I wouldnt get your hopes up about Rocky leaving. I love JC but his favourtism of Rocky is one of his flaws.

Awwwww spoilsport :( thats preciesely why he should be gone, breaking up is hard to do but get it done for our defence:D

Probably too much to hope that Rocky would be shown the door, but let's hope that Branch and Miles are on the list!

I hope Whalley doesnt go. Hes only a young lad learning his trade in a struggling team and he stepped up 3 levels to join us. I think people use him as a scapegoat sometimes :(. Hopefully his first goal for us on Tue will prove to be the boost he needs (something positive at least from that dreadful night) and we can see more of the Sean Whalley we saw when he first arrived, as there's no doubt he has the pace and ability to change games against tiring back lines.

Sincerely hope you're wrong about Browny and McGivern. As for the rest I couldn't give a toss. Although how do you know its these 6 for sure? Not another Accywebbers friend of an aunts mates uncles dog keeper who was talking to the groundsmans nephew was it? ;)

And if you are right. No Milesy :(

Carden has already gone on loan, Dennehy is only on loan at Stanley, McGivern has only just signed a contract until the end of the season. Brown probably will leave if he can find another club and as brench has never played for the first team he probably will be leaving.

Re: Six Players to Leave

brown was linked to a move to halifax late last year but i've heard nothing since. whalley should stay i think he could be a rough diamond. needs more starts tho or will end up as another andy mangan.

branch has to go, evil probably already gone. carden - not impressed but injury etc has meant limited opportunity. can't blame leighton if he goes still want to see him and roscoe up front together more.

Grimps 18-01-2008 12:00

why not play grant

Re: Six Players to Leave

Miles, Evil, Branch, Brown, Carden and the sixth I reckon might be Boco!

he isn't playing at all and they could probably do with him off the wage bill. I hope I'm wrong though

shakermaker 18-01-2008 12:15

Re: Six Players to Leave

Miles - self explanatory really.
Richardson - not getting the treatment he deserves. Would imagine many interested.
Brown - probably to a conference club.
Carden - permanent deal with Cambridge.
Branch - probably end up at Chester with Grant.
Boco - as with Richardson, treated like sh!te. Deserves much more. Only problem is he has hardly played so can't imagine many clubs will be lining up for him. Really hope he will stay and get his chance but I can see him being released.

dabeast 18-01-2008 12:27

Re: Six Players to Leave

i know what you mean with leam he has been our best defender in the football league and should be 1st on teamsheet but no! currently not even on bench, no mention of injury from club so why??? i too think he'll be of major interest throughout our league (despite or defensive record)

JEFF 18-01-2008 12:32

Re: Six Players to Leave

I think Richardson is on contract till the end of the season and Boco on contract till the end of next season. If that is correct then they cannot be released, but can be made available for transfer.

sparkie 18-01-2008 13:01

Re: Six Players to Leave

Any player can be released 'by mutual consent' no matter what the length of contract, as long as the club and player agree on compensation to be paid to the player, as it is usually the club that want rid not the player.

My money is on Miles, Branch, Boco, Richardson, McEvilly and Carden. Although it wouldn't surprise me to see Phil Edwards go either, he's never been given a fair chance.

Doug 18-01-2008 13:10

Re: Six Players to Leave

I love the club and like everyone else I want it to prosper and carry on up the table and achieve a play off position, not an impossible dream providing fingers are pulled out of arses and the team improves dramatically over the next few weeks. I understand that we have to change players to achieve this, but why do we have to have half hearted and often speculative press release hitting the Telegraph or Observer….

This is a peoples club, we have a web site and the means to produce a news letter, please give us real information Eric, delivered directly to the people no matter our hard it might be to swallow, at the end of the day we’re on board and with you all the way, but don’t ask us for any more money……

it was in the paper (Observer I think) this morning that he was ill on tuesday.

Re: Six Players to Leave

I for one would be sad in a way if John 'let someone else do all the work' Miles left.

We have seen flashes of his true ability, he has good vision with his passing and takes a decent set piece.

But just like Evil - his application is shocking.

Real potential that will never make it. shame.

Mcgivern is the opposite, lots of effort but lets be honest, he just hasnt been able to cut it consistently. The guy could do a good job in the conference.
A local team like Vics or Alty would love him.

I cant see to many people missing branch, carden or mcevilly.

I havent seen enough of david brown this season to judge him.

Was he ill last Saturday as well or just sick of Coley dropping him again after good form?

Are you sure you're watching the same Whalley? Pace is about the only asset he has, he has no left foot (don't forget the 'football genius' plays him as a left-winger), no ball control, a poor first touch and is far to easily dispossessed by opposition defenders. As I've said before, if this lad ever makes the grade as a professional footballer I'll plait sawdust. I'm with fc:stanley on this, get shut. Along with Branch, McEvilly, Dunbavin, McGivern and Carden.

I can't get my head round the people on this message board including McGiven in the 6 to go, he is a goalscorer who for some strange reason Coleman refuses to give a chance to.

dabeast 18-01-2008 22:28

Re: Six Players to Leave

which is why he may go! edwards and leam, for example, have proved themselves better defenfers than rocky, yet favoritism reigns supreme.

if coley doesnt like someone they will find themselves out on their ear. but if he likes them (miles, evil, rocky) they get a game against the wishes and belief of many fans.

i dont think anyone wants leighton to go, but he's not top of coleys plans and you couldnt blame the lad for wanting to go.

Allegedly. In a total of 36 league appearances for Accrington and Rochdale he has scored precisely 3 goals. A strike rate of 0.07 goals per game.

To be honest I think it is, though the stats don't actually say exactly how long he was on the pitch. You've heard the old adage, 'There are lies, damned lies and statistics.' :)
That should be League and FA Cup appearances. (33 League 3 FA Cup) to make the toal of 36.

Re: Six Players to Leave

I'm in the keep McGivern camp and Leam and Phil Edwards and Boco. As others have said McEvilly and Carden are 2, Branch, Miles make 4, Dennehy to return to Sunderland is 5 and sorry to say I think David Brown might be the 6th - but again I would prefer him to ply his trade here at Stanley as I think he has a lot to offer. The only trouble is we have a wealth of outside midfield players. I too would not be sorry to see Rocky go, he has his mind on other things at the moment. Yes he has been a good servant to the club, but no player is bigger than that club

sparkie 20-01-2008 11:28

Re: Six Players to Leave

For me the 2 that are off to Farsley, if it indeed does happen are david brown and phil edwards. Both don't get their fair chance here and both want to be playing first team football.

Re: Six Players to Leave

If six are to go they should incliude:-

1. Branch (Too old and slow)
2. Williams ( No room for mates)
3. Miles ( Lazy and lost )
4. Cavannagh (Sorry but he's injury jinxed)
5. Mcevilly (Clueless Coleys mistake twice)
6. Carden ( Another prone to injury)

4. According to an interview on Radio Lancashire last week, Coleman regards Cav as our best defender. Make of that what you will.

5. McEvilly was a roaring success when we had him last time. He scored over 20 goals that season, so I wouldn't consider him to be a mistake the first time around (not including loan spell).

I think we can consider Evil and Carden as certainly 2 of the 6, but that still leaves 4 more. I think Miles and Branch will be 2 others, but I'm not too sure of the rest. Brown must be looking elsewhere, but I'd be a little surprised if we do see 6 players leaving this month.

According to this article, we've shown an 'interest' in Craig Dawson, a 17 year old Radcliffe Borough defender: Clubs Should Take A Chance On Dawson Says Coyne (from The Bolton News).

Apparently, Coley was also involved in Thursday night's Q & A session with Mark Halsey that's mentioned in the final paragraph.

Bet that was interesting. Would Coley have questioned every answer Mark Halsey gave, laughed at him or kicked the bar :D
