Medicals on 2 new players

Evening Telegraph today. Medicals being carried out on 2 new players. One centre forward who scored 28 non-league goals last season (must be Gareth Seddon?) and a centre half with Scottish Premier experience.

Looks promising. Hope these two come off (if they're any good), as we could do with a boost after having missed out on other players.

It begs the question, how come you get the Evening Telegraph so early. Hope it is true though

Its not the evening telegraph anymore, re-named Lancashire Telegraph and it comes out 1st thing in the morning

Gareth Seddon scored 31 league goals and 6 cup goals last season so it doesn't sound like him.

Paul Benson of Dagenham and Redbridge scored 28 last season and his contract seems to be referred to as last extended at the end of 2005/2006.

No one else in the Nationwide Conference or Conference N or S scored that number of goals.

Gareth Seddon did score 28 league goals in open play and 3 league penalties.

come on then, tell us who :)

Benson's contract was extended till 2009! So it is unlikely to be him:

spl experience sounds good we need some more players :D coley must have something up his sleeve he thinks we will be pushing up the top top end.

Re: Medicals on 2 new players

I think the striker is Aaron Mclean!!!

Conference striker (was only on loan at Peterborough and they have signed a couple more)

Southern based at Grays.

Was joint top scorer in the conference on 13 goals when he went to Posh, scored 10 goals for them in league and cup. The question is how many cup goals did he score for Grays? was it 5?

and we all know that Coley does not give up on a target.

Nickelson 14-06-2007 20:29

Re: Medicals on 2 new players

doubt it

''McLean signed a new deal with Peterborough United until June 2011 on April 5 2007.'' - source wikipedia

Re: Medicals on 2 new players

... the Observer said that two of the transfers will be free and one will be a fee. As Peterborough have been collecting strikers over the last few months I am sure that he would possibly be available at the right price. I wouldn't want to see us pay a high (£150k + ) fee for him but he is a good exciting player and would compliment our style of play perfectly. I really hope it is him.

Old MacDonald has signed for southend on a freebie, As for McLean that would be a great signing and rob has a good point about coley not giving up on his man.

I still hope it is Gareth Seddon!!:p

Re: Medicals on 2 new players

When players come for a medical, isn't it just a precursor to signing? If so, shirley we should be hearing something by tomorrow at the latest?

Unless it's another one of those silly games we seem to enjoy playing, such as the Clayton Donaldson incident?

Re: Medicals on 2 new players

Gareth Seddon looks like a prime candidate for the striker but if he's southern-based maybe it's Rocky Baptiste from Havant & Waterlooville.

And how about ex-Rover, Gordon Greer, who has left Kilmarnock to come back to England as the defender. He's already been linked with Oldham.

Would've thought something would've been announced by now...it seems to be taking a long time...

Re: Medicals on 2 new players

The local radio station today seemed to suggest that both players had recently recovered from injury and the medicals were going to be thorough to reflect that.

Re: Medicals on 2 new players

don't normally get involved in speculation - mainly 'cos this Accy lad has lived long time down south and don't have a clue to wot's occuring back home. Having been impressed with Aaron McLean in our first conference match, I wouldn't be disappointed if it we had him on our side. Noted that after the game at Peterborough, King John walked off the pitch in conversation with him. Think he missed a chunk of last season with a knee - so doubt that he would have come anywhere near the suggested goal tally. Me thinks that old favourite Red Herring is having a field day.
Is Mullers under contract ? - or have I got to chew my nails some more !

Re: Medicals on 2 new players

If you take Seddon on no doubt you'll have to repay his insurance payment following his previous retirement from the game due to injury.

Could be a hefty figure to pay.

The same would apply to us...;););)
