Is this poll such a good idea, as it's just an open invitation for sneering, smart-alec remarks from people who usually never even post on the Stanley section.

I,d buy it in a heartbeat IF I had the money to spare. Just as a side thought, any clue what a football club like Stanley is worth, and no smart answers or I,ll make you the ball boy!!!

If it was within my reach then yes!
But only if I thought I could take the Club forward:)

Re: would you buy stanley

I'd buy it tomorrow if I could but probably not for what is reported to be asked for.

I'd also kick the Accy Amateurs off the pitches behind the Coppice End and turn our ground around and put it over there. You could fit our ground in there twice over so plenty of room for larger concourses, shops, on-site bookies, restaurant and cafe (deffo two separate things) club shop, OSC shop, three bars etc etc.

Present ground would convert to two good quality training pitches that could be used to house the Accy Stanley (not Blackburn rent-the-name) under 9's, 11's, 13's, 15's and 18's, Ultra's and ladies football teams. There would be chargeable car parking for 500 cars around the ground (easily).

etc, etc but I always forget to play and Mrs Macca would probably tell me no anyways.

Now Now Wynonie

Not every one can stand football. Myself I cant see the point, all them blokes chasing a ball, which no one ever has for more than a second at a time, and if it goes between two upright bits of wood, everyone starts fighting. What the LL does it matter. Tell me in 100 years time.

Re: would you buy stanley

I would only value the club at £800,000.
Without league 2 football and the revenue streams only £500,000.

If I had £4,000,000 - i reckon you could buy it at that price and continue the success with some stringent measures. A 'none saturday service' is what is most lacking IMO to bring in other revenue funds, a new stand would be required - but in the current ground footprint, it would be difficult to achieve.

Re: would you buy stanley

It'd probably be in the contract of sale that you have to take Eric Whalley too, if you bought the club. So no, I wouldn't buy it. :D

Reminds you of the old joke. My dad asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I told him a cowboy outfit, so he bought me Accrington Stanley.

Well... If I win that nice £95-million EuroLotto thing tonight, I will fer sure...

But given that the chances of me winning that are something like 78-million to one against...

:)

Re: would you buy stanley

No i wouldnt buy it - for simple reason i wouldnt want the responsibility of running a football club. I'd donate a million but never buy it mainly because i dont know anything about running a football club. Leave it to the people who know about running one. And before you say well you get someone in to run it for you - you have to make the decision for the right person for the club and get it wrong and everything would hit the fan. Just think of all the hassle you get for getting it wrong.

Spug says he'd buy it.

Nickelson 08-02-2008 15:51

Re: would you buy stanley

no bad investments are football clubs so no i wouldnt as it would go to ruin the club when the funds ran out.

To answer the question yes if i could get a consortium together, my estimation of the club is as follows.

Stands and surrounding facilities £200,000 (we dont own the pitch)
Playing squad £250,000
Brand name and football league status £250,000

£700,000

I'm happy to be shot at here (but dont hang me) as it is only a guestimate... what do you value the club at ???

is there not a kinda rough rule that is followed when valuating a business? summat like three times the GP + sav + assets? as I didn't acquire the £95m last night I formally withdraw my tentative offer.

Re: would you buy stanley

i would love to own a football club, and Stanley would certainly be a top choice :D

but id only do it if i really had a lot of money, cuz im not sure if lower league footie is a lucrative business (obviously id get us into the Premier League, as our older cousin Accrington FC is a foot league founder and we have the right to be there :D). but for my passion for footie and Stanley, be a club owner would be like a dream!
