Cheeky gits

Wouldn't ordinarily post on a football ball thread, but did anyone hear the comment on the Jeremy Vine show at lunch (not Jeremy .. think he is on holiday). Discussion on Northern Rock. Comment was that they have as much chance of going bankcrupt as Accrington Stanley winning the FA cup !!

"Slim" was the comment "Slim" was the echo.. come on lads .. that has gotta' be a challenge... :rolleyes:

Oh heck, I'd better get me money out of Northern Rock pretty damn quick then:p.
Seriously though - Stanley fans are used to such jibes - any publicity is good publicity and all that :D

One thing's for sure...we do not have to go cap in hand to anyone else to bail us out, because we are financially sound!

You think so? To me it just reconfirms, yet again, our status as a joke club.

Personally, I'm sick of it.

I'm guessing it was actually Martin Lewis the money bloke who said it as it's on his website ;

Northern Rock Crisis: What you need to do now...

See yer point Tin Monkey .. like comedian's jokes often use Accrington in their punch lines .. gotta' raise the profile somehow.

in respects a lot of the derogatory 'jokey' comments are good ..... in reference to the comment about Stanley winning the FA Cup I'd rather they mentioned us every time than some other run of the mill League 2 ex non-league team such as maybe Wycombe. Who got to the semi-final not long back!

but not all publicity is good publicity as the recent comments regarding season ticket sales have indicated. Everyone seemed to think we were about to go bust again (many of us included) so that would have been better kept quiet. But it was an effective way of putting out an advert that Eric is open to offers. Although he isn't. Well, he is, but he isn't. Kinda
