Hoskins Sacked!!
Rumour as it that our only UEFA 'A' Qualified coach as been sacked by the club bearing in mind that we just recently sacked our goalkeeping coach what on earth is going on?
|
Re: Hoskins Sacked!!

Re: Hoskins Sacked!!
Was gutted when I heard about Ash Hoskins last week, he did a brilliant job when he was in charge for the game against Preston just hope we can get another decent coach in for the reserves. As for Jamo - I presume he's done his coaching badges while he's been away & one things for sure, he's a brilliant character to have around the club.
Welcome back Jamo :) |
Re: Hoskins Sacked!!
Seems strange as Jamie wouldn't sign for us full time when we were in the Conference as he had a good job in a bank. I wonder what has changed his mind. He has been playing for Colwyn Bay part-time. I hope he has got some coaching qualifications, if not it will be strange for Kenny Arthur (International goalkeeper) to be coached by Jamie Speare (Part-time non-league goalkeeper), or is it as Darwenred1968 says, jobs for the boys.
|
Re: Hoskins Sacked!!
Maybe Jamie is back on a part-time basis? Wouldn't surprise me at all. ;)

just love that word, RUMOUR has it jose mouriniho is talking over ash on a voluntary basis as he can do the hours which the club has asked |
Re: Hoskins Sacked!!
When I heard Ash was sacked last week I was disappointed. He'd proven himself to be a very good coach. Seems like disgraceful treatment of staff by the club yet again.
As for Jamo, I shall reserve judgment. Don't get me wrong it will be great to see him again, he's a great bloke. However I am skeptical as to his potential affect on the team. Firstly, Jamo never went near League football - how will he help Bavs & Ken against League Two strikers? Secondly, is it wise having yet another old mate around? The clique seems to expand every week. |
Re: Hoskins Sacked!!
if teh clique is expanding then there will be less sulkers on the periphary!!
from what I understand of goalkeeping coaches it's not just about actually teaching them things but about working with them on specifics such as the type of movement that keepers make as opposed to outfield players - such as lots of hip movements and swivels etc. |
Re: Hoskins Sacked!!
Aye fair enough Macca, hope you're right

What's the obsession with adding Ss to the end of people's surnames? First we had Mullins, now this one too.

Re: Hoskins Sacked!!
one more post then gone for a while
Ash was not sacked he was offered a position as head of the academy but felt it wouldn't suit him. Unfortunately the club cannot carry a full time reserve manager as there isnt a reserve team to coach, with it being made up of first team and youth. I clarified the position of gk coach at the forum stating that the new one had far more playing experience at a decent level. Christmas must be terrible for some on here only happy when moaning and prepared to invent things to get others to be negative. keep the faith |
Re: Hoskins Sacked!!
nice one Coley, thanks for clearing that one up.
good luck Ash with whatever comes next. |

Re: Hoskins Sacked!!
well that was a nice quick excercise in the club setting the story straight quickly.
It's kinda true that stories get invented when nowt is happening so if somebody from the club is able to clarify these matters early then it stops people adding their opinions on something that may not have fact. In saying that, as welcome as you are Coley, I don't expect you to have to come on here every day defending your actions. But there are always people from the club reading this who are able to quickly get an answer on something that prevents the vultures setting in. On Stanley On |
Re: Hoskins Sacked!!
Great to see Coley coming on here. Especially as we now know it's him and not someone just using his name. Thanks, John. That said, it's a shame to see Ash go. Games with him and Grimmy and Becky were always special. I can still remember the first time I saw Ash - playing for Burnley at Telford in the Cup, alongside a certain Mr James - and he was the only Burnley player who impressed.
Keeping the faith! 3 points on Saturday and another double. :) |

And its ok adding to someones responsibilities and already long working hours but if you have the cheek not to offer them any extra for their troubles then you have effectively sacked him stop sacking loyal members of staff who are far more qualified than yourself so as to employ your Scouse mates.:dummy2: And as jamo played at a higher level? |
Re: Hoskins Sacked!!
Jamo learnt under Neville Southall at Everton, one of the very best, who thought that much of him he played in Jamies testamonial game, as well as Jamo making the bench for Everton. I would think from this he might have obtained a fairly high standard of goalkeeping knowledge. He may also have taken coaching badges in the mean while etc. All I know is that hell be a great presence for the team and Bavs and Kenny will enjoy working with him rather then nobody.
He has also played in the league for Darlo and Bury PS: Its all well and good on a forum, but why dont you say these things to Coley in person. Hes always in the Sports Bar after the game.;) |

Our recent goalkeeping coach was doing excellent!! Hoskins was also doing extremely well and Uefa A qualified. If you criticise him you don't play for the club again.Surely when he reads the comments on here he must realise that not everyone thinks the sun shines out of his ar*e. All of the fans who dare to criticise is actions on this forum are classed as moaners, Well if being upset at paying to see your team struggle to win at home week in week out is a sin then I am a true MOANER. I do appreciate the fantastic job he as done its just he thinks of himself to be untouchable no matter how badly we play .:dummy2: |

He also stated he has no issues with people criticising, when its constructive and also admitted to making some big mistakes this season with signings etc... And he did clarify that he doesn't get rid of people when they fall out, otherwise Jimmy would've gone years ago :D but of course we can only take his word for it  |

Coley if it is you ??!! Although I think its great that you have replied on the forum and I can understand your frustration with people on it, I think its probably best not to reply to certain posts or people. The jobs hard enough without having to read some of the stuff on here sometimes, people will always have differing views and things will get personal because of it. I think what you do when you answer questions from fans in person is admirable and perhaps we could have something like it on the forum where you can answer questions we might have occasionally.

he actually said he was quite impressed that we had such an active fans forum and even accepted that there should be moans and groans when things aren't going well, but what he hated to read was factually incorrect or scaremongering posts!!

Re: Hoskins Sacked!!

However, after reading Coley's quote, I couldn't be happier. Why? The club had decided that the best use for our best-qualified coach was to head the academy set-up, rather than work with players on the edges of the first team some of which, presumably, have no long-term future at the club. That tells me that we are finally shaking off our non-league mentality of getting semi-developed players in cheap and are instead intent on developing our own. If we can be half as successful at this as some other clubs who also suffer from their catchment area (Crewe for example), the financial and playing future of the club will be bright. So, thanks for the memories, Ash and good luck for the future (club management, perhaps?) In the meantime, well done Coley and all for taking the bold step for the academy and lets hope you can get someone equally qualified to take the scheme forward. Tempted to give Coley karma for having the balls to post but (1) Don't know how and (2) might be sucking up a bit, I guess... S-d it. Karma for coley |

I was at the match once again a sack of SH*TE but never mind that debacle let me put you ARS* kissing coleman fans straight about one or two things 1. Hoskins was called in to see the boss about taking over the academy all ages to include the reserves, which would encompass him working upto 5 extra nights per week FOR NO EXTRA SALARY!!!(WOULD YOU DO IT?) I don't think so!! 2.Having been therefore told he could leave the club with immeadiate effect the genius Manager realised that they had no one to look after the reserves at carlisle and the cheeky bastar* ask him if he would still do it? 3. Can I also ask anyone if it is true that one of our management duo headbutted a carlisle player? 4. Ashley is a very accomplished coach who coaches at Burnley f.c on a part time basis of an evening which is a paid position. 5. Is it a coincidence that our goalkeeping coach was got rid of to bring in one of his mates? I have been supporting this club for a long time and not just for five minutes I am sorry that I cannot keep ars* kissing the manager who from my point of view is killing this team!!! |

This is a first visit to the fans forum and all I need to say is what an utter load of nonsense the above statement from darwenred is! Whoever is supplying you with the information darwenred is telling you a few 'porkies'. You obviously haven't really spent much time on the official website to see the tremendous development of the Youth Programme over the last 2 years and by the way have a look at the Director of Youths qualifications!!!!!! Two Youth players were on the pitch at the end of the last home game!!!!!!! Is that not the progress wanted???? John, Jimmy and all the staff work tremendously hard for Accrington Stanley and utter garbage being posted on this forum is a disservice for the club, staff and true fans. I would like to finish by asking darwenred to get his facts right before posting on the forum because he couldn'y be further from the truth.:o:enough: |

Can I ask what they are out of curiosity, I can't see them on the official site. As a Burnley fan the message board I frequent has a lot of interest in our youth team and raises a lot of money for the youth set up. ( contrary to belief I don't spend all my time on here and do frequent my own board :D) Can I ask what sort of interest people have in the youth team and COE. Does anyone off here go and watch the games on a regular basis ? No matter who we support it's always good to see the youth team players making the breakthrough, just a shame the big guns still manage to lure them away  |
Re: Hoskins Sacked!!
Ash Hopkin did a very good job.I have spoken with several of the youth team and coe and they all had good things to say but to speculate on why he has gone is just that 'speculation'.
I watched the Under 16s first game against MACC and although they lost 3-1 (the score was 1-1 when they made 5 subs) the quality of football was excellent. 3 of the under 16s have already played in youth team and 1 has had an England call up. If thats not progress i DONT KNOW WHAT IS!! I encourage you all to go watch youth and coe teams! |
Re: Hoskins Sacked!!
I'd love to watch the youth team more if I had the time, sadly I think it is for the retired people to watch these and reserve matches - not a dig just a time available type thing.
I think that for a new set-up we have got up and running with all aspects of youth work, including the FITC programme, very quickly. Doubtless it will take a couple of years before we begin to see any real effect that this will have for our club but we will have a production line soon. Hopefully we will no longer see the likes of Brett, Dunn, Holt, Chaplow, Derbyshire, Proctor etc etc etc begin their careers at other clubs and we will make a mint on sell on fees as well a couple of years good service out of them. BTW who was the England call up for? |
Re: Hoskins Sacked!!
[quote=lancsdave;526624]Can I ask what they are out of curiosity, I can't see them on the official site.
Pen pic: Phil is a highly qualified FA Advanced Licence/UEFA 'A' Coach and also a Football Association Lead Tutor and Coach Educator. He is qualified to deliver FA Coaching Awards to Level 4 as well as the FA Safeguarding Children in Football and Welfare Officer Workshops. Brought in just over 12 months ago to oversee the Youth Department, he has established the Modern Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (MASE) programme for our current crop of apprentice footballers, and his next task is to open the Accrington Stanley FC Centre of Excellence in order to provide the conveyor belt that will produce our next generation of footballers and future stars for the Club. During the Summer break Phil completed Part 1 of the Football Association Academy Managers Licence qualification further enhancing his football credentials. Copied this off the official ASFC website Page 'Under 18'. Apparently he gained his advanced licence in 1990 and the UEFA A licence in 1998. Darwenred has obviously got it wrong about staff qualifications!!!! |
Re: Hoskins Sacked!!
should'nt have sacked ashley, should have sacked coleman before he takes us down faster than the titanic.come to think of it they should have sacked half the bloody team after saturdays performance.
|
Re: Hoskins Sacked!!
Not sure! Chatted to youth team lads and they said he played for youth team and England scout approached manager as he stood out but was obviously much younger than Accy and Preston youth sides!!
