Evil signed before the game at Prescot and played the second half. Stanley won 3-1 a penalty from Roscoe then McGivern missed a penalty, Prescot equalised, a Boco header made it 2-1 then another penalty scored by Miles made it 3-1. Evil came on for the second half up front with Mully and played OK. Time will tell.

He didn't look 2 stones overweight like some people have said. He looked pretty mean (as always), but still looking as though he needed a proper pre-season to get him fully match fit.

More good news,think we've got plenty of options up front now!! Just need a couple of defenders now to bolster that department and I reckon we've got the making of a reasonable side that could challenge this season.I certainly don't think we'll struggle as many of the so called "experts" are predicting ! :):):)

Totally agree. I think we've got the makings of a very good team, but we still need a couple of decent defenders, one of which needs to be an experienced league player.

I'm surprised but very very happy that Evil has signed. How long for? What position will he play? Is he still "up for it". He has great potential and he worries defenders ( sometimes on his own side!!) but all in all a great asset to the team. All the best Lee, hope it works out for you and us.

What about the other strikes though , do you not think weve got too many , i know people say you cant have too many strikers but i think coley will deff play mullin so theres one space left for evil , brown , Mcgiven, miles , roscoe, and also boco can play up front , where do these fit into this?

Jimmy Bell's nephew if I recall, The last time I heard of him he was playing for Burscough against us in the Lancashire Junior Cup, where co-incidentally Jimmy also came on. :)

Be assured Miles will be one of the first names on every team sheet and will play on the right flank which he did to such telling effect for Macc in our last home game of 06/07. He is an excellent player.

Though the thought of a defence without Godwin scares me,the knowledge that in Kenny Arthur we have a very experienced custodian whose battle hardness should be worth an extra defender when compared to the less experienced stoppers we had last season.

Miles will play right side of midfield in the space left by Todd. Boco could play in midfield, although with Carden, Proctor, Harris, etc, we do have some depth in there.

Brown, I think, is on the bench again. I just can't see a spot for him, unless he plays left side of midfield?

Couple more decent defenders (minimum one central) and I would be starting to think at least the play offs were well attainable.

But the only problem with that central midfield TM is there's no one attacking, Boco in midfield would provide that attacking link in the centre of midfield and it'd have to be one from the three defensice midfield players.

Think we'll see David Brown come on from the bench again this season, very impressed every time I see him in central midfield, but he's the best finisher in our team so coming on upfront....I'm happy.

Very happy with Evil when I found out yesterday I couldn't believe it! Brilliant news, we are building a very good squad but I agree with bringing in defensive experience, but we've got to remember Godwin wasn't 'experienced' just brilliant! So if Coley can have a look around for another loan signing then well....we'll see :)

All the news with the roof, the new kit and the squad......very happy chappy! :) Not long now.......

Evil is a good centre half but its a no go, he's come as a striker and will definately play there.

Funniest memory of Evil was me and Fearon playing upfront for the Ultras vs Stanley a few years back, Evil played centre half, he said to us both "win a header against me and Ill give you £100".......well.......... we tried!

I was, and still am, not convinced about this news.

Whilst there is no doubt whatsoever about Evil's footballing ability (when at full fitness) I am concerned about His attitude, be honest who else can remember Him refusing to pass to other team members at crucial moments when He was last here? Also His arrogance stood out like a sore thumb.

If He has sorted out His head etc then maybe, just maybe it will be a good signing, however for me the jury is still well and truly out.

Wrexham fan here..... Just thought i'd give my opinion of evil and fill you in on what happened at Wrexham..

There is no question that Lee has more than enough ability to be a quality League 2 striker. Unfortunately its his attitude which has let him down while he was at Wrexham.
Before the Wrexham squad left for their summer break Carey gave strict instructions to the squad to look after themselves, not gain any weight and to report back for pre season trainng in good shape.

When Evil arrived back at training he'd put on a stone in weight, was completely out of shape and then got injured in training on the first day back which ruled him out of the liverpool friendly.

This was the final straw after Carey and previously Denis Smith had told him to get himself in shape many times. He'd been given plenty of chances at Wrexham to get fit and show us what he can do. He never did.

Too many times he'd be out on the ale after a game and wearing boots that are a size too small never helped him much:confused:

Towards the end of last season when we really really needed him to put in performances for us he failed to deliver. Even in the pre match warm up he never looked interested.

If he's ever going to perform at this level he's going to need a drastic change of attitude.

I too was worried at first but i thought about it and if he did lose the attitude and the arrogance he just wouldn't be the same player, it's his attitude and arrogance that scares defenders. Welcome back Lee

The jury's still out on this for me as well, has no-one thought that there must be good reason why Wrexham bought him out of his contract? Although I'm willing to be proved wrong, and I hope I am for the team's sake, I have a lot of reservations about McEvilly coming back, not least his fitness and his 'glass foot'. Let's not kill the fatted calf & roll out the red carpet just yet - if he proves himself, fine - if not I hope he's only on a pay as you play contract. The announcement of the fishy site doesn't say on what terms we've signed him.

It's the same story all over the place on Lee. But the fact that Coley wanted him back speaks volumes for me, Coley knows what he's getting, and has more chance of getting the best out of Lee than anyone.

Obviously there's a bit of work to do, mainly by Lee, but from Stanley's point of view it's not as though we're pinning all our hopes on him, we've got a fair strike force already.

As a sometimes mardy scouser myself, I'm hoping for the best, defenders hate playing against Evil. Certainly won't be dull. ;)

McEvilly started really well at Rochdale before fading into unfit obscurity and being loaned out to non-league Stanley.

Eventually non league Stanley saw the best out of McEvilly who subsequently moved to higher league Wrexham at the beginnning of the season which saw Stanley move out of non-league.

After an initial good period which saw him become a fans favourite for the same sort of reasons he was here (bullying and battering defenders) he got injured and then injured again and injured again. Somewhere in the middle of that he had earned himself a move to higher league (and favourites for the title at the beginning of the season) Bradford which fell through due to injury.

An unfit Evil came back and despite the cat calls of the crowd and despite the excess weight carried still scored the goals that effectively saved Wrexham from non-league obscurity.


The guy has bags of talent fit or unfit, it can be argued that we have seen the best of him over the last five years or so. If Evil gets bombed out again due to fitness or attitude he will struggle to find anybody willing to chance on him at this level of play or pay.

Its up to Lee now whether he wants to carry on being a nearly man, getting a game and a goal here and there and still visiting Burger King, or whether he wants to be the man who scored 25 goals in one season in the Conference and earned himself a move up the leagues. Fit and healthy Lee will play more than he sits out and will score 20 goals next year. Unfit he will score 5 or 6 and be playing for Droylsden at best by the next transfer window.

Lee, please prove the doubters wrong and fire us to the play-offs. And score a hat-trick at Wrexham - they are expecting it!

Think you've all got very valid points, and Macca's post was spot on, but everybody recognises that the guy has talent. I remember at Oldham he had their defence running scared, and set up Craney for a goal, he does pass sometimes. :)

He's 2 years older, let's hope he's a bit wiser. Thought Lutel was a much improved player once he realised it was a team game, and he didn't twig till late in his career. Lee is still only 25, fingers crossed. :evil:

Only playing a friendly today and the big mouth nearly gets sent off, saved only by being subsituted. Nothing has changed has it, Stanley does not need McEvilly but McEvilly needs Stanley, go now before it's a league match in which you see the red card and let us down again.

Wasn't at the game,so can't comment about his behaviour (Although I've read the reports).All I'll say is that if Coley can get the BEST out of Lee,then it's a good bit of business.:)

And whilst not wishing to knock what Andy Mangan gave to the Reds(how many times did Mangan get sent off,costing us games/putting us on the back foot??),I wonder what the general consensus is;

For me, it'd be Evil every day of the week, but I'm not completely sure about him being here due to the fitness side of things. Mangan never looked good enough for league football. At least we can be assured Evil can finish & won't get knocked off the ball every time he gets it.

McEvilly was the worst player today in a team that played poorly. Yet he still got 90 minutes. Mullin ran his heart out, won headers, won (and conceded) free-kicks all to no avail. But at least he tried.

We've never been told the reason why Evil left Wrexham by mutual consent to come to a club who pay crap wages. But the evidence of his total lack of fitness and committment and his generally petulant attitude following last week's debacle against Darlo suggest Wrexham were just happy to be well rid of a liability, and probably more than happy he was going to fellow relegation candidates whom he would be likely to undermine and take down instead of them.

For God's sake Coley, swallow your pride and get rid. He's Crap!
