The away kit looks a bit MK Dons!
Both strips look great though.
Thanks for the pics.

dont like the "V" Neck on the home shirt looks like it will tear fairly easily, and the away shirt looks very like and old wimbledon shirt

Will still probably buy it though

Both look good but I think I prefer the away one this season

Well that's saved me £40 this year. Crap design and looks crap quality as well.

I'm not convinced either. I prefer the red and white home shirt from last season and the away shirt is too dark for my liking. I was going to get both before I saw them but not sure if I'll get either yet. They may look better for real.

Not for me I'm afraid.

I'll stick with my 2005/6 home shirt.

Re: Official new kit pictures

I thought one with collar and one without gave for a good choice.. Collar worked for cantona :)

Jimbo T Hornblower 06-07-2007 12:57

Re: Official new kit pictures

We've had collars before as well (think it was the crown kit with the Asda sponsor) but there was no v neck on it nor had the Man U one as I recall. I used to like that collar because I could do exactly that, a 'Cantona' with it.

In my opinion its just grabbing/holding back material for opposition. The away one is better than the mix and match thing we had last season but I still dont like it. As someone else has said, perhaps they might be nicer 'in the flesh'...

Regardless of my opinion, Im sure they will sell...

Each to their own opinion. I personally like both shirts, but preference is for the away one. Yes it does have a womble look to it but hey ho, will still get both.

shakermaker 06-07-2007 13:39

Re: Official new kit pictures

I like the home shirt a lot because of the v-neck, as the only thing I didn't like about last season's home shirt was the round neck collar.
Each to their own but I think this will sell really well.

Re: Official new kit pictures

Collars always look awful unless on a nice, crisply starched and ironed shirt - not on floppy material:(

Re: Official new kit pictures

I was a bit undecided with the pictures so I nipped into Fraser WorldChoice and my opinon is I like the Home Strip more so since I have seen it in the flesh, but the away strip which has to be seen to believed it is as nice a football top as I 've seen and will definately be purchasing both. Good presentation in the Worldchoice, pleasant staff good luck for tommorrow hope the shirts fly off the shelf!!:):)

Yeah but the best thing about the MK Dons shirt was the Marshall Amplification sponsor. Unfortunately, companies around these parts don't produce anything that cool. Or do they...?

Didn't really care for them at first, but they've grown on me and I really like 'em now. That open collar looks a bit draughty for the winter months, but I suppose it'll be OK with my OSC Coley T-shirt underneath!

Yep, I'll be buying both of 'em. as always!

OK. I don’t like them. I’ve had a couple of ganders now and the away kit is growing on me, but the home shirt is a little to black in parts and the collar looks flimsy, that said I’ve not seen them in real life and regardless of my feelings I’ll will be buying both because I love the club. I would like to say well done to the club for going out and getting us a new kit. Perhaps we could run a design competition for next years.

Right who’s got one in real life? What the quality like?

The quality of the shirts looks far better when you see them than how they look on the pictures, in terms of material it is ALT DRY fabric which is a specially constructed fabric. The shirts are the same generous sizes as last seasons!! Go along tomorrow and check em out!!:):)

Not with Knobs that go to 11 anyway.

I like the V neck with collar but not sure why its got black bits.
Red and White day and Night I thought.
Probably more practical for a soap dodger like me.
Also not sure why the Black one has Yellow bits.
I won`t be buying either cos I`m a miserable old skinflint who thinks they should cost a fiver. In fact everything in the world, Cars, Houses, Yachts, Primadonnaship strikers, season tickets, Roofs, and :banslide:should cost a Fiver.

(That`s just bankrupt Cmon)

The away one is navy blue same colour as the Nike one from a few years ago the yellow on it is very stand outish which I think is good, also the irritating labels from the back of the neck has gone and wash instructions etc. are printed instead.:):)

Now got the home strip, and I can confirm they definitely look better in the flesh so to speak. Rommy in shop signing shirts new and old this morning. Both shirts look good and the home strip is comfy as well. Will defo be buying the away shirt for the missus prior to season start. (She also wants the new Wigan Athletic home shirt as well - this is goin' to be expensive). Collar is the 'Cantona' type on the home shirt. The black (on red) looks more overpowering on the photo, but actually is not so on the real mccoy. Definitely an improvement on last season's dare I say.

Sorry I don’t like the home kit and I got the impression that others felt the same, one very nice gentleman took himself off to Ossy mills to get last season’s shirt again.

I was impressed with the Away Shirt and after taking the time to have a coffee I went back and bought it. Bloody lovely on, comfy and it fits well. I don’t look a “T” in it like I did with lasts years’ home shirt, so I will be wearing it. :) I was also impressed with the very attractive away shirt wearing lady who served me who did the shirt a world of good. Thank You. :)

For me personally it has to be the away shirt as it appeals more than the home one and does look better. At the end of the day it dosnt matter which we wear providing we do wear one.

I don't like the home shirt, but I'll still have to buy it. The away shirt will look great with jeans, so should be a good casual shirt.

Well the general opinion seems to go with the away shirt which is a shame because it looks like a lot of colour will be missing from the Clayton End this season, more flags needed to compensate please Jase.

Out of interest who decides on the design, surely there has got to be some involvement from the club, it's a pity there is no involvement on the design from the fans.

Yea, someone suggested a design competition for next years shirt and I would have to agree that would be a good idea...

Re: Official new kit pictures

It's not that I dislike either of the shirts particularly, although I will confess to being really dissappointed when I first saw them last week and I will admit they're both growing on me now!!

For me the club has missed out on 2 things with these, one is the chance for the fans to choose their own kit as a couple of other clubs have been giving their fans the chance to. Iswich gave their fans three options and asked them to choose either by text or e-mail. I don't see the club only being given the choice of 1 design/colourway to choose from, surely they have some say in it, and could have opened that say up to the fans. Maybe next year!!!

But the second thing for me is slightly more important. I don't think people would disagree with me saying that last seasons kits were the nicest we've had for a while, but for some reason the team repeatedly looked shabby at away games, when forced to wear the red home shirt, blue away shorts and red home socks, coz the other team clashed with our white shorts. Personally I think (and it is only my opinion) that if we have messed with the colour of the shirt this season (red and black as opposed to red and white) why keep the source of last years kit troubles, the white shorts!!! Why not either change them to black as well, or leave the shirt red and white and have black or red shorts instead? All of these combinations have been used in the past so why not make it make more sense.

Just an observation!!!

And a good observation Sparky. I made the same point to the girl in the shop on Saturday. She mentioned the socks for the away kit which give me a sickening shudder, imagine, the home shirt coupled with the away shorts and socks or god forbid the reverse.

Like the new button graphic thing BTW. Theres a few sayings but the one I like gets me in too much bother.. got ripped to shreds when I used it on confguide a few yrs ago..

Re: Official new kit pictures

Idea of getting to pick a specific design is not a bad idea a least then the supporters feel they are having an input and from the clubs point of view they get to gauge supporters opinions. Would also be nice to come up with something celebratory to perhaps mark the forty years since the reformation of the mighty Stanley.:):)

Re: Official new kit pictures

Well, now its calmed down slightly it's good to see and read the reaction of all of you. To be fair I'm delighted with people's opinions of the kit, the supporters who I spoke to on Friday and Saturday, liked it especially the away kit.

So a big thank you to all those supporters who made the trip to help raise money for the club and continue to do so season after season. Its sometimes easy to forget that we have no Roman Abramovic and so merchandise is the life blood of the club. Again cheers to all those who have or will come and pick up a shirt, Every penny counts.
