A minor reliquary cult

Some of you may have read David Winner's excellent book on Dutch Football, Brilliant Orange. The linking of Bergkamp's passing to Dutch architecture is unforgettable, while the lack of an horizon in a flat land also adds a dimension not obviously apparent to the average Whinney Hill spectator.

Anyway the writer has now shifted his attention to English football, and Accrington Stanley appear on page 98. He oppines that a minor reliquary cult has grown around the team that died in 1962. For once I think he's got it wrong, but maybe I'm mistaken, any thoughts?

well if it is only a minor reliquary cult then maybe it is right. After all, many of us hold the club - past and present, in a 'religious' esteem, so maybe he is almost on the button?

I'm tempted to invite him to the OSC Exhibition, where he can explain himself. He doesn't seem to realise that Stanley are back ........ and on the attack.

maybe if he oppines that Stanley 62 are held sacred, he may make assumptions that Stanley, like Jesus, rose again?

I think he's just showed himself up at the smartarse end of the football writer's market, too hooked on making himself look clever.
