Definitely. Proper Accy v Morecambe game. It did lack some good old Calcutt kung fu but I suppose that's permissible.

What a night! How much deed we need that win...

Man of the match for me - Phil Edwards. Kempson also played very well.

Sean Webb had a stinker! He can't keep his hands off the opposition, very surprised he didn't get booked. Aswad was crap again, though showed some good play when moving forward. Too lazy for too much of the game though.
The negatives are much easier to live with when you've got three points in the bag though :D

Mannix showed some superb play. Hope he keeps improving the way he is doing.

Come on Accy :D:D:D

what a game and what a night! 3 points and the double over one of our nearest rivals. Wish I could go to Rochdale now, but work comes first - what a bummer. will also miss the MK Dons game for same reason - jeez reminder for next season, must book off work when stanley are playing. Sorry JC maybe I was wrong about your tactics - You have got them spot on tonight now lets make in 3 on the bounce for the first time please. P.S. thought Alan Wiley got it wrong with Whalley, tried going through 2 players and got tripped - should have been a penalty. Prem refs they are as bad as league 2 refs

Tin Monkey 13-03-2008 05:38

Re: Morecambe Game

I actually thought Coleman got it wrong last night. Whenever we play with Craney as a 'floating striker' we never seem to combine or create very much. We are far more effective when we have 2 proper strikers and Craney in midfield and I knew we were in for a long night when I saw that combination before the game.

Although it was a shame that Craney was injured, we actually started to play football in the second half. Instead of the big boot up to Mullin all the time (which Artell and Bentley mopped up all night), we started to pass through midfield and run at the Morecambe back line. It meant that we could hold onto the ball and maintain pressure, which we never did in the first half and constantly gave up possession far too easily.

This isn't meant as a criticism of Coleman, but I do wonder if things would have changed in the way they did if Craney hadn't have been injured? Sometimes things can conspire in our favour.

depechemode 13-03-2008 06:04

good game but every1 uped their game when craney went off . craney should stick to midfield . whalley had a poor first half but made up in second . roll on rochdale .

You just about edged it last night, so no complaints from me other than the constant moaning at the referee from JC. He's doing nobody any favours there.

However, how can you survive as a club who want to go places on a gate of 1400? 350 of which were made up of MFC supporters, both behind the goals, in the stand and down part of the side.

Your gates are now considerably less than your days in the Uni Bond and the Conf.

Does your village actually want a football league club?

*esus...don't make it any worse than it is.

Seriously I know that the wonderful EW is Mr Accy Stanley through and through, but even he must question from time to time wether it's all worth it.

The financial muscle of some of the teams in the league make clubs like ours very much the poor relations. Even our recent bids totalling £310,000 were not enough to secure the services of 2 players both with clubs in our league. And even though that money and more is avaialble to our manager this close season to re-build the team it begs the question are the over inflated fees of Championship players now filtering down to our basement level?

maccawozzagod 13-03-2008 08:59

Re: Morecambe Game

I think that we can be justifiably proud of what we acheive with little or no financial muscle. I'd love to see what we could do if we had a rich benefactor looming on the horizon ....;)

but back to last night, when we played at you gaffe earlier this season I thought our away following was pathetic ...until last night

However, how can you survive as a club who want to go places on a gate of 1400? 350 of which were made up of MFC supporters, both behind the goals, in the stand and down part of the side.

Your gates are now considerably less than your days in the Uni Bond and the Conf.

Does your village actually want a football league club?

But the one that we have can. it would appear, take Morecambe.F.C. to the cleaners whenever they feel like it. t'Stanley gave you a Footballing lesson at Christie Park, and last night found the right shape and the right spirit, as the game went on, to nullify Twissy and Co and put the wind up
Jim Bentley and his panicky defence!.

As for the 'Morecambe Travelling Faithful', either they began to suffer from
Coppice End Exposure, or just accepted that our 'Reds' were better than your 'Reds' on the night !...The evidence being that after Andy Mangan's goal, there was nothing but a deafening silence to be heard from the Coppice End and the Pit!....and, as you know, the Ultras and our Faithful few, never stop singing until well after the final whistle blows. This contrast must tell you something about the quality of the respective fan base !. But then we are 'the Club that would not die!'

So, I'm glad to see that you accept last night' result, as the right one,
however grudgingly it seemed to appear!.

Good luck to 'the Shrimps'...Hope they make the play-offs !....

'WHAT ME WORRY ?' 'ON STANLEY !...ON !' (To Rochdale!).

Got to agree with Tin Monkey on this one, we weren't really working until Craney had to go off, Ian's no striker and he'd probably be the first to say so. Having said that, the lads battled well in the 2nd half & fully deserved the win and although I wasn't exactly struck on the idea of Kempson coming back I have to admit he played well last night. Chuffed to bits that Mully scored, bring on the Dale :)

i was glad to see webb back inteam . he had a decent game but defence still looked nervous . on kemp , am still undecided about him but last night looked solid and didnt mess about with ball but seemed to blame every one else when morecambe went close or scored . needs to gee every 1 up not slag um off . good game though low crowd , weather played apart in that i think . liked to have seen toddy on for a bit last night but we won so lets see it continue at spotland on sunday . see you there

Depeche!!!.....This is a straightforward and relevant posting, and if no one else will congratulate you on it's contents and style, then I will!!

Sean Webb appeared to find it difficult getting off the ground for high balls and you could see his frustration at losing out on 50/50 challenges !. His work on the ground though was good, and he used the ball a lot better when making clearances. Darren Kempson did what he does best...STOP 'EM !..and it worked, as 'Twissy's' involvement in the game fizzled into nothing as the second half went on!.
But what about Aswad's tireless running, tackling and passing ?.
He's got a good 'engine' and no mistake!..Hope we can keep hold of him!

Can't make Rochdale !...but I look forward to your thoughts on the game !
( and leave Coley alone!!)

It certainly is. It needs to be more widely appreciated.
