Draw For the 1st Round of the F.A. Cup

As the draw for the FA Cup is made this Saturday at 17.10!:)
Who you like to see Stanley get in the first round of the FA Cup?

Bradford, as they were 3 weeks ago.

Toss up between
1. Bury to show the last result between us was a fluke
2. Love to do Forest again, what a night :)

Havant and Waterlooville away (5 miles up the road) :)

Will Leeds be in the draw? That would be some game!!! Wise back at the crown ground!

Yeah I think all league one & two teams plus others from the 4th Qualifying Round are in!

Leeds at home could be lucrative if the T.V. cameras take an interest and I am sure it could be perhaps be a sell out?:)

Re: Draw For the 1st Round of the F.A. Cup

Yeah i`d like Leeds at home, as i`m sure it would be a sell out, but saying that the way they are going at the moment i think we may struggle against them, but then again it is the F.A cup, where upsets are always on the cards.
If not Leeds, then maybe Halifax or York City.

Re: Draw For the 1st Round of the F.A. Cup

Any of the winners of the following games, at home, for old time's sake. :)

Kendal Town v Altrincham
Histon v Bamber Bridge
Southport v Northwich Victoria
Farsley Celtic v Barrow
Bradford (Park Avenue) v Gainsborough Trinity

I just want us to get to 3rd round, then Everton or Liverpool away, with the scousers winning; that's us, obviously. ;)

definitely leeds for me. although i wouldnt mind going out so we can concentrate on getting ourselves in the play offs. it worked in the conference season

Still ain't foregotten the away replay against Harrogate Town in the 4th Qual some (6) years ago

Revenge there would be good...

Barrow away is the least attractive place ever to go out the cup at so as long as it ain't there (or Mansfield) then I'll be happy

:) leeds would be the one at home a real money spinner and a sell out to boot :xena_bana

If we were to get Leeds away, does the club get a % of the gate? If so Leeds away would possibly be more lucative than Leeds at home.

I an not 100% sure but I think the gate is split?
I think just in terms of giving the whole Town a lift and getting behind the team it would probably be better at Home?:)
But if it were too be away it could be the largest away support ever for Stanley?
Plus the fact if it was too be televised it could put Stanley back in the media spotlight and add a "feel good factor" !

So it'll probably be South Torquay Workingmans Club -away.

I'm not sure and could be completely wrong but, I think with the FA Cup the gate money is split 3 ways between the 2 teams and the FA itself.

Could be wrong though

No you'right, sort of. Fa get 5% for their pool, rest of net receipts split between clubs. There's a 22 page breakdown @ http://www.thefa.com/NR/rdonlyres/B5...pRules0607.PDF Item 22 for gate receipts.

I'm still hoping for two wins and then a premiership team (away) in 3rd and subsequent rounds. Let's win it the hard way. ;)

Re: Draw For the 1st Round of the F.A. Cup

I'd like a home draw, against a side who we can beat (preferably non league) with the oppertunity to progress to the third round and hopefully draw any one of the big premier league teams away.( I'd prefer Man U-forget the stuffing we may get, with 70,000 in the place it would generate some coin !!) After all, the cup run of a few years ago gave the club the platform to go full time and onto the success we've achieved since!!:)

Re: Draw For the 1st Round of the F.A. Cup

On the other hand, there are teams like former World Cup winners, West Auckland, still in the competition. Last time we played them away in a cup competition there was a crowd of about 80 - and we lost!

After a replay at their place, Mike. ;)

Sorry, West Auckland got knocked out 5-1 by Bamber Bridge in a 3rd Qualifying Round replay - so we won't be meeting them! The final 4th Qual Round line-up is at TheFA.com - FA Cup Fixtures. Rushall Olympic isn't too far for me!!

I'd be worried about the geography expert at the FA if he/she managed to get them in the Northern section of the draw :D

absolutely no Conference teams please. But Barrow would be fine. Failing that one of the bigger League 1 teams. I suppose Leeds would be everybody's plum draw and I am no exception. Away from home please and lets see how many buses we can fill

Is it still regional? Looking at some of last year's ties (Weymouth v Bury and Exeter v Stockport), possibly it isn't any more. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong!!:)

southernred 26-10-2007 19:48

Re: Draw For the 1st Round of the F.A. Cup

Mike,

You're correct.

The 1st and 2nd rounds used to be regionalised ( as are all the Qualifying rounds) For about the last six ( maybe more) all the proper rounds are now national.

The 1st year it was national in round 1 I remember hearing Fulham V LeighRMI, and Leigh drew 1-1 @ Craven Cottege.

Yes we might get Leeds, but we also could get Eastbourne or Bromley away!

Was all ticket then Ken, with Hudds reduced to 300 odd on police advice, ACCY had Clayton & Coppice & queues where back to Livi Rd

I reckon with our ground improvements notably police box & CCTV Hudds will be allowed as many as they can muster

I reckon 4000 odd & we will get a replay at the Gayfarm
