The afternoon was really dragging for Walter. His first post had ended with ridicule being heaped on his head and he still had time to kill until the other patients came back from their day out. There was only one thing for it - start another pointless post...

Re: all weather pitch

Might be a better idea if the league allowed all weather pitches otherwise you might find every home game being postponed :)

Is there a way of ignoring certain posters on the forum? A kind of ignore list, where you can't see 'contributions' from selected posters?

:Banane08::Banane08:i think if you look at league and fifa legislation for a certain product of artificial pitch you can even get a grant if you let the local community to use it.lancs dave how uptodate is your league legislation you can get your grant through england first eufa gave the go-ahead in 2003 for all competitions except champions league final:Banane08:

A meeting at the FA in May decided the following could be played on artifical pitches of FIFA 1 rating next season;

The following FA Committees have now approved the use of such pitches in their respective competitions for season 2007/08:
  • FA Trophy
  • FA Vase
  • FA Youth Cup (qualifying rounds only)
  • FA Women’s Premier League and Cup
  • FA Sunday Cup
  • FA County Youth Cup
The Premier League and FA Cup are still excluded from the list and as long as the FA Cup in particular remains excluded there is no chance of the football league granting permission otherwise their clubs will have to play all cup matches away from home.

There are I believe 3 teams in next season UEFA Cup who will be playing on artificial pitches so there is some movement but I think it will be quite a few years before they are accepted here again on a wide scale. I think I still have the burns from playing a works match at Deepdale about 20 years ago on the Astroturf :D

Oh yes. I remember on one occasion Bernie Hughes heading a ball downwards, inside the six yard box, and it bouncing up and over the crossbar. It was crazy.

I watched a few games at East End Park when they had the artificial surface and it was terrible. The Gers were poor then but the pitch was awful and was banned so they had to revert to grass. It is a good idea for everyday use but not for professional football.

We almost got an all-weather pitch about 6 years ago - but the residents put a stop to that.

Does it make any more sense with the punctuation ?

I have a video casette here with the 1991 Manx Cup on. The Deepdale match is comical. It just doesn't look like a proper match.

I always thought that our hilly pitch was to our advantage as the opposition aren't familiar with the terrain. Our lads don't need ordinance survey info to navigate it! :D
