Couldn't get there today. Believe it finished 1-1. Who scored? Who played? What was the attendance?

Walker (loanee) scored for Stanley and Blake with a deflection for Burnley near the end. Crowd was comfortably over 3000.

Re: v. Burnley

Very encouraging performance from Stanley. I especially liked Miles, who with penetrative dribbling skills gets into dangerous positions and Roberts looks a good combative big 'un. Kenny Arthur looked very solid and had no chance with their late deflected goal. Maybe we have a good "spine" down the middle at last with Mullin surely leading the line when it counts, with McGivern or Dsane playing off him. Carden looks a good midfield general and certainly puts himself about, so with Jay Harris and Proccy in the squad all looks fine in the battling department. Was it Grant on the left wing in the second half? He looked very lively and should come on in leaps and bounds as he gets a bit more muscle on him. One happy bunny here.:D

Tom Rutter was playing upfont in the second half i think

It was a young lad on the left wing, so it could have been Grant. I'd forgotten about him.

Re: v. Burnley

Stupid burnley, scabby goal like always near to the end. I couldnt even hear the so called "loud burnley fans" , stanley out sung them! The only time they sung is when they scored and where shouting for the winner. Its was a little friendly and where moaning non stop even out side the ground i heard burnley fans moaning. However was good attendance and stanley played great, like redraine said miles stood out for me with the darting runs he made. :)

I dont have a clue shaker, couldnt see that far if it was an incident in first half , i did see a defender on the floor though and so i shouted OFF OFF Lol ;)

Re: v. Burnley

The Burnley fans completely surrounding me in the Clayton end were claiming not to have a strong squad out. I didn't realize Blake and Akenbye were reserves! Accy played well and it was a pleasent afternoon even including the part where my ten year old girl started gobbing off about how much I hate Burnley! :)

Shame that young lad only hit the crossbar once at half time.
That's how you do it Macca!!!

Yes they realised that they was going to loose a little friendly so they chucked them all on. :) Same old burnley. And what a scabby goal!

Anyone else see those 5 or so Burnley fans vault the gate, the one near the Crown steps, Stewards looked stunned and could do nothing, couldn't help having a chuckle.

Re: v. Burnley

Enjoyed today's game, our lads played really well and - dare I say it - our defence looked pretty solid in both halves, but for a scabby deflected goal we'd have taken the honours. Unfortunately, the behaviour of a few Burnley 'fans' in the Crown afterwards soured the day a little, not nice to feel uncomfortable in what is supposed to be our clubhouse.

Re: v. Burnley

The incident with Akinbiyi and Phil Edwards was a bit of play acting on Phil's part and a rather heavy deliberate shove in the back by the Burnley player. Should have got at least a yellow, but just a stiff talking too by the ref. Even the Burnley fans said he was stupid to do that. Phill did go over the top holding his face as if he had been pole-axed.

Well impressed today!! I think any neutral watching would have been hard pushed to recognise who were the championship side. I think as some of the previous post's on this thread have already mentioned that the spine of the team is looking pretty solid impressed with the no.18 up front & no.21 if there not signed up get em signed up! Kenny Arthur looked solid and as Macca has said Cav was solid, I think even without Mullin we had a different dimension going out wide coming back in excellent I know it's only pre-season but I think we have every reason to be optimistic for the forthcoming season!:):)

Do we have any idea who this "Victor" is?

I did a google and apart from a top flight Nigerian striker and a veteran South American player failed to come up with anything.

May be short of being fully match fit but seems useful.

Without the Liverpool comment I wasn't impressed by him. I thought his ball control and awareness was poor and when in a good postion he failed to find the net with poor shooting.

SamF 14-07-2007 22:18

Re: v. Burnley

The two striker in the second half seemed scared to shoot, not a fan, who was that 18 ? I'm hoping not D'Sane, short, slow, not good on the ball. He MUST have a good shot to be a proffesional footballer but he just dawdled !

Apart from that excellent perfomance from Stanley, MOTM defo Cav.

Nope, Rutter was playing down the middle and didn't impress me one bit. Dsane made some good runs that weren't picked up by his mates but did force his way through once and brought a good save from Jensen at the near post. Just looked a bit unfit yet IMO. Browny did well and seemed a lot more forceful than he usually was last season. I think we have lots of options now all over the pitch, except defence? We nearly started with the worst defence in Div2 again!

From what I recall of yesterdays tannoy anouncements, He wasnt told the names of the trialists and had to anounce them as "A.Trialist"!! Therefore I can only summise that the powers that be (Coley,Whalley etc) didnt want them named.

For some reason, the management are very cagey about the players who are there on trial. It could be a safety tactic to avoid other clubs coming in for our trialists, but I wouldn't know.

It's nothing to do with the tannoy man.

I guessed that but I'm talking about the new players we signed, did D'sane play etc?
He was told the starting line up and I had no problem when he anounced "a trialist" but someone from the club should have given him some info when subs where made, not knocking him as I think he's getting better.:)

Maybe, but I happen to know the Wycombe Wanderers management team was watching yesterday. Don't actually know if he would have got any feelers for the first game because we played two different teams and held a championship club for virtually all of 90 minutes.
