Just letting you guys know that Stanley Ladies will be playing Whitehaven Ladies tommorow at 2pm at King Georges pitches up in Baxenden. Accrington currently lie in 5th, while Whitehaven lie in 7th. So it should be a great game!!!

Re: Stanley Ladies vs Whitehaven
An excellant game today from 2 teams who were prepared to compete physically as well as skillfully. Despite this there was only one booking for a whitehaven player and the game was played in a good spirit with both sides taking and delivering some crunching tackles.
The first half was very even with whitehaven hitting the post and bar whilst Stanley had plenty of forward endevour, just failing to find the killer ball in the final third. Half time 0-0 The second half was very much stanley's, with constant pressure being applied to the whitehaven defence. Whitehaven did have some success on breaks up field from defensive situations but none of them proved fruitful as Stanley continued to have most of the possession. In the final 10 minutes Stanley had several efforts on goal without managing to find the back of the net and the final whistle was blown. Final score 0-0 Another clean sheet for the ladies and another point, taking this seasons points total to 5 from 7 games, and leaving us in mid table. Well done ladies!!! |

Re: Stanley Ladies vs Whitehaven
Just want to reiterate Sparkie's comments really, it was a good game, Whitehaven are a new side to this league and have had a 'up and down' season so far so we didn't really know what to expect from them.
They were a highly competitive side with a few 'dubious' tackles to say the least but overall our girls stood up to the task really well and even though we could have won it right at the death, I'm happy to take a point!! Next up Sefton away next Sunday at 2pm! :) |
