Tannoy, your view.

Everyone seems to have their own ideas of what should happen regarding pre-match and half time entertainment, should we be allowed to make our own atmosphere as in years gone by, please post your views.

Re: Tannoy, your view.

The thing that annoys me is, Ricky Kirby, Music and announcements are fine, just not so loud.
Constant chattering, getting stuff wrong (information and facts), holding up play, holding up the minutes silence, is just irritating. constantly telling the Ultra's to make some noise (as if the need telling), "forgetting" to switch off the Mic. Making sure he is being filmed for the crossbar challenge;). He is just an Amateur.

Perhaps, we get our original tannoy man back, and just have Ricky Kirby for the crossbar challenge.

By the way the guy's in his forties, why is he called Ricky at that age.

Re: Tannoy, your view.

This season the tannoy is certainly a lot louder then before, which is better in my opinion for announcing substitutes, goalscorers etc during the game but the music is miles too loud.

K.S.H 19-08-2007 11:23

Re: Tannoy, your view.

Well I can't complain cause its not as loud for me.
I used to stand right underneath a tannoy - guaranteed same place everyweek, no-one would take it :D :D
Now they have put the roof on (well half of it) they moved the tannoy down and forward a bit, its now in front of me slightly, so not as bad on the eardrums :D

Funny, in my head, he's a Dick. ;)

Ricky Kirby is utter Sh*te, tannoy man was great.......get him re-instated immediately!!!

Tin Monkey 19-08-2007 14:11

Re: Tannoy, your view.

Just turn him down, so he provides background music, then turn him slightly louder for announcements, teams, etc. I don't pay my money to see/hear him. He should be a minor part of the day, not the main attraction.

Tin Monkey 19-08-2007 19:15

Re: Tannoy, your view.

To be honest, while 2BR are sponsoring the tannoy, etc, we're stuck with Dicky Kirby. If it isn't reduced in volume, I'm taking my wire cutters. ;)

Bagpuss 19-08-2007 19:20

Re: Tannoy, your view.

Loweiy you voted "other" what's your idea?

shakermaker 19-08-2007 22:16

Re: Tannoy, your view.

Ricky Kirby isn't too bad apart from the mid-atlantic Tony Blackburn-esque radio slur & his absolutely awful choice in pre-match music - why all the bloody reggae?!
It's painful!

Ber999T 20-08-2007 03:14

Re: Tannoy, your view.

Agree with volume DOWN was in 1st aid post and couldn't hear what patient was saying which if important medical information!!!!! we need to be able to hear whats being said.

Sorry 2BR but please get him to turn it down a bit for safetys sake if not eardrums!!!

Thought the reggae was great. "The Liquidator" - Harry J. All Stars played on Saturday - top tune! Just as long as he doesn't play Oasis or any of those bloody indie bands...but that's the whole point, isn't it? We all have different musical tastes, so better to play no music at all (apart from occasional blasts of Cart On). :)

That's the thing, why not stick to the classic football tunes that the majority, if not everyone on the ground will appreciate? ie Ring of Fire, Impossible Dream, Cart On etc.
Reggae grates on me no end!

The Liquidator is a classic football tune - heard it played at loads of grounds over the years...or maybe I'm showing my age!!

Dunno what tune you're on about Wynonie, it might have played after I shoved the cotton wool in my ears :D

No come lets not bring anything else into this, the tune and there is a tune does go round and round and I found myself wishing there would be some vocals to end the monotony.:(

I’ve gone for other because I don’t really take any notice unless the Burnley blokes on then I just shut down.

I think we should give that Loweiy bloke off the radio a go. He’d be good at it.

Monotonous to you, a cracking good tune to others. Can you not imagine everyone clapping along with the handclapping sections with the sound reverberating off the Clayton End roof?

Obviously not, but that's the whole point I was making. I like it, you don't. I'm sure there are tunes that mid-Atlantic accent man plays which you like, but I can't stick...that stupid Into The Valley thing he spins sometimes, for instance.

...which is why I think it's best to have no music at all!

Oggy 21-08-2007 17:21

Re: Tannoy, your view.

Really think the volume is a nonsense, however, that's more to do with the club than Dick Kirby.

Whatever we have should be ignorable, £13 to be aurally assaulted is just not on. Talking with other people is a big part of the match.

If you're a "singer", you don't want to be in competition with a PA system, it could be even louder with the roof on!

Really think Stanley could be different and fan friendly, Stockport last year was diabolic and we're heading there, why? :(

I'll be having a word when I pick my season ticket up, anyone else? ;)

Best thing about today was the mike went missing so we didn't get the half time version of The Ricky Kirby Show, to be honest I think he's been on the forum as he was not as in your face today and we kicked the second half off without waiting for the music to stop.

Agreed, a much improved performance from Mr Kirby.
Although he may be sulking at us, he didn't bother coming on for the crossbar challenge.

There we have it Tannoy man wins the vote but not the majority therefore it's Ricky Kirby but if you're reading this Ricky keep it like yesterday with the volume down and not too much in peoples faces and the jobs still yours.

Re: Tannoy, your view.

does anybody remember the japanese programme Endurance? the one with the contestants who had to endure extreme pain and physical abuse just to win some crap prize. well anyway stood in the clayton end yesterday listening to DICK Kirby made me feel just like one of those daft contestants!!! how much longer do we have to put up with this, after half time the ref even has to wait for him to finish his aural assault before blowing the whistle to resume play!Crap jokes, crap musical interlude, crap clothes.......and the crossbar challenge........just throw a ball into different parts of the crowd every week if my number came up in the programme i certainly would`nt be making myself known to a steward. anyway rant over and full marks to the class lass who had a go yesterday.

Tin Monkey 09-09-2007 11:36

I noticed he'd turned it up again yesterday.

Yet again there was not a second of dead time yesterday. Just a constant barrage of *****.

Not often I quote the full post but spot on.

It would be so funny if the Clayton end just kept the ball..... please.
Don't even try to catch it.

Of course if you can hit the bar 2 out of 3 times, don't let me stop you.;)
