music to run out to
what do you think we should have? and what do other clubs have? is there a website anybody knows with a list of all the other teams use
I like the Prokofiev that Sunderland use Loweiy |
Re: music to run out to
It has to be Cart On!!
Would be great if one week we could get Celtic Cross down there at the FES doing a live set that I am sure would really pump the fans up!!:):) |
Re: music to run out to
yeah iv got to agree, it has to be cart on stanley. we shouldnt be copying any other club like sunderland, we should do our own thing.
|
Re: music to run out to
Yes, Cart On for me as well. Prokofiev a Mackem then? :)
The tune that has made me laugh/cringe most was Bradford Park Avenue playing Eddy Grant's, "Electric Avenue". :o |
Re: music to run out to
Cart on for me too, unless Zero wants to write a new anthem then we could try that as well.
|
Re: music to run out to
got to say this is one place that ricky kirby is right in my opinion, as his email pointed out it was coley who has asked for the current music which the teams run out to
"John Coleman asked me towards the end of last season to play "Time For Action" when the teams run out. His choice, not mine. He reminded me at the beginning of this season to do the same again as he believes it brought them luck!" <Ricky Kirby> |
Re: music to run out to
Personally, I'd go for Cart On but if Coley has a preference then I'm happy for his choice to be played.
As for Loweiy's initial question, there's a thread on this site that lists some of the tunes that are played: Pre Match Entertainment - Football Ground Guide. They seem a bit confused about what's really played at Sunderland (and PNE). Every other site seems to say it's Dance Of The Knights from Romeo & Juliet but this site has it as Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries. You can check them both out at Amazon.co.uk: Romeo and Juliet (Previn): Music: Sergey Prokofiev and Amazon.co.uk: Wagner Weekend: The Ride of the Valkyries: Music: Richard Wagner,Leopold Stokowski,London Symphony Orchestra |

Re: music to run out to
For me it would be Oasis - F*ckin' in the bushes.
But I think it's right to be the choice of the management. |
Re: music to run out to
Apparently Loweiy is covering this topic in his Radio Lancs show today.
There you go Loweiy... a plug for you. ;) |
Re: music to run out to
One song I forgot about and in my view is genuinely uplifting and inspiring, Could have a little Stanley connection in the title is:
68 Guns by The Alarm (68 the year of reformation) Anyone who wants to check it out it is worth a listen certainly made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end after all these years check out the video at: Counter Attack. in the video section from 1983!!::):) |
Re: music to run out to
I liked it Pendle! You've gotta really listen it out and preferably with the lyrics in front of you (maybe substitute guns for REDS)
And now they're trying to take my life away Forever young I cannot stay Hey On every corner I can see them there They don't know my name they don't know my kind They're after you with their promises (Promises of love) They're after you to sign your life away (Yeah, yeaoh) Sixty-eight Guns will never die Sixty-eight Guns our battle cry Sixty-eight Guns Sixty-eight Guns Oh, the Sixty-eight Living in the backstreets That's our home from home The painted walls were all we've ever known ?he Guns Forever' that's our battle cry It is the flag that we fly so high For every day they'll try and drag us down (Drag us down and down) I cry with anger I have done no crime No (Yeah, yeaoh) Sixty-eight Guns will never die Sixty-eight Guns our battle cry Sixty-eight Guns will never die Sixty-eight Guns our battle cry Sixty-eight Guns Sixty-eight Guns The Sixty-eight Up on the terrace I can hear the crowd roar Sixty Eight Guns And in the subway I can hear them whisper Sixty Eight Guns Through all the raging glory of the years We never once thought of the fears For what we'd do when the battle cry was over . Nothing lasts forever is all they seem to tell you when you're young (I, I do swear To unbreak the promise To unbreak the vow Unbreak it) When you're young Have no illusion, no disillusion Unbreak the promise Unbreak the vow Uphold the promise SIXTY EIGHT GUNS Sixty-eight Guns will never die Sixty-eight Guns our battle cry Sixty-eight Guns will never die Sixty-eight Guns our battle cry Sixty-eight Guns Sixty-eight Guns The sixty eight guns Sixty eight guns The sixty eight guns (LYRICS NICKED FROM The Alarm - Sixty Eight Guns Lyrics | Collection of Song Lyrics at Song Lyrics.com) |
Re: music to run out to
I personally would go for Cart On as well. It's unique for us and if played at the right time with the crowd singing as well would sound really good.
My opinion on Coley picking 'their song' is that maybe they should have that on in the changing room just before they come out, and they should come out to crowd noise or a crowd song. By the time that referee whistle is heard they should be motivated, and switched on ready for the door opening to be greeted by the crowd. |
Re: music to run out to
It`s really Great to see so many of you still rooting for Cart On a year down the line.
Thankyou ALL VERY much you`re a wonderful bunch. I was very nervous when making the record as to how it would be recieved, but from the start many people were very enthusiastic, and i think by now the doubters must realise that I am one of you a not someone out for a quick buck (at Stanley? Ha Ha). Anyway in answer to someone`s question there is a follow up in the pipeline. I`ve got some ideas and riffs which i`ve been working on, originating from some of the drum beats and chants already being used. But this time I would like to work more closely with everyone who likes to sing and shout in developing the vocal aspect. Rather than it be a song penned by an author like the SB E.P. I would like it to be a collaboration of anyone who has anything to say about Stanley (Morecambe fans need not apply). So what d`ya think ? If you think its a good idea then we can start a thread and collect up posts of ideas, even if you`ve just got a one liner you think we`d all like to shout fire `em in. Then I`ll stir `em all up in a Fraser Eagle Barf Bag and see what comes out. I`ve also got plans to concoct a medley of all the Usual songs which use popular tunes, if we`re just making it for ourselves then there wont be any copyright problems. You can never have too many songs. So come on Accywebbers, Stanley Ultras, OSC Lets make a songs by the fans for the fans It`ll be fun. Personally I`d have used "Stanleys Back" as loud as the PA could handle for the run out and make everyone outnoise it. Just cos I want my evil guitar to strike terror into the opposition. LoL Z |
Re: music to run out to
Top Idea Zero!
I still think it would be excellent if you could perform before one of the home games!:) |

the only song which i would replace cart on with if I had to is
creed - my sacrifice. |
Re: music to run out to
Has to be "Accrington Go" for me. Although "Cart On" or "On Stanley On" are both excellent ideas too. It has to be something unique to our club.
|
Re: music to run out to
I must admit I like the sound of Zero playing during the half time break that would realy wind up the opposition fans!!
top idea lets get Stanley singing Loweiy |
Re: music to run out to
Or they could run out during a garbled announcement, have a couple of bars of, "Time for Action", before the team is announced over the top.
Which is exactly what happened, seemed to set the scene for what was to come. :( |
Re: music to run out to
Quite right Oggy. Absolutely disgraceful last night. Tinpot to the extreme.

Re: music to run out to
Enough is enough this amateur has to go but the problem is he thinks he does a good job, we need a plan to cut the wires.

Re: music to run out to
I cant believe that Ricky has AGAIN been mentioned in a thread that has nothing to do with him. If you read the other threads its clearly states that it is John Coleman that chooses the music the team runs out to. If you dont agree with it, speak to John, Ricky just plays it. Ill tell you what bagpuss, GET A LIFE!!! Its a pity you've nothing more important to worry about. And for the record between 2PM and 5PM Ricky represents Accrington Stanley and not 2br, he only does, says, and plays what he's asked to by the club...

Re: music to run out to
Must be the only club in the football league where officials of the club actually allow their feelings to get the better of them and post what can best be described as sideswipes at some fans.

My favourite has always been Liquidator by Harry J and the Allstars. Look it up if you don't know it.
