letter in observer

has anybody read the accy observer this week ,theres a letter from a councillor whos saying that the freedom of the borough honour for stanley should be withdrawn because stanley are still snubbing the honour, thats what he say's. i dont know? does everybody think stanley should accept it or still snub it?

Re: letter in observer

yes they damn well should!

as the letter says they are in exalted company with suchlike as the Accypals etc and should think themselves lucky to be honoured like that. If they have/had an issue with the council then they should have said so - but the excuse at the time was that they are very busy with the relegation battle. Since that was sorted it would have took two minutes to pick the phone up and give the Del Monte answer.

and then attend a civic reception one evening at our discretion.

Negative publicity is something we can ill afford and this is something that should never need such publicity.

Whalley has a big ego and when he was backed into a corner he did the only thing he could do and chucked his toys out the window and threw a tantrum. Come on Eric now bills have sort of been paid and differences ironed out get down off your high horse and accept the award. Personally I don't think you should have much of a say on this because it's an award for Stanley not you and we the fans want this award.

Re: letter in observer

Freedom of the borough is actually a pretty pointless award really, especially coming from a prat like Britcliffe.

Let's concentrate on staying in the league again next season without any petty distractions.

A lot of people have pride in the history and achievments of the people of this town & will be quick to disagree with you.

It's nothing to do with Britcliffe.

Yep I agree. This should be about the club and the towns people. Not about egos of any party.

"Freedom" usually involves the right to march through the borough or whatever with colours flying, bayonets fixed and drums beating - need more be said, let's have it !

I agree that the Club should accept the honour and be proud to be in such exalted company. Turn all the negativity that has been dragging on for a while between the Club and Council into positivity and both of them move the Club and Accrington forward together as one.
