Well, I've finally done it.....
walk off before the end of a game!!
In 50+ years of watching football, it's something I've never done before!! After the first half tonight, I considered us to be 'unlucky' to be trailing by the odd goal. But then, who comes out fighting in the second half? OK, we had chances, & , perhaps, with a little bit of luck, we could have been in front..... but, how demorilising it must be for our attack, who kept plugging away, to see our defence concede such soft goals? I left immediately after their third, (15 mins before end?), & I'm not even going to switch on Sky Sports to see if we managed to get four in last 15 mins!! I'll watch 'Mistresses' with the missus!! |
Re: Well, I've finally done it.....
im the same, absoutely abysmal, Coleman has taken us as far as we can go ive had enough
|
Re: Well, I've finally done it.....
Coleman isn't going anywhere and we all know it. However, it must be time for him to admit that he can't coach a defence. All the crap at the forum about being 'poacher turned gamekeeper' isn't convincing anyone. We haven't had a good defence in years!!
Tonight was the usual groundhog day. Same goals conceded time and time again (unmarked players at back post). I will say one thing though, if Dunbavin hasn't given way to Arthur on Saturday then there is something seriously wrong. |
Re: Well, I've finally done it.....
And I have never been closer to doing it. Only my mate nearly having to pull me back stopped me. What a shambles. We made at least four clear scoring opportunities in the first half and squandered the lot by crap shooting. Absolutely diabolical from Coley not to make any substitutions at all, or did I miss something? What's the matter with him? Unbelievable.

Re: Well, I've finally done it.....
I honestly havn't a clue what your on about.
Today Stanley played football and good football at that. How the scoreline wasn't the other way round I cannot fathom. Other than the fact the linesman closest to coppice terrace needs to learn the rules of the game, but for him giving an obvious throw in the wrong way, they wouldn't have got the first goal and it would have been a completely different storyline. We dominated the game completely and sure, we made a couple of defensive errors but bloody hell, the two centre backs have been at the club for no longer than a month, first time they've played together and I'm not sure but Doughty's first start(even game ?). |

We have a good squad, but they really don't work together.... did you notice tonight, how Dumbo didn't seem to shout enough? & what are his kicks all about? Think we should take a leaf out of SVG's book, when he bans keeper from long kicks, & ensures he passes to one of his own.... not rocket science, surely? |

Sure we looked ok at times going forward, but we will always concede at the back. |

Re: Well, I've finally done it.....
i thought tonights game was sureal,i thought the midfield played industrious in the first half then fell away in the second half and then we just started to punt the ball up to their half with no affect.lincoln just did the simple thing with drawing the defenders away and an extra player coming through the channels.they were awful sometimes it just shows we should take our chances we need to sign a goal poacher who will always be in the box too many times again our strikers were on the wing when they should have been in the box:hidewall:. i think if we can get somebody who can finish in the box we will do a lot better.... the defence for some reason is always predictable whoever plays they are always drawn away when the opposition attack and the opposition always have a spare player coming through leaving the goalie exposed to a one on one situation one plus point tonight there seemed to be less ball watching.....a well theres always brentford on saturday...

Re: Well, I've finally done it.....
and to add there was a couple of improved performances but all the way up to defence we never defended as a unit theres no point putting good tackles in when there is no back up ,like defend as a unit ,like tackle theres a loose ball and nobody is there to win the second ball a well my wingins over now.im off to watch espn classics:rolleyes: lets hope we have an improved defensive performance on saturday...

Re: Well, I've finally done it.....
Dumbavin wasn't any use when we took him as emergency cover once and was the same when he was sent to Halifax
how he's got into a side like yours is beyond me, you deserve far better! |
Re: Well, I've finally done it.....
I thought that Lincoln got their tatics spot on. Held a high line, passed the ball accurately to feet, broke well and quickly and defended very tightly. After the second goal I just felt flat and had no enthusiasm. I presume this is how the players feel. I however wasted £13

Hey, and do you think I've wasted a season ticket?? |
Re: Well, I've finally done it.....
Where was Mannix??

Re: Well, I've finally done it.....
Oops sorry, I wasted another £13:(

Can honestly say they tried this match & put the effort in {hence i stayed till end** just no such luck nor communication as a team other than individual players abilities. MOM well i couldnt think of one that stood out, but as it happens Jay Harris got it. Yes the ref was a banker as was his liner on cowshed side, im sure they went home on lincolns coach:rolleyes: |

What has Mark King done wrong??
Ive seen him play 3 times and has been brill!! If we can leave him and mannix out we must have sneaked into League1 without me noticing!! |

Re: Well, I've finally done it.....
We were very good in the 1st half, lots of wide play for a change and really dominated and were genuinley unlucky to go in at the break trailing. However at half time Lincoln's manager had obviously analised the 1st half and changed the formation to take todd out of the game. Also the same manager had seen our weakeness and instead of holding out for 0-1 sent on a giant striker. And we all know what happened after that.
2 questions for you. Why were we not capable of counteracting this and seriously does anybody connected to the club have opposition teams watched to see where there strengths and weakness's are? |
Re: Well, I've finally done it.....
A lot better effort last night:)
But still the same old story at the back no matter how much we chop and change, the holding midfielder in front of the back four has to be Mannix:confused: Still need a Striker up front who can play off Mullin (goals scored could yet cost us) we are really down to the bare bones in that area:confused: |
Re: Well, I've finally done it.....
Can't honestly say anyone played badly last night - trouble was they weren't playing together! Started off fine, actually passing the ball on the floor and getting forward, then we went back to big punt up field & head tennis.
The second half performance at Chester on Saturday, while not being the prettiest - worked, and yet the whole line up changed for last night. Towards the end some of the lads were visibly knackered (particularly Toddy) but did Coley put any fresh legs on - did he hell as like, just chose to sit on the wall of the dugout looking like he didn't give a damn & used his usual people skills when questioned by a fan. Frustrating or what! |
Re: Well, I've finally done it.....
For weeks (no, months|) I have been saying that Dunbavin just isn't good enough, but only now one or two people seem to be seeing it. He makes a super save (which he does from time to time, because he is a good shot-stopper) and everyone hails him as the best thing since sliced bread. However, as TM and others rightly say, his all-round goalkeeping skills are abysmal. He has NO command of his area, is useless in the air, puts the wind up his defence, who, lets face it, are shaky to start with, he can't kick, his spell in the side last year coincided with our worst spell of the season, as indeed it has again this year; yet he's still in the side every week and Kenny is on the bench. As I've said many times before, Shrewsbury, Morecambe, Halifax, Scarborough et al. can't all be wrong. He maybe would find his level if he went and joined Lutel in his Sunday morning pub side in Leeds. No, sorry, they'd soon find out he's not good enough!

Re: Well, I've finally done it.....
todd took himself out the game cos he worked tirelessly in the first half. as usual he had nothing left for the last 25 mins. he needs to conserve his energy a bit better or make sure we are 3 up when the petrol light comes on

Re: Well, I've finally done it.....
I left with my son after the second goal , worse then watching Chorleys defence

Re: Well, I've finally done it.....
Well, I've ressurected this thread, rather than start another, because I think all the posters, especially myself, need reminding of our comments from a couple of weeks ago.
I posted initially, through disappointment, and, having had time to reconsider, I know I was a touch hasty with my comments 2 weeks ago. I feel 100% different after last night, was this the same team I was watching? (not exactly, man for man, but you know what I mean!) Everyone who played was just immense! Special comments for Mangy, in 1st half he was all over the place, causing so much discomfort to their defence..... when he bulks up just a little more, & can last 90mins, he will be worth much more than Div2, presuming the scouting system is still in place in England! As for the second half, any one of the team are welcome to walk my dog..... they proved, at long last, that they can hold on to a lead!!(the old ones are the best!!) Suffice to say, I am a much happier man than I was 2 weeks ago, there are enough posts on here saying how good we were last night, & I agree with them all! What a performance, from an all round team/squad, it's one of those games that I was priveliged to watch, all the way to the final whistle!! And, I promise, never again to leave before the end!! |
