Re: Barnet live on the radio?

I suspect they aren't licenced to cover 2 live games in one day which must be frustrating when they are on at different times and they could cover both

K.S.H 27-10-2007 13:56

Re: Barnet live on the radio?

Re: Barnet live on the radio?

Dan says technological constraints prevent them from giving full match commentary today, is it cause their covering Burnley or Barnet haven't agreed?

Stanleymad 27-10-2007 14:01

Re: Barnet live on the radio?

Mmmm makes sence & typical Blackburn - cover somewhere further way than down road - even worse :(

Re: Barnet live on the radio?

Sounds more like extended highlights comong from Barnet rather than updates. Somebody pushing the rules a bit ? :)

Re: Barnet live on the radio?

IS there no one i can broach my complaint [other than here] about who decides coverage or what nots, cos its peed me off being ruled by 'other football clubs':(

Least thanks to dan for pushing it

Up the stanley!

sparkie 27-10-2007 14:24

Re: Barnet live on the radio?

yeah not quite the facilities that we have, but they're making a real effort with the 'extended' coverage!!!

lancsdave 27-10-2007 14:24

Re: Barnet live on the radio?

Seems strange that they have sent Kaz down to summarise. Doesn't normally go for updates.

DAV007 27-10-2007 14:25

Re: Barnet live on the radio?

trying to find a local station near barnet covering the match - no luck as yet.

Hertbeat FM - The Best Songs On The Radio - The Best Of Hertfordshire - wate of time. less covarage than 2br and terrible music.

Re: Barnet live on the radio?

Dan 28-10-2007 08:23

Re: Barnet live on the radio?

I've posted summat to this effect on the "Barnet Game" thread, but it's probably worth a recap. The fact that we couldn't do full match commentary had nothing to do with the Burnley game, or anything at our end.

Barnet are a great club and I like making the trip down there, but their press facilities leave a lot to be desired. Normally we would have commentary on ISDN (the clear quality you usually get for the full matches) but there are no ISDN points (or at least none that the peasants of commercial radio are permitted to use - cheers Auntie Beeb) and our fall back option is to use an ordinary phoneline (2/3 of the quality of ISDN) but yep, there were none of those either...

So what we ended up doing was using a mobile phone SIM card. The broadcast quality of this is pretty poor, and it's a bit like making a call when you only have one bar of signal - it can drop and disconnect at any time.

The last 10/15 minutes of the game were really on a wing and a prayer - I hope it stayed in and was understandable!

I only really come on here to tell you about the coverage, and I assure you that when we can bring you commentary we will, and I'll let you know and if we can't bring you commentary then we'll bring you the best coverage we can.

Hope that's ok...

Much appreciated Dan indeed of your efforts, it held quite well despite the circumstances:thumbsup:

Seem to remember another time radio sockets was a problem, was that barnet? So which is the worse place to do stanley coverage/facilities to broadcast in ???:D Seem to remember Karen bringing her laptop to one or net phone & updating us on gabby chat here one time last year LOL:D
