Check out the link Craney Set To Resign For Stanley (from This Is Lancashire) **Edit** Your link didn't work, so I've replaced it 74/118 |
Re: Craney has he or not
spoke to craney yesterday and he was looking forward to resigning although I'm sure he was being very careful about what he said until its all signed and sealed...
he did say that he chose us over the posh and I would like to say for one it shows that money doesn't always talk :) and it shows how much he loves it (oh yeah and us) at the mighty stanley :D |

Re: Craney has he or not
I don't reckon there is a third club interested - it's a ploy to try to get Peterborough to push up their price. We won't pay diddles for him. If he wants to come back here then he will as he can just refuse everybody elses offers. A move to London would involve him selling up and renting/buying a property down that way and that will cost more than your average League 2 player is willing to pay for something that may be temporary. Also factor in that his girlfriend/wife took a job in Liverpool when he came back on loan and she wouldn't be willing to change jobs again so soon and it means the Posh personal terms offer would have to be at least double what we are likely to have offered. I know they have the brass but would they be willing?

Re: Craney has he or not
Glad that Ian's back & hope he can get back to the form that got him noticed by Swansea in the first place cos to be honest he hasn't shown it too often yet, saying that he wasn't getting games at Swansea so probably wasn't match fit at first.
I just hope paying the amount we have for him doesn't mean another player having to be sold. |

Personally, I would rather see a defender worth 85k come in (money-wise), but realistically with the amount of goals Craney scores/sets up, it'd be quite foolish not to sign him permanently at this price. Nice one all! :) Now don't go getting stupid letting our best player go. Doing so would be definite relegation. |
Re: Craney has he or not
Craney is obviously here for the long term having signed a three and a half year contract I think that he should now be made Captain
|
Re: Craney has he or not
Wey hey welcome back Ian... and yes def think Ian picked security over money. :)
But as others have said hope this doesn't pave the way for Mullin to leave :( |

I think Craney probably will be captain for 08/09, with the way things are going with Mullers :( |

Re: Craney has he or not
Welcome back Ian, great news.
Now then, all this talk of Mr Mullin going is very upsetting, if this is just a rumour, then would someone from the club please say so, it would put so many of our minds at rest you know!! |
Re: Craney has he or not
Says in the observer someone is showing an interest in him, can't understand where they got it from though because the club aint speaking to the observer anymore

Re: Craney has he or not
I think this great news and it emphasises Ian's commitment to our cause and the club's ambitions. However, like many others I feel to re-iterate the club's ambition, the club should put the fans in the picture regarding Mullin's future and do everything pheasably possible to make sure Paul remains a Stanley player.
IF this means the club has to release players such as Branch and Miles to release wage funds to accomodate rises for Craney and Mullin then the club,Ala Eric and Coley, have to grasp the nettle now and get rid (i.e. release) of such players (Branch & Miles) before we may lose our best striker who has scored so many vital goals in his time with us. The club has to realise that finding players of Paul's calibre is no mean feat and gambling by "cashing in" on Mullin's obvious value could, like many others have said, jeopardise our future. Money may talk in this instance, but surely it's better to pay a little bit more to someone who we know can do the business, than to gamble on somebody fresh (i.e a replacement for Mullin) |

Re: Craney has he or not
fantastic news. what a positive statement to send out about our club that we are able to raise a decent transfer fee for a player if the right player becomes available and it is good for the club. please please please dont follow it up by doing the unthinkable and selling our talisman our top scorer for the past 3-4 years. dont give us with one hand and take away with the other. fully agree that we need to get a few of the players who are not delivering off the wage bill as we are now carrying a premiership size squad. i would expect a few more to leave in january maybe on loan cos i cant see people wanting to buy them. all we need now is 1 or 2 centre backs and a left winger. not sure about the cav retiring comment as he is still only 26 and am sure he signed 2 years in the summer. he was having a good season till he got injured. heres hoping he comes back and has the same sort of impact as he had towards the end of last season.

Re: Craney has he or not
Wonder if Swansea are going to use the money for Craney towards another player, taken from one of todays papers;
"Gary Roberts will be offloaded by Ipswich after a fall out with Jim Magilton.Leeds and Swansea said to be interested." |
