Re: vs Barnet

Coleman described last week's effort as abysmal. How will he describe the team's performance today? Unfortunately we are getting worse every game. Is it now a matter of hoping we are safe and nobody is bothered anymore. That's how it appeared on the pitch today.

I missed all the first half and half the 2nd half due to counting the votes for the PLayer of the Year. Apparently I missed nowt, but the twenty minutes or so that I did see were dire, lacking in urgency and lacking in any kind of cohesion. It said it all that the Ultras did not want to clap the team off the field let alone sing any kind of songs.

Absolute garbage (by all accounts and my 20 minutes) and Just like Coley I cant wait for the season to end. Even though I won't be able to see next season.

Woeful performance today, Phil Edwards got MOTM and he was probably the only player who deserved it. They are still not working together as a team, which has got to be down to the training (or lack of it) they are getting. Add to that that Coley stood there like a stuffed dummy compared to Paul Fairclough who was the complete opposite, constantly trying to spur his team on.
Got to say I felt sorry for Sean Webb, saw him after the game and he looked like he's been in the ring with Joe Calzaghe.

Can't see many season tickets being shifted after that performance. Losing I can stand, but what I saw today made me feel like I'd been conned. I really feel like I wasted my time.

Nice post Accymad, liked, "stuffed dummy", back home (Liverpool) we use the expression, "like one of Lewis's", Hilda says, "like piffy on a rock bun", but it's all about body language and Coleman's said it all.

Yes, Webb had a right battle today, can't help but like the guy, if only his legs went a bit faster.
Also hope Neal Bishop is OK, looked nasty.

Bet some of the Barnet players felt as though they had been in with the ring with Joe Pasquale.

I'm sitting here, drinking a glass of Johnnie Walker and "celebrating" our survival. So why does it not feel like a celebration? Because the display of apathy that I've just seen is, quite frankly, a downright insult to the loyal fans who turn up for every home game. No passion, no spirit, no effort. OK, we're safe, but as someone has already said, the players didn't know that until after the match, so why were they not battling like, it would appear, the Wrexham and Mansfield players were? I'm beginning to think that the majority of the team really couldn't care less...and that hurts. :(

"Dire" was the only word to describe Today's performance, The wind swirling did no favours for either team but it was crying out for the ball to be down on the floor not hoof & hope and fair play to Barnet they were composed on the Ball passed it well and fully deserved their victory!:o

Our lot with the odd exception looked bereathed of ideas and motivation

Playing for their futures or resigned to their futures:confused:

I really do hope the Board back Coley during the Summer because there is a fair rebuilding job to be done

Back him! See the back of him, I hope. According to the 'football genius' there was a rebuilding job to be done at the end of last season and if this season's performances are any indication of his building skills I, for one, sincerely hope he practises elsewhere next season. A lego kit would suit him nicely.

I'm with you on this one, but not just the football genius, but take the board with him as well and get some proper funding into the football club.

Re: vs Barnet

Why have we 1 striker in the squad and jc let 4 go on loan or move. Its the shatest football I have ever payed to watch. Id of rather watch the game over the back of the ground. I think mullin gets himself dragged all over the pitch and would be a good possible centre midfielder because he does all the work for them, thus leaving us with nothing in attack. Its easy sitting above casting judgements but to admit youre making mistakes and fail to act on them makes it ever so easy for the crows to gather. Big changes needed , the cash wont be there, the wages wont be there, so no big changes will be there.

Nice you were thinking of me - I was on my way home to Pompey down the A3 after my hockey game (lost that too) - luckily wifey was driving 'cos it's not safe to drive with your head in your hands after the Radio 5 commentators go "goal at Accrington ...".

Sounds worse than dire but at least we're safe at last - 4 of us coming up for the Bury game (wife, sis, b-in-law) and it'll be nice not to have nerves jangling too much - perhaps the boys'll relax and finally play a bit ?

Not changing my signature yet

if wrexham win mid week we can send um down cant we ?

Tin Monkey 20-04-2008 13:47

Re: vs Barnet

We won't get anything at Wrexham. I don't think we'll get another point this season.

I said months ago that we would not keep ourselves up and that we'd be reliant on teams below us not picking up enough points to overtake us. Just 5 wins in 2008 shows that's been the case.

I actually think we're in a worse position now than we were last season. I don't mean in terms of the league table, I just mean in terms of where we are as a team and squad.

For people who haven't bought a season ticket yet, but were going to buy one, has anyone changed their mind about getting one now? I don't think I can stand week after week of the kind of tripe we've been forced to watch this season. As I've said a thousand times, I don't mind the losing, but the lackluster way we've played at home this season has really got to me. Yesterday I was truly bored at the game and I can think of alot of other ways to spend my time on Saturdays.

I agree wholeheartedly. Some people talk of progress being a higher league position and points total than last season. I do not go along with that.

There is something very wrong and it's time that someone thought very carefully about what has happened this season. From what I read, the players have lost heart. There has been mention in a different thread of the victory against Notts Forest and holding a Premiership club for 120 minutes on their own ground. Those were last season - and, incidentally, we would probably have defeated that Premiership side but for a self-confessed substitution error by the manager.

This season has been very poor indeed. As so many have said, it's not the fact that we have lost games. It's the way that we have played.

So who is going to ask the questions? Who is going to analyse what has been going wrong?

Haz66 20-04-2008 15:44

Re: vs Barnet

My son was going to get a season ticket and i was going to get a Flexi ticket but we decided that we would now leave it and see what happens over the summer, in terms of what the club are prepared to do to sort the mess out.

As already said, this season is far worse than last, at least we made an effort and tried to play football, just like we did in the conference, this season as just been totally awefull, just hoof and hope which does not suit us, with the weather yeasterday the game was just crying out for the ball to be played on the ground, but we couldn`t string two passes together if we tried.

Playing Mullin as a loan stricker (even though he looked like he was in midfield) is just plain stupid, who the hell was he supossed to head it down to ?, the only time we started to look better was when Todd and Smith came on, but too little way too late.

There are a lot of questions that need answering this season and hopefully they will all be addressed over the summer.

No one can doubt Sean Webb's commitment so whilst this was a metaphor for the Stanley performance, he for one is excepted.
