so who will be in the crown? OSC surely to support the cause... is it oaklea for a quicky then crown? who else in crown pre match?

maccawozzagod 11-07-2007 16:41

Re: Saturday scooping

maybe Crown maybe not - I'm not gonna advise or cajole other people into drinking anywhere inparticular but - I have been informed that Mr Whalley will not allow us to sell in the Crown, therefore OSC will be selling memberships and whatever else from alternate venues.

I'm certainly not abandoning the Crown as I have still been drinking in there during the week but matchday before the game I will have to be somewhere else

I think Macca means he cannot sell memberships for OSC or any of the OSC merchandise, which is a pity really, because most of it does not clash with anything that the club sell from their shop(s). Otherwise, I can't wait now for Saturday, should be a good game with a decent crowd. Time to see who the stars are going to be next season and how the triallists are doing. You never know Kiwi, it maybe on Radio Lancs!

Re: Saturday scooping

It was a little bit 'retorical' OUTBACK; it seems strange that Macca can't tout for membership there when its ultimately going back to the club anyway,,,:(

Just a quick reminded Rob.

You are still welcome to sell your OSC membership / merchandise from the Oaklea Tavern.

We are looking forward to meeting the guys traveling down from north of the border.

Of coarse. 15% discount on all drinks (except summer promotions). 12pm - 7pm.

Don't forget your membership card or OSC badge.

Dont understand some people who complain that the Crown opening to away fans and but the same people were saying what a good idea it is for Stanley to have the Crown but then they plan to go elsewhere on matchdays, bit hypocritical!

Anyway, For those of you at a loose end tonight, why not come into the Crown for a drink on the way to the Stanley Sports Bar to watch Victor Michaels, top night guaranteed! :)

Re: Saturday scooping

i don't think it makes any difference where so and so drink. Most people will have a couple in each anyway just like they always did. The Crown will still be busy, the Oaklea will still be busy. If anything both places will be busier as we have essentially lost one venue from last season.

Various from the OSC will be in the Oaklea before the game due to the selling of stuff point. And most will probably be in the Crown after the Crown whereas last season they probably wouldn't.

No your not, its costs £3 more to join via the website, according to the website. Pay macca your fiver and save the 3 quid for drinks lol

always pay the cash - always was and always will be cheaper than the national rate. I'll be in the Oaklea at 1pm with as many badges as I can carry. Unfortunately the cards are still not with us so its gonna cost us postage or petrol. Again.

they're coming from Nottingham, the postage or petrol was for delivering the cards after I get them :p. Will hopefully see them by the end of next week.

Re: Saturday scooping

But the Official Supporters Club? Shouldn't they be drinking in The Crown supporting the club? Where were members of the supporters club on opening day? where have they been during the week? Weekends? Hardly any have been in, but go to other pubs like the Oaklea etc. instead of putting money behind the bar for the club, it does matter where people meet/drink because the more money spent behind the bar at the Crown then ultimtately the more money goes to the club.

Sorry it might just be me that's thinking this......

one of the biggest parts of our job is to sell stuff and make money. We have been told we can't sell in the crown. big clue earlier in the thread

Where were members of the supporters club on opening day?
it wasn't advertised early enough for many people but I personally had been very busy with the Carnival etc that the club did not represent themselves at

where have they been during the week? Weekends? Hardly any have been in, but go to other pubs like the Oaklea etc.

theres a handful and we drink in both and I personally had about thirty extra pints last week that I wouldn't normally have. In the Crown.

Sorry it might just be me that's thinking this......

I know, I've obviously seen you there macca but it wasn't a direct reference to you yourself. There's not just you in the supporters club is there? Nothing against you or anyhting you lot do but meeting in the Oaklea as the official stanley supporters club, when Stanley's pub is a stone's throw away is just a bit contradicitive....

I was there on the open day and have been in the crown more than before in fact probably had only been in a couple of times before it was taken over!!

Re: Saturday scooping

but as I have stated about 6 times we are not allowed to sell anything in there!!!!!!!!!

ffs

if we can't sell anyhting on matchdays then we may as well fold. And if we fold we won't be the OSC and can then drink anywhere!

it aint rocket science.

to sell anything be it memberships, merchandise, event tickets or whatever we have to go elsewhere. CAn't go in the clubhouse, cant go in the Crown, so going to the Oaklea. I aint standing on the car park every bloody week with people passing pints over the wall from the Crown.

And no its not just me in the OSC and so its not just me selling stuff

Bagpuss 14-07-2007 11:48

Re: Saturday scooping

I'm with Macca on this until Eric allows it to be a true Stanley pub and that includes allowing the OSC to operate from there I will be having a couple in the Oakleigh then try one in the Crown unless as I suspect in will be full of away fans.

melonhigh 14-07-2007 13:47

Re: Saturday scooping

Personally I don't care who's drinking in the Crown as long as it is full and the club is making money out of it. Of course it would make for good relationships between club and fans if the OSC was allowed to operate from there but as we have seen in the past Accrington Stanley FC don't always seem to be in touch with their regular supporters. Rob and friends have put in a lot of work for the OSC and they are entitled to operate from (and drink wherever) they like

I think the Club deserve a rocket up their collective butt for not letting the OSC sell stuff in the Crown; it's a ridiculous state of affairs, and I thought Eric was a fairly astute businessman !

The pub is leased and most pub leases restrict commercial activities on the Premises to those of a normal licensed public house.

Failure to comply with a lease can result amongst other things in the property being taken back by the Landlord.

Good post this...

The OSC is only trying to help the club go forward, they are selling bits and pieces not gold bullion and drugs, the club needs to move fast to put this to bed.

For once lets all pull in the same direction, let the OSC sell their Merch etc...

No you're quite right.

The landlords, Punch Taverns, don't call them "leases" they call them Retailers' Agreements.
