A interesting idea for next season maybe
We all know the club is going to struggle, each season with the limited resources, and home attendances only averaging 1300, 1400, however ive thought of an idea which could attract alot more fans to come to the f.e.s.
What i'm suggesting for next season, is that for every goal we score, every home fan gets a pound back, all the club would need to do is give every home fan a slip and they hand it in, at the following home game, so say we win 2 - 0, then instead of paying £13, it would be £11.So if it attracts 1000 more people to come to the f.e.s then thats an extra £10000 - £13000 just on gate receipts, plus you have all refreshments, prize draws etc.I think if it was to be done right then it could become a big success, not only for the club bringing in alot more money, but for everyone associated with the club.I feel it would make it alot more exciting. I just think its a really interesting idea, which the club could look at, what does everyone think. |
Re: A interesting idea for next season maybe
How would that work for Season Ticket Holders:confused:
|
Re: A interesting idea for next season maybe
Hopeing for a free game:
Stanley 13 Morcambe 0 :) Its an alright idea , but dont think it would get more people in tbh and wouldnt work! :) |
Re: A interesting idea for next season maybe
Would be a better idea if they gave you £1 for every goal the oppostition scores. Watch Coley sort that defence out then :)
|
Re: A interesting idea for next season maybe
I agree there would have to be alot of thought given to season ticket holders, what I would suggest would be at the end of the season the club works out the difference, and either sends the person a cheque, or the following season the season ticket is reduced, on goals scored on the last season, i'm sure that if the media got involved and it was advertised properly, it would generate alot of interest.

Re: A interesting idea for next season maybe
it would certainly be unique!
I prefer the idea of a quid for every goal we concede as that way it seems like the club are reimbursing you for having watch dross! if we play well and score four goals then why should you get money back? I like it |
Re: A interesting idea for next season maybe
Yeah I know what you mean but its not sending out the right message, nobody wants to see their team lose, with abit of luck if we can get off to a good start next season, and keep pace with the chasing pack, then this wld definately benefit us, we win together,we lose together, we get off to a good start next season then who know's what cld happen, by attracting more fans which i think this wld, will create a real a real buzz around the club, and will have a definite impact on the team, i'm sure.

Re: A interesting idea for next season maybe
What would happen though if you cant get to the next game - due to illness, holidays work commitments etc?
|
Re: A interesting idea for next season maybe
I agree with Macca and StanleyMad that if it was to be introduced then it should work on the goals we concede.
shillelagh Re: A interesting idea for next season maybe <hr> What would happen though if you cant get to the next game - due to illness, holidays work commitments etc? I think that you would just have to grin and bear it :), the idea will never be put into practise but if it was, it would soon get complicated if it didn`t count for the next match only, unless they let you use your vouchers together so you could save them up and every other game you could get in for free . |
Re: A interesting idea for next season maybe
A few more ideas to maybe increase match day revenue & increase support:
Encourage people to arrive earlier at the ground for walk on's by knocking a £1 or £2 off the admission price if they are they are through the turnstiles an hour before the game Offer up a discount on food & drink bought an hour before kick off Have a loyalty card that could be used in various shops in Accy, online shopping, banking etc where the Club gets a kick back and the customer gets points on their card that could then be used for purchases of free tickets, discounts in the Club Shop etc or a voucher for money to spend in the Club Shop Have a promotion in the Match Day programme that throws the spotlight on a particular School or junior team, then offer up free tickets for the kids so long as they are accompanied by a full paying adult and have a certain section in the stand where they can all be seated and presented on the pitch at half time Set up a Supporters Trust with the aims of raising awareness, revenue streams and maybe grants that could be available for the Club by involving, The supporters, The Club, The Council, Business Groups (Chamber of Commerce) |

wil have a definate impact on the team ( and boy do they need 'an impact' of one kind or another !), can not be ignored. However browsing through the postings for this thread I can't help but notice the number of 'what if's !' and'what would happen's ?, contained within them, and would suggest that to operate a scheme such as this, given the present climate of ineffective Management at the FES ,would be a pot-hole threatened venture from the start. But Rob, I'm glad that someone is attempting to achieve something positive in the 'How to increase the Gate' quandary. but ( and, I'm banging my Management drum again!) I am still of the opinion that it is the abysmal amount of Club funding for it's Strategic Development Section which brings about the need for supporters like you and I to have to concoct potential strategies in the first place !!. A situation which needs urgent consideration and action!! 'BON CHANCE STANLEY and ON!!!' 'WHAT ME WORRY ?'...Not with our committed fanbase I don't !' |
Re: A interesting idea for next season maybe
More can also be made of things like email & sms text messages from the Club
By keeping people more up to date in the latest happenings at the Club, could also be used as an advertising tool for sponsors & potential sponsors alike |
Re: A interesting idea for next season maybe
If money was given back for every goal we concede you could have the perverse situation where the home fans start cheering the opposition :eek::(

Re: A interesting idea for next season maybe
theres a simple way to increase attendances- consistency with home form. n before some bright spark says it- i mean Winning more.;)

Re: A interesting idea for next season maybe
That can be done under the existing club though can't it? if people don't want to get involved (club or fans) with the OSC as it stands then how would giving it a different name change things?
Supporters Trusts are also a lot more involving than a standard OSC with things like paperwork and 'officialness'. It also involves the creation of a 'board' of which a certain percentage must change every 2 years (might be 1 - can't remember). Top and bottom of it is that nothing would change. Fans would still not get involved, the club would still not tell us anything or involve us and the council would still do what they do with or without us. The Chamber of Commerce would still only be a representative body of the business sector that would still find their treatment either good or bad. I do agree though that the way forward should involve separate groups talking together and planning together but the fact remains that the club will always do its thing without consulting the fans and certainly not through 'Official' channels. |
Re: A interesting idea for next season maybe
No reason it can't be done through what is already in place, just become a working coalition between the Groups that pools ideas, know how, business accumin, possibly resources where available in terms of grants or interested parties and works for the greater good of Accrington Stanley.:)

Other clubs seem to place great value in these essential 'legs' within their overall organisational set-ups!, not only from the on-going financial backing which they provide directly and indirectly, but also from the observations and ideas which can only flow from those who stand, sit and watch at 'ground-level' week in week out!, and are willing to do all this on a voluntary basis to boot!., 'WHAT ME WORRY ?'....If your quote is accurate Macca, then yes I do!!. ( And would a Supporters Trust fare any better?) |
Re: A interesting idea for next season maybe
If we're looking for ideas - why not make an (adult) admission ticket a voucher redeemable at the Crown for a bogoff drink (or a quid off or something) within an hour of the final whistle ? Max one per person per game so no-one gets mugged for their ticket.
Might get more people into the ground  and would certainly get more into the pub afterwards :D - and once you're in there celebrating a victory ;) you're not just going to have the one, are you ? :thepint: |
Re: A interesting idea for next season maybe
:smoky: This might not be the answer but it might help why can't we have smoking areas around the ground at the back of the stands in the open,im sure people are put off because they carn't have a smoke how many do you know who smoke and don't attend match's any more,i smoke and would love one at half time.just athought:)

Re: A interesting idea for next season maybe
[Quote]HR.. Yeah but that's not stanley rules, thats football league rules, no smoking anywhere within the ground, open air or not! :) not convinced HR,im sure its somethink to do with Hyndburn Co with them owning the ground but i might be wrong, think there was a post about this last year when the ban came in....:)<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Re: A interesting idea for next season maybe
it was Lancs County Council that set the rules Mab.
In some places they have tried to enfore it on car parks as well that are in the immediate vicinity of the stadium |

Harwood Red is right, all football league and premiership grounds are No smoking venues. This is a football league rule that the club can do didlley squat about. LCC are insistant in enforcing this for our safety certificate. |
Re: A interesting idea for next season maybe
yeah sorry Sparkie you were right (and others) It was LCC who apparently said that we can't be allowed out at half time as per other grounds.
|
Re: A interesting idea for next season maybe
I think the club should stock more than 10 programmes in the bar and food outlets. Bacon barms sold in the food outlet. A person in a hut with hats, scarfs, badges selling them at the back of the clayton end (inside the ground). Should see an increased sale of the mentioned items may not be significent but every penny counts.
