Graham Branch signs

See official site. More good news in my opinion.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's he like?

Re: Graham Branch signs

it should be a good signing yeah. only problem i see is that we've signed quite a few players in their 30's who we're told still have got what it takes and they simply dont. hope this isnt the case with branch.

He's a good experienced player glad he signed :D

Re: Graham Branch signs

My brother-in-law was very involved in Branch's testimonial activities towards the end of last season; organised the golf day, etc. He seemed to rate Branch highly, as do most Burnley fans I know.

His signing has hardly been a well kept secret has it?

Very very good news. Good signing, well done Coley!

Re: Graham Branch signs

Great signing, he was a frim fan's favourite at the Turf and had his ups and downs there but always seemed to come through them. Great player and scored a few important goals as well. 'Graham de Branchio, Graham de Branchio,' I'm sure LancsDave will agree!!

Re: Graham Branch signs

Yeah, I'd like to hear Dave's opinion, too. What's his style of play?...his strong points?..his weaknesses? Come on, Dave, let's be hearing from you! :)

Perhaps it's the beginnings of another "I'm leaving.... again and again and again....." thread ;) :D

Great signing! Can play anywhere according to my Burnley supporting mate at work. Not the quickest of players, though!

JEFF 10-07-2007 10:26

Re: Graham Branch signs

Personally I would rather us sign an experienced centre half. Maybe that is to come. We had the worst defence in the league last season but we don't seem to have strengthened it, possibly weakened it with Antwi and Welchy leaving.

KIPAX 10-07-2007 10:30

Re: Graham Branch signs

I would say my only dissapointment in the close season is not getting Antwi back.. But I don't think the club could have got him under any deal and I don't think it's there fault.. he had a seson with us. now a season at a higher club and maybe a season after that even higher.. he is destined for the top.

Is Roberts not an experienced centre-half?

Do you call a 24 year old who has only played seven football league games (the last on in February 2006) an experienced centre half ? I don't.
My point is that we have lost two centre halves and a full back, we have replaced one centre half only. Last season we had the worst defencive record in the league, surely we should be concentrating on bolstering the defence, but time will tell, I hope Coley has an ace up his sleeve.

From what I've been told he is quite quick for a big fella.....I remember a couple of years ago when he played for Burnley Res at the FES and scored an absolute belter! Hope for more of those this season. IMO very good signing, experienced, can play in every position, big and strong and knows where the goal is.

I'd say we need 3 more signings, an experienced centre half....(John Mcgreal??) he's available after his release from Burnley, a winger and another striker?

I agree we need at least one more centre half - just thought you had forgotten about Roberts!

You wouldn't have said Antwi was an experienced centre half, either, but we all know how good he was. Has Coley unearthed another gem? I wouldn't bet against it!:)

Re: Graham Branch signs

Could turn out to be yet another astute signing by Coley. With the exception of a certain Mr Grant all the other vastly experienced players Coley has brought in have performed admirably. Onwards and upwards ! :)

Wouldn't go that far, we did sign Gordon Armstrong you know :o

However signing Branch seems like good sense, we needed a left footed player & Branch can fill in many positions. Well done Coley.

Re: Graham Branch signs

A Good signing, will fill a variety of roles but is probably best suited to left wing, always gives 100% through the up's and downs a very good aquasition!!

Don't know much about Branch, but it all became clear on Wikipedia, born Feb 12th, 1972 in.............Liverpool.

Didn't see that one coming. :)

I walked out of the bar after about 30 minutes and the first thing I saw was Branchmisplace a 30 yard pass down the wing by putting it over the stand! after muttering to myself summat about 'bloody Burnley players" he went on to have a good game (from what I saw)

He's the worst player to wear a Stanley shirt in my time, like you, Wynonie I knew little of him before this season. My heart sank when he was announced as playing tonight, the piece from the Stockport website is more than fair.

Sorry to embarass some of you by unearthing this thread.

Oggy, I saw him tonight and I have a very good idea now of exactly what he's like...which is one of the reasons why I'm sitting here drinking a large glass of Johnnie Walker Red Label and trying to calm down!

I've got to agree with Oggy - the worst ever! After Branch's shambolic performance last night, one could almost say "Bring back Rogers!!!!!"

Thanks, I've not used it lightly, he's just not interested at all.

Sadly, the days are gone when Eric could just pay him off in the car park, or have they? ;)
