It sounds like the temporary stand idea has been abandoned. the 100k cost of it would be wasted money.

Phew! Least one thing for the modern stanley is learnt lessons from the past, getting a decent stand to start with rather than trying to shave costs in order to be a huge cost.

There is money available towards it from the football foundation as long as they can jump through hoops and perform countless party tricks to satisfy the bureacrats

Out of curiosity does anyone know what planning restrictions are in place round that side now that houses have been built there ?

could stick a bar in the away end where the dressing rooms are now for away fans .plus that means there could be two rooms for hire.or maybe turn it into a youth club and brainwash all the youth from around the surrounding area to support stanley:D:Dforward thinking;):D

There's a lot of lgic in that. The more facilites that are available to the local community the more support there's likely to be when paying for it all :)

Although to quote Rob Heys, from Accy Observer, "It is hard as we don't need it, the fans don't want it, but it is a Football League rule - you have to have 2,000 covered seats, so we need 1,000 more."

I'll certainly miss the cowshed, and I won't be sitting down to watch.

Surely the club will have to use new seating to maximise revenue from away support? Wait for the plans, I suppose.

maccawozzagod 21-03-2008 02:42

Re: new stand ......

I don't want away fans to have the new stand if the players are gonna run out of the middle of it. It defies logic now that our players and the officials are allowed to walk towards the away fans at full time let alone incorporating that into any new designs. But I also wouldn't want them to have the existing main stand with bar facilities!

and I dont reckon they should have a goal end either!

The changing rooms should be as near to the Clayton End as possible if only for parking ease for the players. Then give the away fans the last quarter of the new stand if necessary and the corner towards the manky toilets!

Anyway, come August Oggy and you'll be homeless!

You'd better budge up. :)

You're making it sound very welcoming for away fans, maybe you should be a greeter.

Like Oggy, although all this new stand stuff is very exciting, I am concerned about where I'm going to stand when it all happens.
I don't know anywhere else to go. Maybe I'll end up getting lost and find myself on the Darwen End? ;)

Do you know, I have a Jock In The Box in the loft? It's exactly the same as the one in your picture. Do they still make them? Mine must be 30 years old.

Re: new stand ......

The whole idea sounds very interesting. With changing rooms underneath, and I assume toilets and retail outlets for burgers etc, possibility of putting in corporate boxes and the new control room for Mick (keep the Livingstone Roaders quiet at least), maybe there are exciting times ahead. If they are only putting in 1,000 seats then maybe there will be some terracing towards the front of the new stand for Oggy and TM to stand on. I wait with baited breath to see the design that is put forward. From reading into the story we have money which we could get from the Football League (or whichever body it is) but do we not also have planning permission anyway, so the housing behind should not really be affected because when they were built, I am certain the club had the necessary planning permission in then, so it would have had to be mentioned on any deals the local residents made.

they were looking to re-site the offices into the new stand too!

Are they allowed to build new stands that aren't all-seater now ?

Don't know but it could mean that those kids who watch the games from their trampoline in one of the gardens will have to jump that much higher

Yes. Looking at the image it almost names itself. Let's call it "the New Cow Shed".

I would rather sit in lada and know I had a scubbie engine under the hud then have a good paint job.

I would like to see it spent on the players
