochdale, which is a distinct possibility in Rochdale's present form).

One thing we do know is that either Boston or Wrexham will drop at least two points in their final game of the season because they play one another :D , and we don't want to be playing MK Dons knowing that we have to win to stay up !

Knowing Boston's record for somehow managing to win matches when all around them is collapsing financially, I would not be at all surprised to see them stay up, with wins over both Torquay and Wrexham and take a 10 point hit next season, though personally, I want to see the cheating ba****ds relegated this season and my favourites to go down would be Macclesfield. I wonder how Paul Ince is feeling now ? ;)

So it is simple - a win over Macclesfield and we will stay up !!! :D :) :D

Re: It couldn't be simpler

If the worst comes to the worst and you do need a win at MK then you couldn't pick a better time. They are guaranteed 3rd place and will probbably rest key players before the play offs so they don't get injured.

entwisi 25-04-2007 09:25

Re: It couldn't be simpler

actually, playing MK at this stage isn't bad as they are guaranteed play offs so will probably want to save their best players etc for them. you don't go all out in a match that has effectively no bearing when teh next two games decide your promotion or not

Bugga the tension of waiting for the Dons game, put the Maccelsfield sods to sleep on Saturday and give us a week of no stress.

Re: It couldn't be simpler

Hi everyone I am a Dons fan.
I hope you get the result you need against Macc on Saturday.
An awfull lot will be decided on saturday.
With Bristol R winning last night it sets them up for a big clash at home with Swindon on Saturday. A win will put BR in the playoffs.
It would also put us tree points behind Swindon for the final day of the season if we beat Wycombe on Saturday. If that is the case the Dons will be all out to Muller you on the last day as they will need a good score line
to equal Swindons goal difference.(providing that is Walsall put one over swindon on the last day)We still harbour a very very outside chance of an auto place. That said Swindon still only need 1 point out of two games.
But back to the last match even if we are in the playoffs we will be out to beat you with our best team for forms sake.A couple of seasons ago we played tranmere who were in a similar position to us now and they rested key players. We won and stayed in league 1 albeit temporarily and they lost in the playoffs , Martin Allen will not make that same mistake. So please win on saturday as we are disliked enough that I would not like the addition of we sent you guys out the league.!!!!
Best of Luck for saturday, I will be watching scorelines avidly while cheering the Dons at Wycombe.

Looks like a win against Macc might be required after all then :)

I'll be coming up for the match on Saturday - and I certainly hope to maintain my record of never having seen Stanley lose at the FES.

Basically, the club in 22nd position on Saturday night will be in deep doo doo. Hopefully that will be either Macclesfield or Boston, personally, I hope it is Boston. All this we are leaving the vote till after the final whistle on the final game is a load of tosh. If they must go into a CVA, then it should be done now and the 10 points deducted. It looks like they are trying to cheat their way of staying in the league, just like they cheated to get into it. The club should do the decent thing, hell no-one cried in '62 for the loss of Accrington Stanley (except the people of Accrington of course), so why should anyone cry for a conman running a football club.
