who will leave in january?
I could think of half a dozen who should leave in the January window, but rather than who is on there way out downwards, who is on their way out upwards?
Rommy Boco - if he has a good African Nations then that may alert one or two who realise he is out of favour here. Fortunately/Unfortunately the African cup is late on in January so it may be too late on for anybody to make a considered bid for him. Jay Harris - Must of caught the eye of at least a handful of managers in this league as he has certainly got 100% determination backed up by a good bit of still improving skill. Ian Craney - Not really ours to 'lose' but can we compete with Peterborough? Should we try to compete with Peterborough? Paul Mullin - still admired by Chester and Shrewsbury at the very least. Coleman has always said that he is a player that would be coveted by most in this league at least. Could be the big mans last chance anywhere else. Or would he prefer to stick out the rest of his career here and be granted the much deserved testimonial? Roscoe Dsane - a little bit hit and miss for Roscoe due to a couple of knocks preventing him really getting games under his belt. But in most of the games he has played he has proved that he has what it takes at this level. A tricky customer for most defenders and would do well in a team that give him plenty of service. Andy Proctor - player of the month for September would have him on a few 'to watch' lists. Has he done enough to catch the eye in following months? I can't really see anybody higher watching our defenders due to the goals shipped column doing them more of a disservice than some of them warrant. As Chairman of the club what kind of money would it take to make you part with a couple of these lads? Do we take the money (and god knows we need it) or do we learn the lessons of last year and try not to brak the team up? Who'd be a Chairman at this time of year .....:pohmy: |
Re: who will leave in january?
Think we should keep some of our good players & get rid of the effortless wasters, would like to keep Harris & Dsane tho.

Re: who will leave in january?
Did I read somewhere that Mullin's contract is up at the end of the season. Fairly sure that from Tuesday he can speak to any club without going through the usual channels of permission.

Re: who will leave in january?
We cant get rid of mully  not yet anyways!! Still one of our best team players :)

Re: who will leave in january?
We'd be knackered without Mullin. Everything goes through him, plus this season he's already scored 10 goals, which for half a season is some going. I realise that he's no spring chicken, but we'd never be able to afford to replace him.
Yet again, if Mullin is negotiating a new contract, alot will depend on how Eric treats him. If Eric does his usual thing, then I could easily see Mullin going elsewhere. |

Exactly, it proved it that match when he was injured [against MK i think] we got hammered in every way, mullys presence keeps us going. |
Re: who will leave in january?
And every year I have been watching stanley Mullin has got better and better IMO..so he is def the one player that should be hands off at any cost!!!

Re: who will leave in january?
To me Mullin is Stanley, ok he`s not as young as he was but he`s still giving it his all, which is all you can ask for, there aren`t many players i be sad to see go but Mullers would.
In reality some of our better players are always going to be targets for bigger clubs so when they do go we should already be prepared for it, but i can`t see many clubs wanting too many of the current team, yes there are a few, Harris, Boco, Procter, Mullin, but doubt that any of them will go in January. On a plus it wouldn`t surprise me to see Roberts back at the FES, and maybe Fleetwood ?, but i guess he may have his sights set higher now. We`ll be ok though as i think our posistion is such that we needent worry about relegation this season. |
Re: who will leave in january?
a mate of mine from hereford (usu reliable) has good authority that browner is off in january. couldnt blame him if he does he's never had a real run in the team

Re: who will leave in january?
I think whalley will go (and wouldnt be botherd) and i think Mcgivern will be given the chance to go on loan. Also i have a feeling that harris will be snapped up :(

Re: who will leave in january?
I know it was avery unlikely return anyway, but gillingham have put a bid in for Fleetwood.

Re: who will leave in january?
John Hartson can leave wba for free i think. 5,000 x 20 weeks 100,000 better than any striker in this or the league above in my opinion. He has always been big, but knows were the net is.
|
Re: who will leave in january?
I'd 2nd that bid especially if we do lose one of our existing strikers.
|
Re: who will leave in january?
Paul Mullin and John Hartson as strikers. What a combination that would be! It might mean even more route 1 football in one respect, but it would distract and divide central defenders - and leave huge gaps to be exploited by our advancing midfielders. Tactics!
But back to the theme of who will leave rather than who will arrive. I would not like to see Mark Roberts or Sean Webb depart. The reports clearly show that they were excellent at Mansfield. I am sure they will forge an excellent partnership in central defence. With Phil Edwards and Leam Richardson also in the back four, we could put an end to our alleged defensive frailty. |
Re: who will leave in january?
Hasn't Hartson just been awarded the CBA in the Honours List ? :rolleyz8:

Re: who will leave in january?
Mullin A January Target (from Lancashire Telegraph)
I hope Mullin does stay he is a Talisman, and epitimises everything that is good about Stanley:) One striker if we are looking who is very much in the Mullin mould is Jamie Mackie at Exeter but I would expect other clubs to be looking at him |
