Adult Flexi Ticket

Check out details on Fishy Site
Ten game ticket and a half price shirt looks like a top idea!:)
Maybe a good Chrissie Pressie

Cracking idea, wonder if I can get the 10% discount on top

It's obviously very easy to forget the amount of money season ticket holders have put in before the start of the season, when there's so few of us.
Why didn't season ticket holders get the half price shirt offer?
The idea is a very good one, don't get me wrong. It should get a lot of revenue in, before Chrimbo especially. But the way this club has a habit of coming up with 'great marketing ideas' mid-season, and comlpetely forgetting about paid up season ticket holders while doing it, really annoys me.

Some good points!
It will always be a fine line between not offending everybody and maybe with that in mind and numbers we are talking about the Club perhaps could roll out the idea of the Half price shirts to existing Season Ticket Holders. At the end of the day you will shift more shirts and in a more direct way you got the best form of advertising going people walking round in the Clubs Colours
Is this the first time that the Club have offered a half season tickets of sorts?
If so then I think they should be commended

Re: Adult Flexi Ticket

yeah a good move by the club and shows they ar enow starting to think outside of the proverbial box. But it would be a better move to offer the half price shirts to existing ticket holders as well rather than rewarding those who didn't splash out earlier.

Re: Adult Flexi Ticket

Yet again the club have played a blinder - at the beginning of the season I was chuffed to bits to get 10% off stuff in the Stanley store with my season ticket, first time we've had the discount - maybe next year I should keep my hand in my pocket a bit longer & see what special offers the club comes up with later on on the season.
Don't get me wrong, the half season ticket is a brilliant idea & to do it as a flexi-ticket is also good but why should anyone who buys one have the half price shirt offer too, fair enough they should have the same discount as other season ticket holders but is it really fair to offer them more?

lancsdave 04-12-2007 07:11

Re: Adult Flexi Ticket

On a lighter note I presume the drinks are cheap in the Crown ?

If you use all ten tickets for ten people on one day the £13 saved buys you all a drink in the Crown. Make mine a half :)

On a serious note the 50% is a great offer, hopefully the club will realise the error they have made towards their more loyal fans.

Re: Adult Flexi Ticket

another nice move by the club. both my wife and myself are season ticket holders, bought and paid for in May, we have also bought 2 shirts at full price at the beginning of the season. this is happening every season, remember the free child entrance to games, after we had bought a childs season ticket. There is no thought given to the present ticket holders. No wonder the season ticket holders are going down. I think there will be two more missing next seson. I'm not even considering the free match last season, it's not worth considering the purchase again unless the Club stop behaving so amateurish, and get their act together. All these offers should be thought out before the season and make the most of the resources available.

Tin Monkey 04-12-2007 10:30

Re: Adult Flexi Ticket

I won't be buying a season ticket next year. As others have said, the half season ticket is great, but the lack of thought concerning people who shelled out in May for a season ticket is a serious flaw.
Another nail in the coffin for me.

I know I shouldn't but I can't help feeling pretty chuffed with myself for deciding not to renew my season ticket this season.

Personally I think the club as a good will gesture should offer all the season ticket holders one of the t-shirts that have appeared in the clubshop (not online for you worthless fans who don't live in Accrington IMHO).

That last line on the t-shirt looks familiar:eek:

I like those tshirts TM, haven't spotted them - may meander for a peak how much??? for non season ticket holder ??:D

Tho have to say that the flexi ticket is a good idea about time should i say for those of us to spread the cost & think season ticket holders should also have the half price shirt offer too - alls fair for club & fans then, but a good foot in the right direction:D

at risk of being controversial (and possibly get lynched off the forum)......to the season ticket holders having a whine - GET OVER YOURSELVES!! You probably already purchased a club shirt, you get a discount already and although i havent done the math, i would imagine you save more money with the season ticket

this is a great move by the club to attract new interest in the club and they should be commended. many people on here are quick to slate the club on missed opportunities. how can they win when any new moves to attract support are also slated by selfish supporters who's primary concern seems to be their own pockets?

i dont care how people choose to show their support. not everyone can make every game so a season ticket is not a viable option. this offer gives such fans opportunity to be rewarded for their commitment in the same way that season ticket holders get an annual saving for their commitment.

The holding of a season ticket does not make the holder any more important than a fan without one, nor does it entitle the holder the right to claim it unfair if future offers exclude them. you knew what you were getting when you bought your season tickets. nothing has changed the value of your tickets.

If you wish to take a chance next season and wait for the christmas offer then do so - but there is no need to post it on here as a moral stand. it is this sort of elitism that will turn new readers of this forum away from the club.

Re: Adult Flexi Ticket

I don't do football but I can't help wondering why you buy a season ticket in the first place.
Is it just to get in the games cheaper or
is it a way of supporting your club by putting money into it?

I see a lot of you commenting when the club is not being supported by enough people and also when the team is not doing very well. Now I see some of you complaining when the club tries to earn some more money. I assume that having more money can improve the side, new players etc.

So what is the problem?

Are you interested in the club doing well or just interested in getting something as cheaply as possible?

Pendle Red 05-12-2007 06:16

Re: Adult Flexi Ticket

As I have already said the Club should be commended on this idea, it is fresh and hopefully will bring some much needed extra support and revenue into the Club:)
But I think the general opinion is of Season Ticket Holders that it would not have took much imagination to have done the shirt offer for the numbers we are talking, if people already have the shirts then so be it but at least everybody gets treated the same I chose to get Season Tickets as a way of showing my support for the Club and nothing has changed for me personally:)

dabeast 05-12-2007 07:23

Re: Adult Flexi Ticket

but why SHOULD the club open the offer to season ticket holders? there is no divine right to the offer.

Pendle Red 05-12-2007 07:37

Re: Adult Flexi Ticket

Nobody is asking for a divine right
Just to be treated equally

dabeast 05-12-2007 07:52

Re: Adult Flexi Ticket

by that logic the season ticket should cost 23 times a normal matchday ticket so those who cant make every match are treated equally

Stanleymad 05-12-2007 08:45

Re: Adult Flexi Ticket

I think the main point of issue is not alienating existing fans that regularly purchase season ticket holders as well as attracting new support & coffers to the club. I think what Neil has said [from an outsider point of view] has brought up a good question of the fine line line between the 2 - which is very hard to balance anyway but i do think that the club is at least trying to do something for those that cannot afford the full season ticket at once, that is an improvement:D

Seems the club are making baby steps towards the views of fans & how to improve support & yet in other areas of shop/commercialism ie legends, online shop & sponsorship needs a further tweaking.

Re: Adult Flexi Ticket

If season ticket holders aren't important how come Eric was complaining about the lack of them ?

They form the foundations of the clubs support by committing money up front to the club, up to 12 months in advance in some cases. Most clubs wouldn't survive without them. Obviously they are so few Stanley have taken the view they don't need them anyway.

Re: Adult Flexi Ticket

Personally, I buy a season ticket as a way of showing support to the club. As I usually miss one or two matches through holidays, I probably lose out on it, but I don't mind. I think the new flexi-ticket is a great idea and a sign that the club is showing a bit more initiative in promotion and marketing. Yes, they could have extended the half-price shirt deal to us existing season ticket holders and I hope maybe they'll consider it in the light of comments on here, but I don't think that should overshadow an otherwise excellent move by the club. What concerns me far more are the instances of inefficiency which have been highlighted on here by posts about merchandise, programmes etc ordered and not received and emails unanswered. In particular Tin Monkey's experience of handing his bank details over for the Stanley Legends and then hearing nothing. As a born optimist, I would like to think that the introduction of the flexi-tickets marks a more professional approach at the club!

No-one on here has said that season ticket holders are more important than fans who pay on the gate week in-week out & everyone as far as I can see supports the new flexi ticket as a good step forward.
The point is it's not the first time something like this has happened, last season it was letting under 12's in for free half way through the season after some of us had already bought our kids' season tickets - I think what most of us are saying is that a bit more forethought from the club would be appreciated.

dabeast 05-12-2007 09:27

Re: Adult Flexi Ticket

lancsdave. nobody as far as i can see said season ticket holders were not important. I agree the free kids offer was a fiasco but this is not really comparable

Re: Adult Flexi Ticket

Think is stanley are in a precarious position anyway, 44 years out of league, least 2 bigger established clubs on the doorstep took over during stanleys demise -loss of youth generation passing of support, easy view thro sky/santanta sports, loss of industry townsfolk are more prudent, commercial world where people do look for a bargain, loyalty lost, gone is the working class game of owd etc - ALL are playing its part certainly lower the leagues u go. As for Stanley we are having to rebuild ourselves all over again especially in the fanbase department, especially with the long gap & competition for support is on the high. The rest of Accrington is either still not used to having a footy team or is apathetic enough to feel that history will repeat as it has done before so scared to have full support or have any loyality to it but fortunately there is a good few of us that have & will.

So u look at that & u put yourself in Club's shoes it has a lot of walls to hop over yet & is a rather long haul, so u then can see where the intro of this flexi ticket is coming from. Forethought would be a good idea as well, but as with any other commercial outlets etc is that good deals can crop up at any time, 1/2 price near xmas, the buy one get one free offers that come along, seems they can do it & will always be sods law someone buys something then next week theres a deal on it - ALL shops do it, we accept that, but seems when it comes to stanley they cant , u take the risk of purchasing a season ticket at the deal of it set as with owt the club have to compete as above which they are doing in form of loss leaders to tempt, it shows the club are trying methods & coming up with the times i'suppose.

Could the season tickets be improved if so then how?

Just say that you bought a new TV last July from Comet. Now, approaching Christmas, you see the same TV for sale cheaper, with a free DVD player. Would you expect Comet to offer anybody who bought the TV earlier a free DVD player ?

It's a good point but if it was me when Comet come asking me again to buy a new telly next June/July and I knew they always offered a better deal at Christmas then I would save my money for the better deal. Wouldn't do a great deal for Comets cash flow though :)

Depends what you want for your money. :)

Re: Adult Flexi Ticket

Well all I know is I'll certainly be taking this offer up. I understand what the season ticket holders are saying but Stanley is not the only club to do this kind of thing - Rovers went down exactly the same route of offering mid-season deals and had the same complaints from their own season ticket holders. It's a fair deal aimed at increasing support, its not like all the remaining matches will be half price or something.

I have never had a season ticket because I know that I'll miss a few matches because of work commitments (particularly on Friday nights!) and I can't afford to spend so much knowing that I'll not be there. This allows for some flexibility but increases the commitment of otherwise less committed fans.

dabeast 05-12-2007 13:44

Re: Adult Flexi Ticket

the point is that the new deal isnt actually as good as the season ticket price anyway. so its like buying a tv in the summer sale, then seeing it go up in price (u got a good deal!) before being offered at a reduced (but still greater than you paid) price with HALF PRICE dvd player.

however, had you bought the dvd player at FULL PRICE when you originally got the tv, you would STILL HAVE GOT IT CHEAPER THAN THE NEW OFFER. how can you possibly complain?

AccyMad 05-12-2007 14:40

Re: Adult Flexi Ticket

This debate can go round & round in circles forever - existing season ticket holders and non season ticket holders are never going to agree on this, yes it's a brilliant idea & good luck to all who buy one but a lot of people are never gonna be happy about it.

There were more than 118 bought this season, that was the figure quoted at the start of the season for full season tickets, there was the concessions on top of that and more people bought them before the first home game. At the start of the season is when Clubs need money the most (for signing players etc.) I would hope that all current season ticket holders will renew theirs next season and so SUPPORT the Club. After all you are not supposed to be in it for what you can get out of it.

shakermaker 05-12-2007 16:36

Re: Adult Flexi Ticket

For me, it's quite clear that 'supporting the club' is not the singular reason for buying a season ticket. It works out cheaper if I attend all the games, which I probably will. Does that make me any less of a supporter, that I want value for money?
I support Accrington Stanley, always have done and always will, but does that mean the club can take my money up front and offer new deals later on which in turn devalue my purchase somewhat?
I would've been totally in favour of the offer had it arose pre-season. All I am annoyed at is the persistent lack of forethought and decent treatment of ASFC season ticket holders.
That's my opinion on the matter, it shan't change. Don't try and preach to me, telling me the 'correct way' to support my team. If you do, I'd urge you to politely get back in your respective holes.

Flexi ticket is a brilliant move but i wont be getting one as out of the remaining games i can only at best do maybe 8 or 9 because of working away from home, if this offer came up at the start of the season, say 15 Flexi tickets then i would definately get one, which is not as much money in the clubs coffers as a season ticket but it would be extra money upfront that they would not otherwise have had, i suspect that these would do quite well as oppossed to season tickets, because for those of us that either know we will miss games for whatever reason or that we cant cough up the amount of a full season ticket it would be another option.
Good move by the club.
