Burnley Reserves at FES

Nothing on the official site, so may not be happening (even though it is), but Burnley are to play their reserves games at the FES next season.

Re: Burnley Reserves at FES

Burnley haven't officially confirmed it either but apparently one of our coaches let it slip on radio last night.

Doesn't make sense to me if Stanley reserves and Burnley reserves are both going to help wear the pitch out, can only assume there is a few quid in it for Stanley ?

Re: Burnley Reserves at FES

Not again! The last time Burnley's reserves used our pitch for the season, our reserves were unable to play their fixtures at our ground as it would've meant too many games being played on it.

Re: Burnley Reserves at FES

Terrible news, if true. Why don't Burnley want to play their reserve games at Turf Moor? Oh - is it to save their pitch then?:(

Re: Burnley Reserves at FES

Why is this bad news??

There will be an additional 11 matches; so an additional 11 occasions to increase revenue for ASFC.

Who takes the money from the socal club??? ASFC

It also gives us the opportunity to get closer ties with a Championship club.:)

They don't use Turf Moor because of infrastructure type reasons. Why use a stadium that hold 22,000 people for a crowd of 300???? To satisfy THEIR safety certificate they will need stewards, supervisors, ball boys, St. Johns, car park attendants, doctors, gate men, office staff; the list goes on.

They come to the FES and due to the compact nature of our ground; 90%less staff.

Why do all the bigger clubs use alternitive grounds???? Because it costs a fortune to open a large stadium. Bury at Radcliffe, Rochdale at Rossendale, Tranmere @ Vauxhall, Blackburn @ Morecambe, Bolton@ Leyland, Blackpool @ Fleetwood, need I go on???

Oh and there's also a small matter of a friendly on the 14th of July.

Please leave the running of the club in the hands of the experts;)

Does that mean Stanley Season Ticket Holders will get on for free to watch Burnley Reserves? Give something back to the fans as well as another possible incentive for buying a season ticket!;)

:Banane48:Think thats what was in the paper last week! But it would be ideal and Stanley are looking for a place to train on a perminant bases:)

It would be too expensive. Land with planning permission is worth a small fortune.

pretty much non-league grounds? will Morecambe still be hosting Rovers?

I don't particularly like the idea of it and it is true that we stopped playing extra games onit due to the unnecessary wear and tear on the pitch. But if it puts money in then .....

I only went to 1 reserve game when they played there season before last and the bar was open then. I presume it will be open for each game.

As we didn't have a reserve team last season the early matches in particular should see a few hundred on so you should see a healthy till at the end of the night :)

Re: Burnley Reserves at FES

Also, Burnley's reserves are going to be in the same league as ours so would we be allowed to use the same ground? If our lads lose out and are not allowed to play home games on our own pitch I for one won't be a happy bunny :(

Because our pitch was a mess for much of last season and needs all the recovery time available. I'm sure the ground staff do a fantastic job, but because of the history of the site, we have always had a terrific struggle with the crown pitch. Nobody on here seems to know if the "3 figure improvement scheme" has, or is being carried out this close season. If so, let's hope it makes a big difference as I hated the beach football we were forced to play towards the end of last season, though I'm not complaining about the points we won!

Yes we did have a reserve team last season - Played in the Pontins Holiday League Division One West and played the likes of Preston, Manchester City, Bury, Rochdale, Carlisle and Tranmere reserves. All the home matches were played at the FES and season ticket holders got in free - others paid £3 and the bar was open.
