Marsden Trophey final
How did it end? What was the score??
|
Re: Marsden Trophey final
Lost 2-1 on the night, 3-1 on aggregate. 2 sent off. Would have stood a better chance if the supporters team had been playing.

Re: Marsden Trophey final
I only saw Morecambe score 2 goals tonight, but I did see Prendergast commit a terrible foul. A red card was too good for him.

Re: Marsden Trophey final
Where did the extra goal come from Sweety ? :)
Tell you what though.. My arms are aching and I am ready for this pint I have in front of me.. the fans certainly did there bit with a non stop "red and white army" chant for over half an hour. It beat the one we did at Gateshead last season in my opinion... Losing 1-5 no one could quite figure us out up there.. But tonight it was ...well ... If we got the crowd going like that every game it would be summat.. Hold your head up high everyone who went... Top stuff . |
Re: Marsden Trophey final
Who else got sent off as well as Prendergast?
|
Re: Marsden Trophey final
I had a great time tonight, the support was excellent...!
:bow8: :bow8: "SuperAccyStan" Deano was the other player sent off, He hadn't been on long, didn't see why he got red carded but Dave Perkins (I think)was sent off as well!! |
Re: Marsden Trophey final
Sorry KIPAX. You're right about the fans though.
|
Re: Marsden Trophey final
It was either Dave Perkins or Shirley Temple. It was hard to tell from where I was stood.

Perkins was sent off for Morecambe, but could have avoided that if he hadn't got involved in a brawl. |
Re: Marsden Trophey final
Prendergast was outstanding
Man of the match by far for me What will his sending off cost us though?????? When we started red/white, blue/white ARMY chants we got two sent off ????? did we get the players going much??? It was great though :) the stewards in front of us were papping their pants :) If we did that at home we would scare some visiting players ;) :) |
Re: Marsden Trophey final
so the ban starts in 14 days?, just miss exeter? and start of next season?
|
Re: Marsden Trophey final
To me the lads looked absolutely knackered last night, the ref didn't help & how any Morecambe fans can call Rory a cheat when some of their lot were going down like Italians I don't know. Despite the result I really enjoyed the night - let's hope they can pick theirselves up for Thursday & get a result at Telford.

Re: Marsden Trophey final
At least we didn't get any more defenders sent off. We had to buy some more when that last happened.

I have been on here a few times and regularly find that you accuse the other side of diving. It sort of speaks for itself 15 sendings off this season, wouldn't you agree? Surely no coincidence or 15 coincidences? Anyway, I do actually wish you good luck. Your fans were superb and were a credit to your club. |
Re: Marsden Trophey final
My take on the first 2 sendings off were that they could have been avoided.
The referee, in my opinion, could have sorted out the trouble that was brewing before it blew up. Having said that, both Calcutt and Perkins had to go once it had erupted. The Prendergast incident was ridiculous and soured the evening even further. No Stanley fan can defend his actions and blaming the referee isn't an option. If I was Eric I'd make him pay the next FA fine that must surely now be pending. :( |
Re: Marsden Trophey final
what happened though? only one out of a pittiful 6 or 7 of rory's crosses were half decent, and no one was there to even collect that never mind meet it first time, lutel had an absolutely shocking game, his 'showboating' killed off most of our attacks. At least when The Gouck came on for 10 minutes or so he gave the team a short-lived lift. I thought Kempson had an OK game, and so did Cav (except for the second goal incedent)
Coley has to field a more tactical midfield, it didn't look like there was any sort of positioning in the midfield in either leg, playing 3 centre midfielders!!??? proccy looks nakered, so does cooky. I think Fitzgerald has filled a position, however has failed to impress with needless clearances out of play. I think there was a total lack of simple football and communication in the defence, which I think Morecambe exploited. Oh well, LDV Vans next year anyway . . . |

Re: Marsden Trophey final
I really enjoyed the game on Tuesday night and both sets of fans sang their hearts out... the atmosphere was great too and of course the result was bloody brilliant!. No wonder you lot are 2nd in the foul play league! Can't wait to hammer you a bit more next season.

Re: Marsden Trophey final
I wasn't defending Rory for what he did on Tuesday, he deserved sending off for that, I just meant he is sometimes accused of cheating (as happened before the match) when he hasn't actually done anything.

Re: Marsden Trophey final
He dives a lot if that's what you mean
