Re: mannix

After questioning his ability in an earlier post I have to say that he looked the business last night. He was fired up and more aggressive right from the first whistle and was a big factor in our win. With Jay Harris also firing it looks like our "engine room" could be sorted. One of the best moments was when Jay executed some brilliant footwork to slalom past 3 of their players in the second half. Just like watching Brazil, that bit!
Mangan coming on seemed to galvanise Shaun Whalley too, and they both looked dynamite, with Shaun looking good when he attacked from a more central position than usual, not sliding away across the face of their defence. I thought Morecambe looked good throughout, and just wonder if we would have come back if Blinkhorn hadn't missed his golden chance in the first half. With our newly rediscovered spirit, though, anything is possible.

Telegraph said he was dissapointingly quiet last night but I thought he looked tidy. In the position he plays in, if you dont notice him it probably means hes done an effective job.

And that's exactly what he did Alvin !......t'Telegraph's Player Rating System
(as they call it!) really does leave much to be desired, and should not be taken too seriously !.

Whilst I don't like to see any player injured I'm afraid I don't share your sorrow to see him leave the pitch. Apart from his lucky 25 yd. strike the other week what has he contributed to the team since his return? They certainly played better without him yesterday. Get rid of Craney and Shaun Whalley and there's the makings of a half decent team.

As I said on the other thread, we improved after Craney left the field because he isn't a striker and he was played out of position. We are much better when we play Craney in midfield and have another striker up front with Mullin.

There is a lot more to the Desane story than meets the eye, but we have missed him because he supported Mullin and played off him. Mangan did a similar sort of job last night, which is why we looked better all over the field in the second half.

The couple of times I have noticed Torquay Roscoe has come on as a sub.

seems true enough to me. Hit it in the air every 30 seconds and you invite trouble when you play bigger sides (about 18 of e,)
