Craney Returns To Swansea

Ian Craney has been recalled by Swansea City see Fishy Site!!:eek:

Redash 01-11-2007 15:24

Re: Craney Returns To Swansea

That's rather disappointing. Just because he scored against Barnet, doesn't mean he's fully match fit with a confidence boost. Do Swansea know anything about players? he would have needed at least 18 months to get his fitness back to what is needed for league 1.

Craney out. Twissy out.

I think that gives you lads the edge.

Re: Craney Returns To Swansea

There's nothing obvious about why he's been recalled on Swansea's site and I can't be bothered searching it. So why is there nowt on Stanley's site about the reason for the recall? Rob???

DAV007 01-11-2007 21:16

Re: Craney Returns To Swansea

Swansea midfileder Bodde has a medium-term hip injury - but they have 3 other midfielders to cover his position excluding Craney.

I presume someone else has come in with an offer for him so he's been recalled in order to send him out on loan to his new suitors before a permanent move in Jan?

strange.

Re: Craney Returns To Swansea

This is tragic news, I just hope this is not a pre-cursor to the events last season. I was tempted to change my prediction for tomorrow, but I will stick with it and have faith in the players we already have and just hope we can continue in our unbeaten run.

Tin Monkey 02-11-2007 09:57

Re: Craney Returns To Swansea

It is indeed very bad news. Craney gave us penetration up front, something we've lacked all season.
We were only talking on Wednesday night at the reserves about our position now, compared to last season. It was about this time last season that we had 17 points from the opening 13 games, but we then lost 9 games in a row. This season we're 2 points better off. Let's hope that history isn't about the repeat itself.

carpon 02-11-2007 10:25

Re: Craney Returns To Swansea

I'd echo the sentiments stated in this thread. It's bad news, but surely with Craney going back to Swansea it gives somebody else in the squad the chance to step up to the challenge of filling the void. Incentive enough to earn a regular starting berth.

Depends on the formation Coley uses I suppose, but if you're going to ask someone to provide the penetration and a little bit of cut and thrust that Craney gave us,my money would be with Boco.

there was good news this week with a specialist's report on Romuald Boco's back injury revealing that he could be back in action within a few weeks

Re: Craney Returns To Swansea

I think tragic news is a bit on the strong side - disappointing yes and bloody annoying that there is the instant recall clause in every loan especially when Swansea didn't even see fit to give Ian a squad number & were happy for him to be loaned out.
It's happened at a bad time with Rommy being out at the moment too but lets face it - Ian wasn't back for good, he was always going to go back to Swansea at some point, he said as much when he signed.

Re: Craney Returns To Swansea

I would like to see Paul Carden given another go in the middle or John Miles playing just in behind the front two, both have points to prove and I would have thought be chomping at the bit!

you beat me to the scoring a cracker at morecambe bay wynonie!!!

Great news!!!

Also have been told by Dany from the observer that she has spoke to Rommy and he expects to be back in next couple of weeks. He's gone back to France for some rehab and to rest his back (slight fracture, recurrance of last years injury) but was fortunate that his injury was spotted early with a scan.

He's miffed he will miss the huddersfield match but should be available for rotherham

Methinks it involved several bouncers & "an offer he couldn't refuse" :p:D

Great news.

So he's back again !! Great news!! And thanks for the gen on Boco !! Wasn't aware he's injured currently!!! I hope that if at all possible the club can tie up a permanent deal for Craney in January. The fee Swansea may ask may beyond the clubs means at the moment, but given a good cup run...

To be honest, I would rather we tied up a few of our players on longer contracts before we signed craney.

Re: Craney Returns To Swansea

the rumour was (before we re-got Craney) that Peterborough-loads-of-dosh had offered £250k for OUR midfield maestro.

Until I heard that I had wondered whether we may have £100k spare to sign Mr Crnaey but obviously we hadn't when he got recalled yesterday! But if that sort of money was the bid (VERY reliable source) then I am flummoxed as to how we have manage to get huim here until January. £100k signing fee would have divided the fans as to whether it was a good deal or not, and I think it would have been, but IF THE RUMOUR OF £250,000 is true then there is very little argument.

But i think that this is exceptionally good news so welcome back Ian, if you only have one goal in you over the next two games then save the cracker for Morecambe Bay please!!!

Jeez what the **** is going on. Do we have a bungee attached to Ian's back or summat. Glad to hear he is now staying till the end of the year. Thank god somebody has very persuasive powers. Feel more confident about tomorrow again now.

crazy game football. hope this is the end of the saga and there are no more twists. we are a better team with ian on board. but lets not forget we have lost drew and won the 3 games he has played since he has been back the win he only played 10 mins in. my point being it wont be the end of the world if we lose him again cos as we know this is the best squad we have had for years.

End of year, actually.

If we were to able spend money on anybody, then Craney would get my vote.
£75k would be a nice price, maybe Alty would give us half. :)

The story I heard was that Craney had refused to sign for Peterborough and that's why the deal had broken down. That report was from last week, so there may be some truth in the story I heard.

I was going off the phrase "Craney has had a successful loan spell at his former Club scoring two goals; his last against Barnet on the weekend", which would make that report a week old.
