Just back from Morecambe - well done lads or should i say Bavo [my MOM] He made some brilliant saves indeed.

Tho i dont know if it aired about the match being stopped briefly as a few idiots decided to throw till rolls from away end to the goal posts - litterally covered it with streamers of white till roll - some of us got hit by some stray ones too from those responsible behind us, which resulted in 2 being escorted off the ground to the police station. Im not a party pooper but doing that after we scored made our fans look like hoolies IMHO, also a crowd shove in middle section - blumming daft & spoilt a good belt of fan spirited away end chants. But other than that a good 3 points:D

Outback Ozzy 06-11-2007 22:13

Re: Morecambe game

Just got back myself and I have to echo the comments of Stanleymad. Certain child like members of the away support throwing till rolls basically putting Bavs off, but TBH he took it in good humour. A certain younger member of the Stanley fan club was just about to chuck another when I warned him off, just as the Cops were escorting 2 of ours to Lancaster nick for drunk and disorderly. We just do not need this sort of person following the club dragging the name of it through the mud. Apparently the upshot is that they both have 2 home game bans now (or so I heard). Bav's was most definitely MOM so me wonderful saves, although quite why we have a tendency to sit back in the second half and try and defend a lead is beyond me. Great advert for flowing football - apparently according to Radio Lancs even Mark Halsey says so, but he missed 2 clear penalties (to be fair its was one for each team) and only one yellow card brandished all match and that to a Morecambe player. Says it all. Lets beat Huddersfield again this Saturday. That will really make my weekend.

Very lucky if thats all. Standard practice for an arrestable offence at a football ground nowadays is a banning order for at least 2 years from all games.

Re: Morecambe game

I thought we played really well in the first half and defended well in the second, in fairness i think Morecambe will be feeling similar to what we did last saturday, i dont think Morecame played any worse or better than us, as i dont think we did against Notts County, so i guess its just a case of swings and roundabouts, that said well done to the lads it was certainly an improvement from saturday, and i thought Morecambe were a better team than Notts County, just hope we can keep it up for the Huddersfield game.

I`m not saying they were right or wrong to throw the till rolls, but i think that it was only done in fun, it was nowhere near as bad as the till roll throwing at Rochdale last season, and not only that, one of those thrown out was Jase, i think he`s done more to rally support for the club and make it more vocal than anyone, he`s someone i`d say that is needed following the club, or we`d all be stood there in total silence.
But thats just my own opinion.

Like i said im not a party pooper but just wasn't needed during the game TBH, & the crowd noise level & chanting thro stand was doing really well out-singing the Morecambe lot so doubt very much silence but again he & others brought those efforts to the club during matches & that is positive fan elevation but till rolling during the match - resulting in losing out to bans themselves - counteracts those efforts, tho have to give credit to those that kept the chant momentum going till the end:D

They could of saved the goalpost decoration at the end of the match:rofl38:hehehehe

Having Jase Banned from matches is as bad for the team having Mullers suspended.
If the Extent of Stanleys hooliganism is a bit of till roll throwing then Millwall watch out !

Any way a good neet out with another 3 points in the bag, was a pretty even game which could have gone either way. We took the initiaitive early on then batlled for it the rest. I think there were 2 good shouts for a penno on roscoe one clear cut round the necker which would have been a foul in Rugby.
Bavs Kept us in it.
Not the most glorius specimen but workmanlike and fruitful.
Lets Bring it home for The Udders.

here`s a 15 match comparison from last year

Re: Morecambe game

back from game in a flash of light :D

Unfortunately all the action was down t'other end

1st half all us

2nd half mostly morecambe

Should have buried it in first half but was unlucky, and bav's made some outstanding saves tonight and def is my MOM

I have no probs with the till rolls being thrown but before the match not just after we have scored, so match halted whilst it's cleared up and we lose the momentum we have just gained from scoring, never mind match restarted with bavs trying to clear one particular till roll from being wrapped round his legs...(ok admit it was quite funny) but must have done nothing for his concentration.

I think we were lucky to a certain extent coming away with a win, it could have so easily been a draw as we seemed to drop off big time in second half

But overall some good footy played

Sorry to hear that, I'm sure Jase is going to be gutted and I have little doubt that he thought he was just trying to raise a laugh. Which one of us has set out in the past with a good heart looking only to raise the banter and made (*) of ourselves.

Could have gone either way. You bossed the first half and deserved your lead. We put a lot of pressure on second half and were unlucky not to get anything out of it but that's how it goes. No-one can deny you worked hard enough and played well enough to get the points.
I just hope we can do as you seem to have done and have a look at this league and then sort out who's up to it, wo's not and bring in some quality to strengthen certain positions - be that January or (if we're still here and I think we will be) in the close season.
We do have the funds to strengthen and, with a new ground in the offing and the investment we've made to get here, our chairman isn't going to let us go back down again. MFC - Football League Forever (there must be a banner in that somewhere?)

Good luck - can't see you struggling and, who knows, bit of luck and a fair wind .... Wembley?

Re: Morecambe game

Just got back from the game after a few celebratory jars in the local !!:D

Solid performance, great 1st half, had to weather a bit of a Morecambe backlash in the 2nd, but all in all nothing more than we deserved tonight. Could have been 3 up at the break.

Dunbavin had a blinder, made some crucial saves and when he may have been beaten, there seemed to always to be someone there to make the block!! We all knew that Morecambe would come after us in the second half, but the side adopted a little of what i'd call the "siege mantality" and held them.

I'm a bit bemused by the attitude of the stewards at that place. Celebrations (which may have been deemed a little over the top by the officials there) have to be taken into context. For Lads to end up with a ban for something so trivial is ludicrous. For crying out loud, they weren't throwing flares or any missile with an intent to injure anybody !! Just over zelous celebrations which should have been taken into account(with reference to the situation) by the authorities. Mind you, some folk have nothing better to do with theirselves. Get a bit of authority and it goes to their head.

"Hooligans"??? Don't make me laugh.:(

you'll never stand there in silence. The support ralied and we had good moments. There was lulls in the noise in the second half but with most of the play going in the opposite direction and the Ultras spread out it was never gonna really happen like it could. That said the first 20 minutes was awesome. Numerous texts received said that all you could hear on the radio was Stanley, that'll do for me.

don't be daft Zero, one in one out, if somebody aint making th enoise then someone else will, guaranteed, somebody will always step up to the oche. Jase has done some phenomenal things for the support but tonight maybe he overstepped the mark? He knows what went on outside to gtet nicked but it was a no-brainer that he was gonna get chucked out for the till-rolls during the game, nobody really cares at the start of the game. People got hit, stewards, Stanely fans, Bavs was only inches away from one on the chin and you could see the whole team kinda looking and asking why?

But anyroads, the support was good, but could have been better, the team were good but never great. They deserved the points for the resolute defending and excellent attack on the break football.

Well done Stanley, we are now firmly in the top half

i for one have been a friend on jase for a long time, and he has done a lot for asfc re flags and banners, but according to football league ground rules, throwing missiles which till rolls are considered to be is an offence and deemed dangerous and is punishable by law, gone are the days when you could throw toilet rolls (back in the 70,s),even when we were in the unibond league we got away with it and i have thrown a few myself,i just hope that the officials at asfc including EW realise what an asset as a fan jase is and only ban him for a few games.

i think the till roll situation is overshadowing a very good away performance again. ( just need the same at home now) first half we were excellent fast counter attack football mixed with some quality possesion when needed. second half, fair play to morecambe they upped there game the lad baker who was very poor in the first half really came into the game. but credit were credits due the lads defended fantastically every one of them from mullin to bav. there was always some one there to make last ditch tackles which for me is good defending/covering. Jay harris was my mom full of energy and quality just edged out bav and cav

One of them was the main man behind our support of Morecambe at your place not so long ago against Hereford. Do you still think he deserves all he gets for chucking a single deadly toilet roll for Christie's sake?

I have to say I thought it was just a bit of a laugh. The fact it was thrown towards your own keeper showed there was no 'missile' element. Are we saying tickertape welcomes for home-coming heroes are to result in criminal charges? They'll be banning confetti at weddings next.
As long as the minute or two tidying up is added on by the ref, no great problem IMO. Hope Jase isn't pilloried for this.

if anyone has watched Football Factories international on Virgin or some such channel.... throwing bog roll is a very minor problem!!!!!!!! the one about croatia and serbia being particularly violent.

Stanleymad 07-11-2007 17:46

Re: Morecambe game

It wasn't bog roll it was till roll harder difference tho dont see the relevance Glosterred of comparing it to football factories & obviously u didnt get hit by one on the bonce either:rolleyes:

Take from it what U will

And last year, when "Played" had moved on to 24, "Points" had only made it to 23. Game 25 (Wrexham away) was the next win.

That can't happen again :)

Surely ?

Please ?

Not checked the fixture list but maybe those will be away games that Stanley fans should avoid :)

I didnt realise that some of the people on here are so petty.

a till roll - of all the things to be hit with, you are moaning about a till roll.

The wind was more threatening than a till roll last night.

If Jase is clever, he cant be banned.

I watched Jase the whole time from the goal to him getting chucked out - he did not throw anything.
There where no cameras either.
If he is clever, the club cant touch him.
I havent meet everyone in the OSC or the ultras, but the lads and girls I have meet and chatted to - I would put Jase right up their for loving the club.
(Your not far behind harewood red!).

Stanley needs all the fans it can get, banning anyone is ridiculous.

Btw - do you know I have a cousin from Hydburn who looks just like Jase.

Errr whose Harewood red???? ;):D but thanks for the compliment but I think jase has been around and done a fair bit more than me when it comes to promoting the club... I do try  I for one hope that there is no banning order as he has apologised and as has been said on another thread think it's best to leave it there :)

LETS NOT FORGET WE BEAT MORECAMBE ...YIPPEE

I was very surprised that Stanley brought fewer fans to a football league game here than they brought to any of the Conference games at Christie even though 2 of those were at Christmas.
