We've just lost 3-0 in our second league match of the season to a distinctly ordinary looking side and you're worried about the MUSIC they're playing????...

Were you the guy with your own, AND your mate's hands, over your ears? :)

Get the feeling the football interferes with the Ricky Kirby show. Bang, straight back in at the final whistle, very slick.

Maybe it's a marketing strategy for Accy Stanley ear muffs. :rolleyz8:

Well, I must admit the record was garbage. Maybe I'll ask "Mid-Atlantic Accent Man" to play a Wynonie Harris tune next time...see what Dav007 makes of that.

Got to agree with Oggy when he says, "Get the feeling the football interferes with the Ricky Kirby show".

The whole tannoy thing has become a major issue for me, as it's stopped me from enjoying the matchday experience. I used to enjoy having a chat to people and exchanging views, before, during and after the game. The Ricky Kirby show has virtually stopped that, as it's so loud now that you can't hear the person next to you. And he never, ever stops. He is either playing crap music very loud, or his odious voice can be heard, very loud.
As soon as the referee blows for half or full time, he starts it off again and continues right up until the referee blows for the next period of play. There isn't even a second or two of quiet. It's all about him and that bloody tannoy.

I wish the club would tell him to turn it down so people can do what they've been doing for decades.... talking to each other.

Re: sorry to go on about the music

The 'music' was intrusive to say the least. Did the ref wait for it to end before starting the second half and then decide to blow the whistle despite the noise? And the blasting from the speakers at the end drowned any applause there may have been for the team.

If we're not careful we'll have what happened at Gigg Lane last season with recorded cheering drowning out the fans when the home team scored and completely destroying the atmosphere.

Stanley is losing one of it's "charms" in following other grounds' lead in blasting its customers with largely unwanted, and irrelevant noise; deck and mouth disease.

This particular DJ seems to have no feel for "real" football.

It's about the fans being allowed to build their own atmosphere, being able to banter amongst themselves, talk to each other without shouting. It's the football that's important, and discussing the football.

We're in Lancashire, and one of the best bits at that. Let's have an announcer that reflects that, and makes Stanley stand out from the crowd, and let's the crowd set the atmosphere.

Add anything ? Dire and completely unnecessary. Especially drowning out applause for the teams coming back for the second half.
