Carl Baker
Does anybody know if Carl Baker from Southport is stil a target? I know he was after him earlier on this year but just wondering, seems like a good player from what you read

Re: Carl Baker
This taken from the official southport FC website:
CARL BAKER AGREES NEW DEAL Thursday, May 17, 2007 (0 reads) Port manager Peter Davenport was pleased to announce at lunchtime today that England capped National X1 player Carl Baker has agreed a new deal. Peter Davenport said "The club understands and recognises Carl's desire to play at a higher level. There has been a lot of interest in Carl over recent months. However as yet nobody has tabled a firm bid for Carl. We value Carl highly and until such time that a club matches our valuation Carl will remain a Southport player. Carl is well aware and supportive of this situation. I know Carl has exceptional talent and undoubtedly the ability to step up several levels." |
Re: Carl Baker
I think Altrincham did something similar with Craney, but we still got him. There are ways round this if all parties are in agreement. However, if they are after silly money for a player untried at league level, then he won't be coming to us.

Re: Carl Baker
He's a good player with Southport doing what we should have done with Toddy as they will now get a fee for him, why did we not get him to sign even if he was going to go?

Re: Carl Baker
Unless you mean like they said in The Godfather? Hold a gun to Todd's head and say, "Either your brains or your signature will be on that contract".
