Some answers to all those questions your asking...
Hi guys,
Finally got round to posting some information and to help you chaps out. These two weeks have been mayhem and theres nowt like jumping it at the deep end. I caught up with mr russell this week and hopefully sorted just a few things out. Thought I might aswell join in and tell the rest of you the current news. Firstly yeah I do have a cacky name, don't think I've not heard them before, still most people remember it though.. Yes the roof will cover the entire stand side to side and front to back. and will have the same red girders to blend in. The whinney hill terrace will be a year or two off yet but is in the pipeline trust me. Believe it or not the main reason I'm here as commercial manager is to become a link between you and the club. If you have spoke to me already you will know that I will reply, the accesability to club has been tough previously, however I get paid to make supporting accrington fun again whatever form that may be. Rest assured the club will be more open. The player shirts not being sent out, is something I have inherited, however anyone who did sponsor a shirt, and has contacted me will tell you, they now have it. so don't think the fiasco will happen again. because it won't. Smoking will be banned anywhere on the ground, outside, go for your life. If as I read in thread earlier we lose you as a fan, fine, find a club where you can smoke, because there won't be any. I smoke, day in day out, I don't mind going outside, fair enough really, don't really want my nephew to watch breathing it in, there will be provisions don't worry. Essay nearly over, just want to say, If any of you for any reason want to talk to me about any issue, no problems ,email me at [email protected] and yeah sarah, I remember those days at peel park. |
Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
Can I ask if the under 12 free admission can be extended to VIP visitors from other clubs who are guests of Stanley fans for the day :D
|
Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
Good question, leave that with me and i'll post back as and when I can. I believe in promoting this for the benefit of Stanley supporters. I don't see why not, but pricing isn't my part im afraid, I will take it to rob though.

Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
Any news on whether the Season Ticket holders discount will be applied for season ticket holders wishing to buy the new shirt ?

Wellcome to the board Lew, and good luck in your new position.........we may moan for England on here sometimes, but its only because we care about our local footie club............honest:D

Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
I may have made a comment or two about the commercial side of the club in the past, but I'd like to wish you all the best in your new task Lew.
As UKC has said, there are some moaners on here, but that's because they can't all be as positive as me. :) |
Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
Cheers guys, means alot really does, to be honest I was a fan anyway, check the supporters match on the official website (runcorn match) at the bottom of the page.
I posted earlier about looking at a new EPOS system I want running in the club which will enable us to produce free loyalty cards to you. With this we could then identify promotions and hopefully discounts in the store. For example, you swipe your loyalty card and it will automatically qualify you for certain discounts. Its not signed off but hopefully we can then listen to your ideas on ways forward or the best offers that you want and then pass the savings right back to you. |

Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
Nice to have you on board Lew.
All the best and look forward to years of fruitful exchanges of ideas and information on this board and through the email address you kindly provided. This is a welcome initiative. Just need a couple more central defenders and a left flanker and we'll have made a lot of progress this summer. |
Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
Yes, welcome on board, there's certainly a lot to go at.
I think this link with the club could stop a lot of misunderstandings, that mainly arise through lack of info in the first place. Best of Luck etc. :) |
Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
Welcome to the Forum Lee, can you shed any light on this matter

Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
The weekly draw... The burden of my days I'm sure. I signed up last week too so i'm now officially in the same boat,
On this one it's quite simple, someone mentioned it before in a previous thread. We do not set the prizes they are controled externally, we had the same notice as everyone else. We posted the changes on the website for as long as we had notice, with no time to mail shot all members the club ran with it. Yes the prizes should be posted properly, but it wasn't and to be fair we live and learn every day. However like I emailed one chap who emailed me to complain, I was more inclined to join up knowing theres £25,000 thousand on offer once a season rather than £10,000 twice, It has been done to instigate more people taking up the draw, which as revenue for the club is a great benefit. Because although we may win money, each and everyone draw member puts money into their club. Winner . |
Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
Welcome to the board Lew and the best of luck with your new position with Stanley.:D
I have a question for you. Last season, there was a suggestion that all Stanley's matches would be put onto DVD and by paying £250, the whole lot for the season could be bought. Individual games could also be bought for £10 each. As I live far from Accrington and can't make home matches, I wanted to be able to take advantage of the £10 per individual match offer in selected instances (especially wanted the game at Torquay to see Gary Roberts last match for Stanley, and also the home game against Walsall). When I called the club and spoke to Lee, I was told that they would go away and find out about these DVDs, and ultimately, after several calls, I discovered the scheme had been abandoned, presumably due to lack of interest. However, to the best of my knowledge and belief, nothing was ever posted onto the website about dropping the idea.:( I appreciate that there has to be a demand for this kind of thing and that without it, the costs would be prohibitive, but are there any plans to resurrect something similar ? I always think it was such a shame that there was no DVD available of Stanley's Conference winning season, the important match at Woking that clinched the title, and the celebrations and open top bus tour in Accrington (especially for those of us living far away). Such occasions don't come often and I just have to rely on my ever diminishing memory cells ! Many thanks in advance for your response.:) |
Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
Your right, there has to be a demand, I'm not sure of the numbers of subscriptions we had for this, so I can't tell you why it was dropped.
However I would seriously take on board the idea going forward, which could take the form as pay per view via the website, or even downloadable to your phone maybe or to you inbox on your pc so you could either say yep i'll have that game or this game. The discs have to be bought, worked and then either sold or distributed. It takes time effort and money if the demand is so small, Digital ages are here and now, fast and cost effective and they give you choice too. The overall issue is the TV rights, because they do control our output. However it is something we will be exploring soon. |
Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
Would I be right in thinking that we record every game anyway for both TV and Coley watching? If that is the case then it shouldn't be a problem to run a copy off as and when somebody wants a certain game. Sometimes the drive for professionalism means overlooking the basics. Having already paid £13 to watch a game live I wouldn't then want to go and pay another tenner to watch it back. I wouldn't be interested in the pretty looking box, just the disc itself and I would pay a fiver. Kept at this level there would be a demand for certain games, develop the market first then put out the pretty box sets for shade more money.

Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
I agree about DVD`s but i would prefer to watch live away games i cant get to live on the net, and also an end of season highlights DVD would be fantastic, as already mentioned we have nothing to watch of our Conference winning season, which would have been the ideal time to release such a DVD, not just for the regular fans but also all those that live overseas, and as also mentioned the games are recorded so why wasn`t it possible to produce an end of season DVD ?.

Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
The DVD issue isn't as easy as you think, or we would already be doing it.
Firstly the game is recorded, but the rights are held by both the governing body and the different media partners. Yes John coleman gets a copy, but that is contractual anyway, its an agreement so to speak, We cannot just burn and run a DVD off and sell it, Basically I wont pass off unboxed DVD's as merchandise and charge a £5 for it. The club wants to move on and look at different media avenues. Mobile technology, Internet based media, Not (and no offence) selling DVD's in a plastic wallet for a £5 a pop. I would rather pay £5 and have a live game streamed through my PC or mobile which I could hook up to to a Plasma TV in my front room, for a full season than buy a DVD. You wouldn't even need to come down and buy it, You could click your mouse and recieve it there and then. (potentially) Now surely this is the best way forward |
Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
A Plasma TV? Does Eric realise he's paying you that much? ;)

Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
if I had pre-ordered one from the club and was unable to get it until the week after then I would be cancelling the pre-order and buying one from Worldchoice instead. When the shirt is available I want it and won't wait until a shop has had its weeks worth of exclusivety.
Will the media launch be in time for fridays edition of Observer and Telegraph? drum up a bit of hype for it maybe ...... |
Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
Where on the fishy site is there a bit about pre=ordering the new shirts??? I understand the club wanted those likely to, to do a 'dummy' order to give them an indication as to the likely demand. But then again,I'm of work with pneumonia and are drugged to the eyeballs...

However, the agreement with the Football League allows for live audio coverage via the radio or the internet and for highlights to be shown by the member clubs after a specified interval between the live game and the highlights being shown. Most Football League clubs currently offer live match commentary (from £19.99 per year) and highlights (from £34.99, including live match commentaries) via their premiumtv sites. An example: Stockport County | World | Buy World | loginOrBuy Are there any plans to offer the same to Stanley fans? While I dislike the premiumtv sites, it would be very nice to be able to access live match commentaries for every away game and not have to rely on updates every 15 minutes or so on 2br or Radio Lancashire. |
Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
Ok two items, All preorders will be ready and waiting at the world choice shop, can collect anytime after 11am saturday, They are now bagged up and ready to go on launch day. No Id is required, just your name and size will do.
We are contractually obliged not to sell in the club shop for a period of time, you will understand the reasons why I'm sure. More stock will be ordered as and when we require it and will be monitored closely. I don't anticipate at this stage last years scenario. Secondly, the DVD situation I will stand by. We will look at areas to provide you with DVD's of the games, fair enough, But again only if the demand is there. if its not, then we won't. If the fans want this, then it would be backwards not to comply. So bear with me on this while we work something through. I would however, rather generate more money for the club via digital download going forward, ( which we don't intend to pass on to the supporter by the way ) sponsorship will lead to more investment into the club. This avenue is crucial, I'm sure all of us would rather sign top players, and to be fair thats the pinacle of everything we all do, from you guys buying shirts and supporting the club to myself and Rob trying our best to run a buisness and push it forward. The heritage is there, the passion from loyal supporters is definately there, we have a strong base going forward. Hopefully you will notice some changes by the start of the season and that will give you a glimpse of what we think is the best route for the club to go. But we will keep you informed. No I dont have a plasma screen, Im just a poor accy lad like everyone else. trying to earn a living.. Hope to see you all for the shirt launch on saturday. |
Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
Will the club shop be able to accept debit and credit cards on match days this season?
|
Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
Plasma screen tellies are heavy on lecky and therefore suck from an environmental point of view.
