big defender

i posted a thread a few days ago saying we need a big guy at the back like most teams have in this league , you all laughed and mocked me but what is that i read in the telegraph today ! jimmy bell saying " what we're missing is a big centre half . every team in the league seems to have one and we really need one ." i rest my case .

i agree with you (and all your other posts) i think it is very unfair of other people on this forum to keep having a go at you, and now i see the moderators have started locking threads witch you have started, or have had your say about, please keep posting as you are one of the few people that talk any sense on here.

no the reason his threads have been locked is that he keeps starting similar threads..also as he has stated in his first post, that he posted about this not long ago, so why didn't he just add the above comment to that thread rather than starting another???????

We lost two goals to attackers running through the middle too fast for our center halves (Again) and one from a corner where the man on the post left his station again (That's the umpteenth time this season). When will they learn? Stay there till the ball has been cleared.

Depeche mode you keep posting what you feel, You have a right to post what ever you want on this forum! The problem with this site is if you say something that upsets the ever decreasing Coleman bandwagon then they will try to censure your comments fair enough if you upset someone like I did then expect a rollocking and threats but there a too many people on this site who start the most pathetic/childish threads who are they to call you and try to stop them. Coleman lovers better wake up and realise not everbody loves the manager especially someone who has a go at the fans all the time.
And one final thing LOWEIY change the record we all know you are in love with coleman your diatribe that you write in the telegraph makes people want to puke, We have dwindling attendances we are in free fall down the league table its no wonder people want to have a go at the manager you get it at every failing club in the country.
Whilst we did play quite well against Lincoln our strikers looked like they couldn't score in amsterdam never mind on the pitch. FANS wether they have been coming for years or not have a right to voice their opinions and shouldn't be preached to by dilusional fans still living in the past glories of a Manager who at any other club in the country with his track record over the past two seaons would have had a size 9 up his backside and a P45 to boot. A Big Defender who doesn't 'clear the ball...no Hassle'...but one who can also pass the ball to a midfielder...or a Forward..and hopefully create an opportunity to achieve what we all crave for so much...A GOAL !! (for the Reds that is!).

Just thought that I'd inject a little sanity into the enthralling badinage that is being bandied around this 'going nowhere' thread....before it gets locked...and it will !!

Or does all this witty repartee indicate that Depechemode et al have no more thoughts on the subject...a very subtle ploy indeed!.

Re: big defender

It's not a question of whether or not people on the forum agree or disagree with the points that Depeche Mode is making. Like Harwood Red said its more about keep starting new threads about the same thing. Whilst you are perfectly entitled to your opinion (and that makes for good debate), you have to try to keep things together or else the whole forum just goes tits up if everybody makes new threads about the same thing rather than adding to an existing one.

When you log on at teatime after a days work and there are 15 new threads that you haven't read yet you start to plough through - then you find that the same thing is being said over and over. It's boring.

Many people agree with you that Coley has had his time, but many people also disagree. Instead of generating a thread where you might get 30 replies which may or may not be constructive, you ended up with 10 threads with 3 replies assuming that you were just a trouble maker here to wind everyone up - hence the negative karma.

As a long standing fan who remembers the good old (bad old?) days traipsing around the NPL you'll be a welcome and knowledgeable addition to the forum, but please observe the basic etiquette of this (or any) forum.

Yes, you were right about needing a big commanding centre half but then again we've needed one for years! Coley and Bell admitted as much at the forum a few weeks ago. They stopped just short of saying that Roberts and Webb hadn't been the additions that they expected them to be but did admit that recent transfers had been disappointing in general.

As for Brnach.... not my cup of tea at all but he looks comfier as part of a central trio/duo than he did at left back

We were all thinking and posting long before you turned up. You're not saying anything new or posting any ideas that we haven't heard before. I'd suggest reading some previous threads before posting more of the same, then perhaps people would consider your 'opinion' worth reading.

Coleman is under pressure and we all know that. We just don't want to read the same thing over and over and over again.

When I read this comment in't Telegraph , I thought to myself..'I hope that the reporter has got this all wrong'....they sometimes do you know!

But presuming that Jimmy Bell would have had an opportunity to correct this questionable statement....we must conclude that this is his honest opinion!.

If so, this sort of comment, as Redraine rightly says, will not only act as a demotivating influence on the other 'Defenders' in the Squad...but could also undermine what little bit of goodwill remains amongst the Supporters !
It might also sharpen the edges of the daggers waiting to be plunged into the backs of the Management team as a whole !.

So...if either JC or JB feel it necessary to issuesuch statements to the media...then perhaps a little forethought...rather than knee-jerking should be behind them!.

I'm going to take some stick now!!!...by saying that I thought that Lowey's
column in the same edition was as appropriate and near the mark as it has been for some time...there I've said it!

ON STANLEY !....ON!!!!.

Ok, seriously, give it a rest. Coley has done so much for this Club, you have such a short memory, you really do. He WILL keep us up AGAIN. Agreed Diesel!.....This thread is hopefully about BIG DEFENDERS and Michael Walch as well!...BUT they all lead back to someone returning to the usual critique of the Manager(s) and how they should be terminated !..and it is BORING ! and in last night's 'Telegraph', Lowey made some very interesting observations regarding FAN loyalties...which is surely what is needed at this
moment in time!.

So, despite all he's done, we should boot him out at the first sign of hardship? He deserves a chance after everything he's done. He is good enough to manage at this level. The Club itself is the one struggling at this level. Coley does very bloody well on limited resources.

Nice bloke, just wasn't good enough. There were games that were embarrassing to watch e.g. Rochdale away.

To be fair, the whole team were embarrasing that day :o

our defence is embarrasing now . Welch needed to lose a few pounds , i though McEvill was his twin when he came at the start of season .

There's a SENSIBLE 'Defence' thread being pursued under..Mangys Back.

No slagging off of players who have no connection with the current squad...
just a few honest attempts to identify, as fans often do!...where any 'embarassments' have their beginnings...and,as fans never quite seem to manage, how they can be cured!!.

Wow!! If Coleman would have read this forum more often and taken our advice instead of storming off in a hissy fit, he might have come to this conclusion earlier. ;) :D

:rolleyes:mmmmmmmmmmmm the penalty that was'nt i remember it well and was he the only one to have a bad game `no'.bury away this season comes to mind:rolleyes::)

That game stood out for me, but there were countless others. Welchy had no pace and that's what's done us time and again.

Why harbour sentiments (other than nostalgic ones) for a player that wasn't good enough for this level?

i wish you luck as always however you will stay up and then its up to the board if they wish to move the club forward.

Re: big defender

Ernie, you are a top fella, Micheal is an top player (IMHO)

The level he can currently play at is open for discussion. Here at Accy the composition of the squad is the sole responsibility of the management.

:confused:However could you clarify your comment "it is up to the board to take the club forward"??

Again IMHO the board spend countless hours of every week driving the club forward, which I believe is a superb effort on around 1200 magnicent home fans in League 2. Yes we need to increase the fan base, but until the form at home improves is becoming increasingly difficult.

Any ideas/ suggestions are always welcome:)

But Michael Welch...who had good games and who made a few errors in his time....and who is a 'top fella'....has No connection with the current scene at the FES whatsoever,

Which, if you think about it, makes all these postings which either praise him or villify him, totally meaningless, and add nothing to the on-going debate regarding potential weaknesses existing in 'the Reds' Defence, and
opinions which might rectify these!.

Glad to hear from elsewhere that a signing, with the strengthening of our Defence in mind, is imminent !!.

He wasn't dropped, he's been injured since the Peterborough game but at least maybe now some of the Rocky knockers may have realised it wasn't always his fault

what i meant in my comments were i think you have enough in your locker to keep your place in the football league this season, and i am totally in agreement that the board work extremley hard to drive the club forward.for next season and future seasons the board are the people who can carry on working hard to stay in league two ,with maybe a good cup run now and then,or try and move it forward by bringing in fresh investors to try and create a bigger club ,anyway enough from me i'm sure it will work its self out .lets hope you start by getting a result tonight
