Sunday Times gets it wrong
Did anyone notice the misleading result in the "Sport" section of Sunday's paper? It said that Stanley lost 7 - 1 to Leek Town. CLANG!! There was no suggestion that this was the youth team's match.

Re: Sunday Times gets it wrong
neither was there any suggestion on the Fishy site prior to the game!
hopefully it will lull a few into a false sense of security |
Re: Sunday Times gets it wrong
The 7-1 score was broadcast all over the place - Ceefax, Sky, etc
People on ConfGuide were laughing about it. That's what happens when all the fixtures are jumble up together. |
Re: Sunday Times gets it wrong
It was also on Sky Sports news+ BBC teletext

Re: Sunday Times gets it wrong
Yes I got really annoyed about this, as already said above, the Leek match result was plastered all over the place with no mention of it being the Youth team and worse still no mention of the 1st team winning at prescott!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Sunday Times gets it wrong
As Macca has said, lull the opposition into a false sense of security. Hell we drew against Burnley 2nd friendly of the season, they then went on to tank Wrekam 5-2 at their gaffe. So what if it was plastered all over the news, Sky etc. We all know the truth. We went to Prescot, we saw and we conquered.

Re: Sunday Times gets it wrong

Re: Sunday Times gets it wrong
I've had a bit of stick about that fact too !! I've stressed to those concerned (i.e. the mickey takers) that it wasn't the first team but the young lads / youth team. Makes you wonder where the people in the know (ceefax etc) get their gen from!! Mind you, if it only helps to confuse and amuse the uneducated (i.e. nameless & faceless prats who write for The Yorkshire Evening Post) then I'm not going to lose any sleep over the matter ! Onwards and Upwards !! :):):)
