Re: Pre-match build up
I dont generally post because to be quite honest i don't think it's worth the time or effort, but i do think your being totally unreasonable where RICKY is concerned. He over took the position as approached by the club, and it has nothing to do with 2BR, between 3pm and 5pm, Ricky is working for Accrington Stanley. Im my little opinion, which im sure isnt worth much, but also in the opinion of alot of other supporters i have spoken to, Ricky is the best PA announcer we have ever had, and you'd go along way to find another Football Club with one as good as RICKY.
For those of you that arnt aware, or think you can call him what you like, HIS NAME IS RICKY KIRBY... Next time you pass him, why don't you stop to say hello, as im sure you'll find he is a lovely bloke, with time to spare for everyone and anyone, including YOU LOT!!!!! |
Re: Pre-match build up
We were led to believe, last season, that 2BR made an offer Stanley coudn't refuse. Which is why we have him.
I have no doubt RICKY is a nice bloke, we just think he should stop playing rubbish music and stop holding up the kick-offs. http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/f...man-27208.html post 34 |

but the top and bottom of it is that a) the younger end (generalised) want to make their own noise from ten minutes before kick-off b) the older end (generalised) in the Cowshed and Main stand don't want their eardrums perforated c) nobody wants 'showtime' type razzamatazz bringing into a Stanley game what the Tannoy Man should do is a) tell us the teams and officials b) pass on any relevant H&S information as and when required c) give out any other information as or when required d) play background music at an audible but not intrusive level The Crossbar challenge is fine as it adds a bit of half-time entertainment for those that aren't drinking, eating or trying to smoke. This messageboard is by no means fully representative of the whole crowd but it is a good cross-section of people from all sides of the ground, young people, old people, officials of the club, Supporters Club and Ultras, new fans and fans who have been there since day dot. Most have commented that it is 'wrong' in some respect although 6 out of 47 voters in the recent poll thought it was fine. If you are indeed Mr Kirby then don't take offence but there was nowt wrong with 'Tannoy Man' who had been with us for a while and was unceremoniously booted out to make way for you. Tannoy Man, in most people's opinion, had the blend right although the tannoy system let him down. Sure he made a few mistakes, but so does RICKY KIRBY, but at least he didn't upset 3-400 floating Burnley fans (although it was funny :D) |
Re: Pre-match build up
I was told on Saturday when I spoke to Ricky that the club tell him what to do. However, a club rep has e-mailed a friend to say the opposite & to e-mail all points to ricky himself
so [email protected] But beware, his tone wasn't the best today:mad: |
Re: Pre-match build up
I can't believe you can even try to compare Tannoy Man with Ricky. No offence John but Ricky is 100% better. His tone is more professional, you can understand what he is saying at all times. Im in the ticket office until well after kick off and i can hear every word that Ricky is announcing. (for those of you who didnt realise who i was), i dont hide behind an alias....
I just think your views are in the olden days, and not interested in moving forward with the times. I can assure you when ive been to Premiership games, they dont cut the music 10 minutes before kick off.... |

Last week when Rob was defending the club in the papers after all the talk about going bust and buy-the-club stepping in, he said that we listen to the fans. If we all wanted it to stop would it? It's probably the same as with everything else, you can't please all of the people all of the time and I don't know what the overall consensus is. I personally don't mind it too much - I get on the ground at 3:02 practically every week, sing for ninety minutes and drink at the new porta-bar during half-time so I don't particularly have to listen to it. But I know that some of the comments made are things that I don't really like. We all joined in with condemning the guy at Stockport last year and that WAS bad (not just his baiting of the Stanley fans) I just don't want us to go down that particular route |
